From justice to exhaustion and engagement. The role of affective commitment to the organization From justice to exhaustion and engagement. The role of affective commitment to the organization In two studies the relationship between perceived organizational justice and emotional exhaustion and engagement was studied. Especially, the role of affective commitment to the organization in this relationship was examined. According to the group engagement model of Tyler and Blader (2003), procedural justice will result in positive behavior and attitudes because it increases commitment to the organization, thus implying that affective commitment mediates the relationship of justice with exhaustion and engagement. Conversely, Glazer and Kruse (2008) argue that a strong commitment to the organization can mitigate the effect of stressors, like injustice perceptions, on exhaustion and engagement, implying a moderating effect of commitment. These models were tested in two samples with employees working in a police organization. Both studies supported the mediating role of commitment; no evidence was found for a moderating role of commitment. The implication of these outcomes and the limitations of the study are discussed.

Motivational Interviewing has been demonstrated to be effective for a wide range of health behaviors. It is an effective behavior change method, which can be utilized in the dental practice setting. It can be used as a brief intervention to increase motivation to improve patients’ oral hygiene behaviors as well as providing a framework for delivering diet, smoking cessation, oral health changes, and alcohol advice. It involves four processes: engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning, guiding, which supports the patient towards a positive behavior change. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, patient-centered approach evoking the patient’s own motivation to change, thereby enhancing the relationship between the clinician and patient and improving patient outcomes. This review will provide an overview on the topic for dental professionals as well as helpful suggestions for supporting a positive behavior change in their dental practices.

This qualitative study is based on philosophical analysis (interpretive) that focuses on discussing the relationship of medical science with Islamic teachings to clarify the importance of Islamic rules and laws in the medical profession and the impact of these principles to promote good health and positive behavior. The medical profession and life sciences are proving all those facts today that came through Islam more than 1400 years ago. This study throws light on those universal golden rules given by the Quran in the perspective of medical science, health & hygiene and better mental health to be followed by the medical professionals and the fellow beings around.  Quran gives easy and simple guidelines to maintain better health and behavior promoting the ultimate standards in the fields of medical and life sciences. These sciences should be based on Islamic principles to get most of the benefits out of it.

The importance of a supportive ecology after a child returns from residential treatment has been documented in a number of follow-up studies. This study used ratings by liaison staff in a residential treatment program to measure both personal and ecological variables at admission and discharge and investigate the relationship of those ratings to adjustment status of students 6 months after discharge. It was found that some ecological data gathered at admission were predictive of follow-up status while most personal characteristics of the student were not. Unlike earlier follow-up studies, ratings of improvement, both of the student's behavior and his ecological support, were significantly related to follow-up ratings, possibly because liaison staff had worked directly with members of students' ecologies and were aware of support and problems to be faced on return to the community. These findings seem to support the proposition that personal change and ecological change must occur together for residential treatment to be successful.

The Mesozoic-Cenozoic coral Order Scleractinia has been suggested to have originated or evolved (1) by direct descent from the Paleozoic Order Rugosa or (2) by the development of a skeleton in members of one of the anemone groups that probably have existed throughout Phanerozoic time. In spite of much work on the subject, advocates of the direct descent hypothesis have failed to find convincing evidence of this relationship. Critical points are:(1) Rugosan septal insertion is serial; Scleractinian insertion is cyclic; no intermediate stages have been demonstrated. Apparent intermediates are Scleractinia having bilateral cyclic insertion or teratological Rugosa.(2) There is convincing evidence that the skeletons of many Rugosa were calcitic and none are known to be or to have been aragonitic. In contrast, the skeletons of all living Scleractinia are aragonitic and there is evidence that fossil Scleractinia were aragonitic also. The mineralogic difference is almost certainly due to intrinsic biologic factors.(3) No early Triassic corals of either group are known. This fact is not compelling (by itself) but is important in connection with points 1 and 2, because, given direct descent, both changes took place during this only stage in the history of the two groups in which there are no known corals.
