ABSTRACTThe critical current density inferred from magnetization hysteresis for epitaxial Tl2Ca2Ba2Cu3O10 films on LaAlO3 exhibits a pronounced increase with film thickness in the high-field, high-current regime. This thickness dependence does not extend to comparatively “thick” single crystals, however, suggesting that the grain boundaries play a major role in collective vortex pinning for Tl-based superconducting thin films.

We have performed systematic quantitative measurements of the critical current density Jc(B, T) for YBCO thin films proton-irradiated to various dosages using the MOI technique. Results for external magnetic fields up to 400Oe and temperature ranging from 5 to 80K are presented for a 600nm thick YBCO film irradiated by proton up to a dosage of 1016 cm -2 at 500 keV. While no significant differences were observed for T>50K, the Jc values consistently increased with the increasing external field for T<50K.

Superconducting Bi–Pb–Sr–Ca–Cu–O thin films of zero resistivity temperature 108 K and critical current density of 1000 A/cm2 (at 77 K) were deposited on MgO(100) single-crystal substrates by DC magnetron sputtering. After depositing at 350–400°C and post annealing at 837.5°C for 1–5 hours in air, with different cooling rate we got highly c-axis oriented thin films which show zero resistivity at 103 K, 108 K. The results we got show an interesting phenomenon: the mixture of high and low Tc phase exhibit a low onset, sharp transition and high current density.

In this letter, we describe results obtained via laser ablation to fabricate Tl 2 Ba 2 Ca 2 Cu 3- O 10 superconducting thin films using a two-step process. We found that the zero-resistance temperatures are up to 121 K, while the onset temperatures are up to 125 K. The T c and J c are mainly determined by a non-contact new technique for high-T c films. The typical critical current density, J c , is about 106 A/cm 2 at 77 K. X-ray diffraction showed that the superconducting thin films are nearly single 2223 phase and are highly oriented.
