ABSTRACTLow-K silica films were grown from the liquid phase using methyl-triethoxy-silane. Physical and chemical properties were investigated together with electronic properties. The film had dense methyl groups and showed insulating characteristics even under as-grown conditions. The dielectric constant, low-field resistivity and breakdown field-strength were 3.6, 1013 Ωcm and IMV/cm, respectively, for the as-grown film. They were improved to 2.6, more than 1015 Ωcm and more than 3MV/cm, respectively, after 300°C vacuum annealing

In this paper, ZnO Nano-particles is embedded in polyimide, and physical and chemical properties of polyimide/ZnO composite materials have been studied. It is found that different ZnO content will cause UV absorption edge blue shift, and EL tests show that electricity aging and pre-breakdown have changed. For PI/ZnO(1%) and PI/ZnO(2%) composite materials, Electricity aging is at 1.4Mv/cm and 1.5Mv/cm, Pre-breakdown field is at 1.9Mv/cm and 1.8Mv/cm, respectively. In addition, there are emission peaks at 442.8nm, 514.2nm, 609.4nm in the EL spectrum of the PI/ZnO (1%) films and 538nm, 633.2nm of PI/ZnO(2%) films, which indicates that some defects in this area.

The number of applications of time domain NMR using low-field spectrometers in research and development has been steadily increasing in recent years with applications ranging from quality control of industrial products to the study of physical and chemical properties of a wide array of solid and liquid samples to, most recently, electrochemical studies. In this mini-review we summarize the progress that has been achieved in the coupling between time domain NMR (using low-field spectrometers) and electrochemistry and how the challenges that this coupling poses have been overcome over the years. We also highlight the effect that the static magnetic field of the NMR spectrometer has on the electrochemical systems.

The modification of polyolefi ns by polar monomers in the melt and solid state on one extruder was investigated. The features of changes in the physical and chemical properties of polyolefi ns with melt and solid modifi cations are studied. The reactivity of comonomers in liquid-phase and solid-phase modifi cation processes has been compared. The method of grafting solid modifi cation, in which pre-ozonated polyethylene is used as a copolymerization initiator, has been investigated. High adhesion properties of the copolymers were found.

TiO2nanotube film is a promising photocatalyst associated with its unique physical and chemical properties such as optic, electronic, high specific surface area. Liquid-phase decomposition provides a feasible way for the preparation of functional thin film. This paper reviews and analyzes the formation mechanism of TiO2nanotube film by liquid phase deposition. The effect of preparation parameters, such as the kinds of electrolyte solution for the preparation of anodic alumina template, volume fraction of Al2O3on the template, the concentration of the deposition solution, and heat treatment, on the formation of TiO2nanotube film has been analyzed. The effects of doping of metallic and nonmetallic elements on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2nanotube have been discussed.

In connection with the spectrophotometric study of population-type characteristics of various kinds of stars, a statistical analysis of kinematical and distribution parameters of the same stars is performed at the Toruń Observatory. This has a twofold purpose: first, to provide a practical guide in selecting stars for observing programmes, second, to contribute to the understanding of relations existing between the physical and chemical properties of stars and their kinematics and distribution in the Galaxy.
