AbstractGold nanoparticles supported on titania catalysts with different Au loadings were prepared and evaluated in the reaction of NO reduction by CO in an oxygen rich condition. The crystalline structures of the Au/TiO2 materials were refined with Rietveld method. TiO2 support chiefly contains anatase phase, having a crystalline size ranged from 5 to 15 nm. Au particles have an average crystal size approximately 2-5 nm as Au concentration less 3 wt %. In the reaction of NO + CO + O2, the Au/TiO2catalysts show a selectivity to 100 % N2, neither NO2 nor N2O was yielded in the reaction temperature between 25 and 400 °C, which strongly indicates that Au/TiO2catalysts are much superior to the other catalysts like Pt/TiO2 catalysts on which N2O was usually produced in the reaction temperature below 200 °C and NO2 was produced in the reaction temperature above 300 °C under a similar reaction condition.

TiO2and Vanadium doped TiO2nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The solvents are water, oleic acid, or oxalic acid, which have affected the forms and sizes of the grains in the samples. The solvent can make the spherical nanograins, or the stick form grains, what influences the photo activity of the materials. The Vanadium doped TiO2nanoparticles had identical anatase phase with average crystal size of 8-20nm. The absorption spectra of doped samples exhibited the long tailed absorption in the visible light region above 380nm. The photocatalytic activity under the irradiation of visible light was evaluated by the degradation of phenol aqueous solutions, which is one of the products from photocatalytic oxidations of benzene. The samples TiO2:0.5%V4+have visible light photocatalystic activity; after 360min under the visible irradiation the normalized concentration of phenol decreased to 9%.

The powder of TiO2/α-Al2O3 nanocomposite for Sonocatalysis decolorisation was successfully achieved in the Hydrothermal autoclave reaction for 6 hours and completely crystallized into Anatase phase at temperature of 220oC which more lower than normal required calcination temperature 500oC. The TiO2/α-Al2O3 nanoparticles examined using FT-IR, SEM, TGA, X-ray diffraction studies( XRD), The results indicate the formation of nanocomposite with tetragonal Anatase phase and average crystal size of 21.4nm for TiO2/α-Al2O3 while the average crystal size of 8.1nm for Al2O3, which are calculated according to Scherrer’s equation. This powder was mixed with methylene blue to study the effect of nanocomposite on it, the prepared nanocomposite show highly decolorisation percentage of methylene blue solution.
