Abstract This clinical report describes the construction of a resin-bonded fixed partial denture with a removable pontic during the healing period of a single implant treatment. This design improves maintenance of oral hygiene.

Cleft lip and/or cleft palate defects often result in a functional deficiency in the patient’s chewing, speech ability, and aesthetic appearance, usually demanding multidisciplinary effort for addressing the aesthetic and functional patient’s requirements. This clinical report describes the planned oral rehabilitation of a 46-year-old woman with unilateral cleft lip defect based on the patient’s peculiarities and age. Due to limitations concerning bone grafts and implant procedures, as well as orthodontic treatment, the prosthodontic rehabilitation using the metal-ceramic fixed partial denture was chosen. The treatment adequately reestablished the aesthetic and functional activities, positively impacting the patient’s quality of life.

ABSTRACT Objectives: The aims of this study were to evaluate patient satisfaction with fixed prosthesis following placement and to assess the oral health and oral hygiene practices awareness by survey questionnaire. Materials and Methods: One hundred and ninety-two questionnaires were filled by patients wearing fixed prosthesis; the questionnaire included the subjective perception of treatment with fixed prosthesis, patients’ perception of clinical outcome, regarding esthetics, masticatory function, speech, and together patient's attitude toward oral hygiene measures. Results: Results showed that 84% of the patients were satisfied with their fixed prosthesis, while only 46.4% of patients were satisfied with the chewing ability. In concern, with esthetic outcome, 80% of patients showed that they were satisfied with the esthetic. The results showed that a high significantly number of patients did not use any form of interdental aids’ to clean their fixed prosthesis (94%). The main reason for not using any dental aids’ (91.1%) was a lack of post fixed prosthodontics instructions and not been informed by the dentist. Conclusion: High percentages of patients were satisfied with their fixed prosthesis. The most important finding of this study was that majority of patients showed a lack of knowledge regarding post fixed prosthodontics instructions and the significance of maintenance of fixed prosthesis using dental aids’. Of particular concern was the majority of dentists did not pay attention to the post treatment instructions concerning the maintenance of fixed prosthesis.

AbstractRehabilitation of patients with deficient Seibert's Class-III ridge mandibular ridge is always a challenge for a dentist. This article discusses the problems faced while rehabilitating such cases and also discusses the surgical and prosthetic management of one such case. A ridge augmentation procedure called as “Roll on Technique” was used to correct the contour of the ride. Fixed partial denture with altered framework design and tissue colored porcelain was used to complete the case. These simple but effective changes helped to give predictable esthetics with illusion of natural teeth.

The realization of esthetic objectives and functional demands in the reconstruction of severely compromised dentition represents considerable clinical problems. This clinical report represents the prosthetic management of a severe dentofacial deformity with compromised periodontal status. Treatment objectives were based on Aesthetics enhancement, sociopsychological support of the patient, restoration of form function, phonetics and comfort. Following which extraction of upper incisors and alveoloplasty done. An immediate removable partial denture was fabricated, considering aesthetics, phonetics and comfort of the patient followed by replacement of incisors by metal- ceramic fixed partial denture done. Clinical relevance: prosthetic management of severlymalaligned natural maxillary anterior teeth by fixed partial denture, considering aesthetics and phonetics of the patient. Treatment objectives: Aesthetics enhancement, sociopsychological support of the patient, restoration of form function, phonetics and comfort. Background Gingival inflammation and periodontal disease are the common complications of fixed dental prosthesis. They can be overcome by good oral hygiene maintenance.Objective The objective of this study was to assess the oral hygiene and gingival condition in patients after placement of fixed dental prosthesis for a period of six months. It was also analyzed how factors like type of fixed dental prosthesis (Single crown, fixed partial denture) and material (Metal, Porcelain fused to metal) are statistically associated with oral hygiene and gingival health.Method The sample consisted of 50 patients visiting the Dental Outpatient Department of Dhulikhel Hospital. The oral examinations were conducted using basic diagnostic tools (Mouth mirror, periodontal probe and explorer). Teeth and gingiva were examined using the Plaque and Gingiva Index by Silness and Löe. The examinations were conducted after 14 days and six months after placement of fixed dental prosthesis along with the oral hygiene instructions. Paired sample t-test were done to find statistical association using SPSS 16.0.Result Our results revealed no significant difference in plaque index among patients with single crown whereas fixed partial denture showed statistical significance. No significant differences were found for type of material. The statistical analysis showed similar results for gingival index.Conclusion Our research showed that single crown had no significant difference on Plaque index and Gingival index of the patient after 14 days and six months, whereas, Fixed partial denture showed significant difference. Both metal and porcelain fused to metal crown revealed no statistically significant difference on Plaque index and Gingival index.
