Factors Affecting Metal/Polymer Interface Durability in Microelectronics Packaging: Chemistry and Water Uptake

AbstractDurability of metal/polymer interfaces is essential for the long-term reliability of high performance microelectronics packages. Such interfaces undergo stresses during production and in service. In this work, we report on the durability of interfaces formed between reactive metals and polyimides (PI) that have been subjected to stresses simulating both types of environment. The P1 surfaces were treated by Ar RF plasmas prior to metal deposition, and durability was determined by measuring the 90 degree peel strength as a function of environmental exposure. The durability of Cr and Ti/PMDA-ODA interfaces through processing stresses (i.e., large thermal excursions) depends on the PI surface modification and the metal reactivity. For both, we observed interfacial degradation due to oxidation of the metal–the cause is water absorbed by the polyimide. These studies, coupled with water transport measurements, suggest that the physical structure of the interface is the dominant factor. To determine the durability under service environmental stresses (e.g., temperature/humidity), we correlated peel strengths with interfacial chemistry and water uptake. In this case, Ar and O2 plasmas were used. For Ta/BPDA-PDA, the durability depends on the type of plasma treatment. Ar-treated specimens maintain strength through 500 hours T/H stressing whereas those treated by O2 plasma alone fail at 165 hours. The differences here can be explained by the interfacial chemistry–Ta/Ar-etched surfaces form a stable TaG-like structure whereas the Ta/O2-etched surfaces form a metastable, sub-oxide structure that transforms to Ta2O5 during stressing. Ta/PMDA-ODA interfaces fail readily under these conditions due to the increased water uptake of the PI.

IntroductionThe trend for microelectronic devices has historically been, and will continue to be, toward a smaller feature size, faster speeds, more complexity, higher power, and lower cost. The driving force behind these advances has traditionally been microprocessors. With the tremendous growth of wireless telecommunications, rf applications are beginning to drive many areas of microelectronics that traditionally were led by developments in microprocessors. An increasingly dominant factor in rf microelectronics is electronic packaging, and the materials needed to create the package, because the package materials strongly affect the performance of the electronics. Many challenges remain for the packaging of microprocessors as well. These challenges include increased speed, the number of input/output interconnects, decreased pitch, and decreased cost. This article highlights the key issues facing the packaging of high-performance digital and rf electronics.

This study was conducted to investigate several factors affecting the removal of aflatoxin B1 by Flavobacterium aurantiacum NRRL B-184. A simple spectrophotometric procedure was evaluated and compared to an established high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method and found to be useful for determining aflatoxin concentration in test solutions of phosphate buffer. Using the spectrophotometric method, 72-h cultures of F. aurantiacum were observed to remove more toxin from solution than 24-h cultures. Likewise, populations of 1010cells removed aflatoxin at a faster rate than did 109 cells, although the total amount removed did not differ. Transferring F. aurantiacum cultures in tryptic soy broth every 3 days for over 3 days for over 8 months had no apparent effect on their ability to remove measurable amounts of aflatoxin B1 from solution. Populations of 1 × 109 CFU/ml or less heat-inactivated F. aurantiacum were unable to remove aflatoxin B1 from phosphate buffer.

In order to achieve energy saving and reduce the total cost of ownership, green storage has become the first priority for data center. Detecting and deleting the redundant data are the key factors to the reduction of the energy consumption of CPU, while high performance stable chunking strategy provides the groundwork for detecting redundant data. The existing chunking algorithm greatly reduces the system performance when confronted with big data and it wastes a lot of energy. Factors affecting the chunking performance are analyzed and discussed in the paper and a new fingerprint signature calculation is implemented. Furthermore, a Bit String Content Aware Chunking Strategy (BCCS) is put forward. This strategy reduces the cost of signature computation in chunking process to improve the system performance and cuts down the energy consumption of the cloud storage data center. On the basis of relevant test scenarios and test data of this paper, the advantages of the chunking strategy are verified.

JLSO 7(1): Palm oil commodities are one of the plantation sub-sector commodities that increase the income of farmers and the community, provide processing industry raw materials that create added value. The land cultivated by independent oil palm farmers consists of land land, tidal peatlands, coastal peatlands and coastal land. The difference in typology of this land will contribute to different production. The research aimed to analyze the oil palm production and the dominant factor affecting oil palm production according to the typology of land in Indragiri Hilir Riau Province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and built multiple regression models with the dummy variable method of Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The results of the study showed that the production of oil palm cultivation on land is the highest compared to the typology of tidal peatland, coastal peat and coastal land. The dominant factors affecting palm oil production in Indragiri Hilir Regency were the amount of fertilizer use, labor, age of plants, herbicides and dummy typology of land. In order to obtain optimal production, this study recommended doing oil palm farming in accordance with the correct cultivation techniques in accordance with the characteristics of land typology. Besides that the use of balanced fertilizer (elements of N, P, and K) in accordance with the recommended needed to be applied.

Patients in health services have different behaviors in deciding to take advantage of health services. Patients used various considerations to make decisions based on the health products or services for re-treatment. The study aimed to analyze the factors that influence the patient's decision in using health services for re-treatment. This research was quantitative with cross-sectional design and conducted at Tanjung Pura Regional Hospital. The population was 3.946 people, and the sample were 247 respondents taken by using purposive sampling. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate using chi-square and multivariate using multiple logistic regression at the 95% confidence level (a= .05). The results showed that the factors that influenced the patient's decision to use health services for re-treatment at the Tanjung Pura Regional Hospital were the service quality of doctors / nurses (p= .000), distance (p=.049), facilities (p=0.000), and service speed (p = .000). The factors that did not influence we age (p=.461). gender (p=.895), education (p=.371), occupation (p=.593). The most dominant factor influencing is facilities with Exp (B)/OR =14.477, meaning that respondents who stated that the hospital facilities were good, had the opportunity to use health services for re-treatment by 14.4 times higher the respondents who stated that the hospital facilities were not good. It is suggested to Tanjung Pura Regional Hospital to propose and allocate a budget for improving hospital facilities that are still lacking and adding new service facilities so that it can increase public confidence for repeat treatment

Abstract It is necessary to consider the factors affecting the dynamics and blood glucose (BG) level to maintain a horse’s high performance and health during intensive training. The study aimed to research the influence of the feeding regime on the change in BG level in the Orlov trotter horses during the period of intensive training (summer) in the conditions of the stud farm’s training center in the Kaluga region (Russia). Horses aged 2 to 4 years, stallions (n = 7), and mares (n = 5) received commercial mixed feed three times a day and grass hay in free access. Four times a week after lunch, horses are released into the paddock with cut grass. Blood was collected from the jugular vein. Blood was collected before morning feeding and then every hour until four h after morning and afternoon feeding. The dynamics of BG changes depending on the presence or absence of the grass paddock after feeding were evaluated. If horses remained in the stall after feeding, the BG level gradually increased, reaching a maximum (4.95 ± 0.21 mmol/L) 3 hours after feeding and was significantly higher (P ≤ 0.05) than when they were immediately moved to the paddock with grass. The maximum BG concentration in horses in the paddock was observed 1 hour after feeding (4.55 ± 0.21 mmol/L); it didn’t have significant differences with the BG level after 1 hour in “stall horses” (4.5 ± 0.14 mmol/L). Then the BG level of the “paddock horses” gradually decreased, and in the “stall horses” increased. No significant difference in BG levels was observed 4 hours after feeding. When horses can walk in a paddock after feeding concentrates and eat grass, blood glucose levels do not rise and tend to decrease.

Prior radiomics studies have focused on two-class brain tumor classification, which limits generalizability. The performance of radiomics in differentiating the three most common malignant brain tumors (glioblastoma (GBM), primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), and metastatic disease) is assessed; factors affecting the model performance and usefulness of a single sequence versus multiparametric MRI (MP-MRI) remain largely unaddressed. This retrospective study included 253 patients (120 metastatic (lung and brain), 40 PCNSL, and 93 GBM). Radiomic features were extracted for whole a tumor mask (enhancing plus necrotic) and an edema mask (first pipeline), as well as for separate enhancing and necrotic and edema masks (second pipeline). Model performance was evaluated using MP-MRI, individual sequences, and the T1 contrast enhanced (T1-CE) sequence without the edema mask across 45 model/feature selection combinations. The second pipeline showed significantly high performance across all combinations (Brier score: 0.311–0.325). GBRM fit using the full feature set from the T1-CE sequence was the best model. The majority of the top models were built using a full feature set and inbuilt feature selection. No significant difference was seen between the top-performing models for MP-MRI (AUC 0.910) and T1-CE sequence with (AUC 0.908) and without edema masks (AUC 0.894). T1-CE is the single best sequence with comparable performance to that of multiparametric MRI (MP-MRI). Model performance varies based on tumor subregion and the combination of model/feature selection methods.
