ABSTRACTBaTiO. thin films deposited on pyrex supportsby dip-coating technique and powders have been prepared by the sol-gel route from sols containing a mixture of tetraisopropyl orthotitanate, iso propanol, barium acetate and glacial acetic acid. The thickness of the films is proportional to the first power of the withdrawal speed. Gelled sols have been dried hypercritically and by natural evaporation. Films and powders have been characterized by X-ray diffraction during their heat treatment. Tetragonal BaTiO structure is observed for T ≥ 600°C.

AbstractThin films of pure barium titanate have been prepared by the sol-gel process from organomettalic sols containing titanium alkoxides and barium acetate (molar ratio [Ba]/[Ti]=l). It leads to transparent, homogeneous and adherent coatings. The influence of various parameters such as chemical concentration, viscosity, withdrawal speed and temperature of densification on film thickness is described. The films were characterized by X-ray diffraction during their heat treatment. Their crystallization temperature was observed to be around 450°C. No variations in the optical properties were observed during the crystallization, and it occurred without the appearance of cracks or pinholes. Tetragonal BaTiO3 structure was observed, and the ferroeletric properties were investigated as functions of thickness and grain size.

High purity barium titanate BaTiO3 was successfully synthesized by using the sol-gel technique. Barium acetate Ba(CH3COO)2 and tetrabutyl titanate, Ti(C4H9O)4 was dissolved moderately in the solvent of glacial acetic acid and ethanol was added as the chemical modifier. The synthesized BaTiO3 nanoparticle was calcined at the temperature range of 700 ºC to 1100 ºC. The powders were further characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Fined BaTiO3 powders result indicates the phase of tetragonal structures and high crystallites of BaTiO3. It was observed that the crystallinity and particle size of BaTiO3 is greatly influenced by the calcination temperature.

Multilayered thin films of aluminum-doped ZnO (Al:ZnO) have been deposited by the sol-gel dip coating technique. Experimental results indicated that the thermal annealing temperature affected the crystallinity of the Al:ZnO films. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that thin films were preferentially orientated along the c-axis plane. The preferred orientation along (0 0 2) plane becomes more pronounced as the thermal annealing being increased. The film thickness ranges between 180 and 690 nm. In our experiments, the most optimum condition of Al:ZnO annealing temperature was both 500 oC.

Zinc Oxide (ZnO) thin films were produced by the sol gel dip coating process on the p-type silicon substrate with various withdrawal speeds changing from 1 to 4 cm/min, respectively. The films were annealed at a temperature of 500 °C for an hour in air ambient. The thin film thickness was found to be raised with the rise in withdrawal speed. The uniform distribution of the grains was appeared for all the films. The evolution of c-axis oriented (002) peak was revealed from X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. The microstructural and optical properties of ZnO films were investigated by Raman, FTIR and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The resistive switching properties of ZnO based memristors were studied by performing the current-voltage (I-V) measurements, where the thin films coated with lower withdrawal speed, have shown better switching property with rapid rise and fall of current during SET and RESET process, respectively.

In this study we demonstrate, that sol–gel route is suitable to quicker obtain calcium hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, CHAp) coatings on crystalline Si substrate by modified dip-coating technique. The substrate was dip-coated by precursor and dried for 10 minutes at 200 °C with following cooling using the heating block for 110 min and annealing at 650 °C. Ethylendiamintetraacetic acid and 1,2-ethandiol, and triethanolamine and polyvinyl alcohol were used as complexing agents and as gel network forming agents, respectively. The obtained coatings were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FTIR spectroscopy and contact angle measurements (CAM).

Thin films in the system (1 - x) PbTiO3−xLa2/3TiO3 were prepared by the sol-gel and dip-coating methods. Phases deposited in the films and the lattice parameters as a function of the composition were investigated by the x-ray diffraction method. The solid solutions with a perovskite structure were formed as a single phase with x up to 0.9. For the composition of x = 1.0, metastable La-Ti-O perovskite phase with a small amount of the impurity phase, La2Ti2O7, was obtained. Simulation of x-ray diffraction patterns based on the defect structure model shows that the structure of the La-Ti-O perovskite phase includes randomly distributed cation vacancies at the A-site, namely (La2/3□1/3)TiO3.

A novel nano-TiO2 coating is prepared by vacuum dip-coating TiO2 sol–gel onto the anodized aluminum surface. The particles of TiO2 anatase is filled into the Al2O3 nano-pores formed by anodization. The structure and composition of the coatings are characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The preponderant bacterium is identified as Pseudomonas lindanilytica strain IPL-1 through analysis of the sequences of S16 nRNA gene segment. In addition, the electrochemical results show that the TiO2 coatings significantly reduce the corrosion rate of Al substrates. The UV reflection spectroscopy is used to determine and analyze that the nano-TiO2 coatings could improve the light photo catalytic activity which decreases microbial influencing corrosion acceleration inhibition (MICI).

In this dissertation, Bi-2212 superconducting tapes was prepared by sol-gel method, in addition we mainly studied heat treatment conditions and sintering material drying conditions of the NiO/Ni substrate, and gived a optimization to the process. The heat treatment process of the NiO/Ni substrate had been researched.Based on previous experience, we explored the temperature of heat treatment and improved the process.Afterheattreatment, the samples was analyzed by metallographic microscope and X-ray diffraction, and we analysed these data. It’s concluded that the dense uniform oxide film can be sintered in 800°C with a 3 hours’ heat treatment. We further explored the conditions of the Bi-2212 superconducting materials.During the preparation. We mainly studied the drying temperature and sintering temperature ,because they would affect the gel phase transition and control components. It has a very important effect on high-quality superconducting strip preparation. Experiments results showed that drying the sample at 510 °C in temperature is best. all the samples was analyzed by X-ray diffraction. We summed up the data derived from experiments , it showed that sintering the sample at 850°C,we can obtain the mixed phase of Bi-2201 and Bi-2212.

In this study, HfxZr1-xO2 (0 < x < 1) thin films were deposited on silicon wafers using a dip-coating technique and by using a precursor solution prepared by the Pechini route. The effects of annealing temperature on the structure and morphological properties of the proposed films were investigated. HfxZr1-xO2 thin films with 1, 3 and 5 layers were annealed in air for 2 h at 600 and 800 °C and the structural and morphological properties studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD results show that the films have monoclinic and tetragonal structure depending of the Hf and Zr concentration. SEM photographs show that all films consist of nanocrystalline grains with sizes in the range of 6 - 13 nm. The total film thickness is about 90 nm.

LiMn2O4spinel cathode materials have been successfully synthesized by solid-state reaction. Surface of these particles was modified by nanostructured LiFePO4via sol gel dip coating method. Synthesized products were characterized by thermally analyzed thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The results of electrochemical tests showed that the charge/discharge capacities improved and charge retention of battery enhanced. This improved electrochemical performance is caused by LiFePO4phosphate layer on surfaces of LiMn2O4cathode particles.
