It is quite frustrating when the moderate speed of system prompts restricts availability and long handling hours while utilizing remote web either at home system or coffeehouse or airplane terminal or going after data transfer capacity at a meeting. Abstract The importance of the relationship between health and migration has been recognised for a long time with a more recent focus on refugee health. The experience of life threatening situations in countries of origin, the flight itself, but also the legal status of a refugee in the destination country brings about many health-related challenges. One area, in which these challenges become particularly visible, is the housing situation of refugees. In contrast to many voluntary migrants, refugees are often required to live in shared accommodations. These can be flats but also buildings constructed for other purposes, such as old factories, gyms, or hotels, container buildings, or tents. Thus, the living conditions of refugees in destination countries are often below the average housing standard of the native population. This situation can on the one hand reinforce challenges to refugees’ physical, psychological and social health, and on the other hand it can hinder the good provision of healthcare at home. This workshop addresses these challenges for the case of Germany - which had the highest number of asylum applications between 2015 and 2017 - by analysing different aspects of refugee health from an interdisciplinary perspective. The contributions bring together the results from theoretical/philosophical reflections, as well as qualitative and quantitative empirical data, including the perspective of refugees and health care providers. The contributions raise questions about the characteristics of accommodations that affect the subjective well-being and health of refugees. The results show that there are particular challenges for health and healthcare provision related to the general situation of accommodation of refugees in Germany. These include the potential transmission of germs and related risks for the physical health of refugees, the creation of a situation of exclusion from society which can worsen psychological stressors, as well as the distance from worshipping places, which can hinder the beneficial effects of communities of faith for the social health of refugees. In addition, the possibilities of maternity care in shared accommodations are often limited due to the lack of privacy, which can represent a stressor for pregnant women and young families. The results presented in this workshop are the outcomes of some projects developed in the graduate school “Challenges and Opportunities of Global Refugee Migration for Healthcare in Germany - FlüGe”. FlüGe encompasses 12 doctoral students, supervised by 12 professors from five faculties at Bielefeld University. It covers a broad range of disciplines (public health, psychology, microbiology, theology, and law) with an active involvement of practice partners, such as clinical and governmental institutions. In taking this approach, the graduate school aims to identify the short-, medium-, and long-term challenges and opportunities posed to global migration for healthcare in Germany and seeks to develop practical solutions. Key messages Despite the diversity in refugee accommodation in Germany, shared housing in general negatively affects refugee health in various ways. The accommodation of refugees poses challenges to the physical, mental and social health of refugees and to the efficient provision of healthcare at home.

<p>The high power consumption of conventional street lighting systems, and the consequences on environmental ecosystem due to continuous turning ON of light, have led researchers to seek solutions to this problem. LED light dimming system has been presented in many studies using computerized systems with or without wireless monitoring facility. The demerits of these systems include complexity, high cost and unfixed data transfer speed. This paper proposes to reduce power consumption of street lighting through a decentralized light dimming system that is based on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). This is in addition to replacing conventional high power lamps with lower power LED lamps. The dimming control circuit of this system is fixed on each pole and controlled individually resulting in faster and more reliable response. The proposed system uses the available infrastructure and is suitable for small or main streets regardless of the number of light poles. It is also flexible in its coverage distance due to the freedom of motion detector selection. The advantages of using LED lighting on the environment as compared to conventional lighting are explained. Simulations reveal the effectiveness of the proposed system on energy saving and on the environment.</p>

This report is considered different aspects of the concept of the networked distributed engine control system (DECS) of future air vehicles. These aspects include the following: the structure of multiple networks similar to NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA), the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in DECS, and the use Augmented Reality (AR) as Human-Machine Interface between AI and pilots. Deployment of AI solutions for monitoring equipment in on-board infrastructure can be provided on physical or virtual servers and in the clouds. In this case, it is possible to use various methods of alerting the pilot and ground personnel on the basis of AR. The use of AI allows covering an unlimited set of scenarios, to provide an assessment of the likelihood of equipment failure, classification alarm is normal, and recognition of the development of defects. To collect Big Data from sensors and the pre-processing of this data before a machine learning (ML) procedure it is proposed to form data sets with the help of the face-splitting matrix product. To decrease the time of reaction of Neural Networks it has been suggested the implementation of advanced tensor-matrix theory on the basis of penetrating face product of matrices. Other important results of the report are a possible version of the AR data format for DECS and a proposal about the use of non-orthogonal frequency discrete multiplexing (N-OFDM) signals to data transfer via fibre optics.

Nowadays, internet connectivity is one of the staple things in human lifestyle, especially for those who live in cities. There are a lot of ways to connect to the internet, and one of them is using Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) connection. Wi-Fi connection is seen as the most reliable connection, until Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) technology is coined in 2011. Li-Fi uses visible light as data transfer medium instead of radio frequency (RF) signal used by Wi-Fi. Theoretically, Li-Fi is able to reach hundred times of Wi-Fi connection speed due to their use of light as data transfer medium. Li-Fi is also expected as a solution to environmental problems caused by Wi-Fi. The RF signal used by Wi-Fi can cause some environmental problems such as growth inhibition and diseases to organisms including humans. The visible light used by Li-Fi is expected to cause minimal effects to the environment, as Li-Fi uses common LED light bulbs which are used as home lighting apparatus.  Li-Fi is commonly seen as a ‘greener’ technology compared to Wi-Fi. In this review, the performance and environmental impacts of both Wi-Fi and Li-Fi are analysed to determine whether Li-Fi is really capable to be a ‘greener’ replacement to Wi-Fi technology

The press was well accustomed to utilizing illustrations and photographs at the start of the First World War. This widespread use of images helped the people at home to better understand a war that differed enormously from previous conflicts. Images became a powerful instrument of propaganda, but also retained their usual function in entertaining and educating the reader. In this regard, technology offered new challenges and opportunities to the press in that the novelties of warfare had to be described to the public at home and images offered immediacy and clarity, and at the same time the new weapons’ marvel, even if terrifying, caught the attention and curiosity of the reader and “sold” magazines. The ample use of illustrations and photographs depicting technology in the magazines suggests how important the role of the press was in influencing both how the public understood the events on the frontline and how difficult it was for them to comprehend the new technological warfare.
