Lenney (1977) suggests that three situational factors are likely to affect the self-confidence of females in achievement situations. These factors are the sex orientation of the task, social comparison, and the need for performance feedback. In this study, 40 children, 20 of each sex, were studied to determine if the self-confidence of young females in their motor performance abilities was affected by Lenney's third situational variable, performance feedback. Presumably, females need feedback about their performance if they are to attain and/or maintain adequate self-confidence levels. The experiment was designed to control the first two factors: sex orientation of the task and social comparison. Results indicated that when performing a task perceived to be “neutral” in sex orientation in a noncompetitive, noncomparative environment, the self-confidence of young girls did not differ from young boys. In the absence of Lenney's (1977) first two factors, girls did not seem to lack self-confidence nor did they seem to be more dependent on performance feedback than boys.

The disciplines of biosciences included in the curricula of a nursing degree represent a daunting but crucial type of knowledge that a well-prepared nurse should acquire. Given the importance and the objective difficulties of these courses, nursing students experience anxiety, especially for the anatomy course. This anxiety and the related rate of exam failures lead professors to analyze their teaching approach, by diversifying the lecturing methods. The aim of our study was to test the use of a virtual dissection table (DT) during the anatomy lectures of a nursing course, evaluating the anxiety level before the exam and evaluating the exam score. The feedback of the evaluated student population was positive overall. The integration of the DT in anatomy lectures improved the learning performance and mostly enhanced the self-confidence of the first year nursing students.

Abstract Introduction The phenomenon of bullying among adolescents is a worldwide issue. The trend of this behavior is increasing in developed countries as well as in developing countries, with the creation of new forms such as cyberbullying. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of being bullied and to analyze the association between being bullied and some individual and familial factors. Methods This is a cross-sectional study conducted in two middle schools belonging to the region of Monastir in Tunisia in December 2017 and January 2018. The Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) was administered for students. All present students from the two recruited schools were included. Results A total of 802 students were enrolled in the study. Just under half of the study group (44.0%) reported having been bullied in the past month with 95% CI [40.66%-47.57%]. The predominant type of bullying was being made fun of with sexual jokes, comments or gestures (9.1%), followed by being kicked, pushed, shoved or locked indoors (3.6%). In multivariate analysis, physical fight was an independent associated factor with being bullied (OR [CI]95%: 2.04[1,77-3,25]), p = 0.001. Lonely students had nearly 3.38 higher risk of undergoing bullying (OR [CI]95%: 3.38 [2.05-5.57]), p = 0.001). In addition, being worried was also an independent factor associated with being bullied (OR [CI]95%: 2,23 [1,45-3,43]), p = 0.001. Conclusions Our results support an association between existing mental health problems and bullying. Additional studies are needed to understand the factors associated with school bullying and to Key messages In this study, the prevalence of bullying was relatively high. Program education in schools should focus on life skills education in order to develop the self-confidence and the self-esteem of students.

This research was aimed to examine the correlation between self confidence and learning independency among senior high school students. This research was a quantitative study which involved all student of class XI social science major (ilmu pengetahuan sosial/IPS) in SMA Negeri 1 Porong with the total number of 88 students. The instrument used to collect data were self confidence and independent learning scales. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product moment. The result shows that the coefficient correlation is 0,683 (r=0,683) in the significant level of  0,000 (p=0,000). The result means that there is correlation between self confidence and learning independency in which the relation between both variables is unidirectional. So, the higher the self confidence student have, the higher their learning independency would be and vice versa.
