ABSTRACTThe materials quality (uniformity and homogeneity) produced by PECVD technique depends on the plasma behaviour. Problems related to the gas dissociation ratio and powder formation are responsible for materials costs and the appearance of voids. In this paper, we present data concerning the role of the plasma and reactor design, on the deposition conditions, suggesting ways to improve them for large area device (macroelectronics) applications.

Colloidal lithography is an innovative fabrication technique employing spherical, nanoscale crystals as a lithographic mask for the low cost realization of nanoscale patterning. The features of the resulting nanostructures are related to the particle size, deposition conditions and interactions involved. In this work, we studied the absorption of polystyrene spheres onto a substrate and discuss the effect of particle–substrate and particle–particle interactions on their organization. Depending on the nature and the strength of the interactions acting in the colloidal film formation, two different strategies were developed in order to control the number of particles on the surface and the interparticle distance, namely changing the salt concentration and absorption time in the particle solution. These approaches enabled the realization of large area (≈cm2) patterning of nanoscale holes (nanoholes) and nanoscale disks (nanodisks) of different sizes and materials.

AbstractOur goal is to evaluate the role of triggering effects on the star formation and early stellar evolution by presenting a statistically large sample of cloud and low-mass YSO data. We conducted large area surveys (ranging from 400 square-degree to 10800 square-degree) in optical, NIR and FIR. The distribution of the ISM and low-mass YSOs were surveyed. A relative excess was found statistically in the number of dense and cold core bearing clouds and low mass YSOs in the direction of the FIR loop shells indicating a possible excess in their formation.

Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for rural areas in Bihar. Agriculture being mostly dependent on monsoon is highly affected by scanty rainfall, weather variations, flood, etc. The study was conducted in Bhagalpur district of Bihar to assess role of different technologies in enhancing income and mitigate challenges faced by farmers. Three villages of Sabour block in Bhagalpur district namely Farka, Ghospur and English were selected for study. A total of 150 farmers (50 from each village) were selected randomly and data was collected using semi-structured interview schedule. Production innovations like high yielding varieties, new techniques, and home-made remedies of costly designs were identified, along with a marketing channel to sell vegetables from diara region. Some new crops like strawberry and fruits plantation in large area seemed to have good scope; poultry business also appeared to be promising. Some constraints were also identified which when rectified can give new potentials to agricultural production in this area.

The related issues of hazardous materials transportation in recent years are summarized and reviewed from the following aspects: hazardous materials transportation risk evaluation models, road routing models, the application of related technology, early warning for emergency response and joint action mechanism and platform construction, the research situation and development pattern of unified monitoring platform, etc. Analysis shows that it is essential to establish more in-depth and scientific quantitative models based on the attainment of more comprehensive and continuous data as well as the consideration of various constraints. It is a direction for future research to develop comprehensive application of technology and to establish HAZMAT transportation joint control platform in large area, and the leading and facilitating role of government should be paid more attention on joint control platform construction in large area.

ABSTRACTThis paper reviews recent progress in large-area a-Si/a-SiGe tandem solar cells in Sanyo. Much effort has been devoted to increasing both the stabilized efficiency and the process throughput. A key issue in increasing the stabilized efficiency is thinner i-layer structure with an improved optical confinement effect. High-rate deposition of the i-layers has been investigated using rf (13.56MHz) plasma-CVD method while keeping the substrate temperature below 200 °C. A high photosensitivity of 106 of a-Si:H films maintain up to the deposition rate (Rd) of 15 Å/s by optimizing hydrogen dilution and other deposition conditions. It is of great importance to utilize the effect of hydrogen dilution which can reduce the incorporation of excess hydrogen in the films. The world's highest conversion efficiency of 11.2% has been achieved for a large-area (8252cm2) a-Si/a-SiGe tandem by combining the optimized hydrogen dilution and other solar cell related technologies.

I hope therefore that the following account of the earliest phases in the development of one which played a role of major importance in the prehistory of Crete, and so of Europe, may be an appropriate contribution to the present collection of essays in his honour.The beginnings and subsequent expansion of the Neolithic community of Knossos has become fully intelligible for the first time as a result of the two seasons of excavation carried out in 1969 and 1970. The early soundings of Evans and Mackenzie, though they indicated that the Neolithic deposit had covered a large area, threw little or no light on the growth of the settlement, and, apart from the Late Neolithic houses in the Central Court, which were cleared in 1923–4 (Evans, 1928, 1–21), none at all on its nature.
