AbstractHydroxyapatite (HAP : Ca10(PO4 ) 6 (OH) 2 ) and aluminosili-cate were easily synthesized using a hydrothermal process with mixing ratios of Ca/P=1.67 (Ca(PO3)2 and Ca(OH)2) and Si/Al=4 (SiO2 and Al(OH)3). The temperature was kept constant at 573 K for 60 minutes. .Cesium (Cs) and Cerium (Ce) contained in Ca(PO3)2 , were found to take on a stable form in the pollucite (CsAlSi2O6) structure and the monazite (CePO4) structure.

P25 loaded few layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets (P25@MoS2) are successfully synthesized through a facile one-step hydrothermal process. The bi-catalytic activities, i.e., photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activities, of the as-prepared nanomaterials have been investigated. For the as-prepared products, the photocatalytic performances were investigated by degrading simulated pollutant under sunlight irradiation, and the hydrogen evolution reaction evaluated the electrocatalytic performances. The results indicate that P25@MoS2 possesses excellent activities in both photocatalysis and electrocatalysis. The presence of MoS2 broadens the light absorption range of P25 and improves the separation and transformation efficiency of photogenerated carriers, thus improving its photocatalytic performance. The existence of P25 inhibits the aggregation of MoS2 to form more dispersed MoS2 nanosheets with only few layers increasing its active sites. Thereby, the electrocatalytic performance is heightened. The excellent multifunction makes the as-prepared P25@MoS2 a promising material in the fields of environment and energy.

Using polymer as a surfactant, we successfully synthesized of PbTiO3 crystals with a self-assembly structure by a hydrothermal process. The as-obtained powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the presence of PVP, PEG and PVA plays a key role on the formation of self-assembly structure and the corresponding formation mechanism was briefly discussed.

There are few known parameters which govern tungsten trioxide (WO3) hydrothermal synthesis process which includes material source concentration, synthesis temperature, duration, pH value and additive level. Using design of experiments (DOE) approach, a systematic experimental procedure was conducted to investigate the effect of each parameter to the final morphology of the synthesized nanostructure. Despite the response obtained from this study is in qulitative form, the analysis still can be done to identify the combination of variables that most likely can produce either 1-D, 2-D or 3-D nanostructure. This insight is essential before further optimization of the process can be done in order to predict the behavior of the WO3 hydrothermal synthesis process.

The La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 nanocubes have been synthesized by simple precipitation followed by hydrothermal process. The as-obtained nanocubes were characterized by SEM, TEM, EDS, XRD and ICP-AA. The SEM and TEM images clearly showed cube type morphology of reaction product. The XRD pattern gave evidence for the phase purity and high crystallinity of the La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 nanocubes. The ICP-AA analysis along with EDS confirms the stoichiometry of the product. Electrochemical activity for oxygen reduction reaction was carried out in 1 M KOH. The oxygen reduction current measured by cyclic voltametry showed six times higher value for nanocubes than that of bulk catalysts of same composition.
