ABSTRACTAC transport measurements show that the vortex dynamics in a twinned superconducting Y-Ba-Cu-O single crystal are consistant with a second order vortex-solid melting transition. Indentification of the universal functions and consistent measurements of the critical exponents v = 0.7 and z= 3.0 found in magnetic fields from IkOe to 90kOe as well as DC transport measurements offer strong evidence for this transition.

AbstractWe report the magneto-conductivity analysis of Bi2Se3 single crystal at different temperatures in a magnetic field range of ± 14 T. The single crystals are grown by the self-flux method and characterized through X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Raman Spectroscopy. The single crystals show magnetoresistance (MR%) of around 380% at a magnetic field of 14 T and a temperature of 5 K. The Hikami–Larkin–Nagaoka (HLN) equation has been used to fit the magneto-conductivity (MC) data. However, the HLN fitted curve deviates at higher magnetic fields above 1 T, suggesting that the role of surface-driven conductivity suppresses with an increasing magnetic field. This article proposes a speculative model comprising of surface-driven HLN and added quantum diffusive and bulk carriers-driven classical terms. The model successfully explains the MC of the Bi2Se3 single crystal at various temperatures (5–200 K) and applied magnetic fields (up to 14 T).

Tl 2 Ba 2 CaCu 2 O 10 ( Tl :2212) thin films were prepared on LaAlO 3 substrates with (0 0 1) direction normal to their surface, and the logR-logH characteristics were measured using the in-plane resistivity measurements in magnetic fields tilted away from c axis to the ab-plane. The H *c- H ab phase diagram was obtained by defining a resistance criterion below the vortex phase melting transition resistance. The linear dependence of H *c on H ab in most angular range shows that the crossing-lattice structure in the tilted fields exists in Tl :2212. A perpendicular line was observed in the H *c- H ab diagram at the range of θ ¡ 0.4 ° at 88K, which was attributed to the lock-in transition.

In this work, two new single crystals of copper-tetraphenylporphine (Cu-TPP) (crystals 2 and 3), which were induced by external magnetic fields with strengths of 0.5 and 0.8 T, respectively, have been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and Hirshfeld surface analysis.

This paper describes recent device developments with relaxor ferroelectric Pb ( Zn1/3Nb2/3) O3– PbTiO3(PZN–PT) single crystals carried out at Microfine Materials Technologies Pte. Ltd, Singapore. Promising [011]-poled transverse cuts of PZN–PT single crystals and the results on the effect of electric field and axial compressive stress on the rhombohedral-to-orthorhombic ( R – O ) phase transformation behavior of such cuts are presented and discussed. The single crystal devices described include a compact low-frequency broadband power-efficient underwater tonpilz projector, high sensitivity shear accelerometers and acoustic vector sensors (AVS). The unique characteristics offered by these PZN–PT single crystal devices are highlighted, which serve as examples of new-generation piezoelectric devices and systems for a wide range of demanding applications.
