ABSTRACTLow dimensional lead halide perovskite particles are of tremendous interest due to their size-tunable band gaps, low exciton binding energy, high absorption coefficients, outstanding quantum and photovoltaic efficiencies. Herein we report a new solution-based synthesis of stabilized Cs4PbBr6 perovskite particles with high luminescence. This method requires only mild conditions and produces colloidal particles that are ideal for highly efficient solution-based device fabrications. The synthesized microstructures not only display outstanding luminescence quantum yield but also long term stability in atmospheric conditions. Partial halide substitutions were also demonstrated to extend photoluminescence spectra of the perovskite particles. This convenient synthesis and optical tunability of Cs4PbBr6 perovskite particles will be advantageous for future applications of optoelectronic advices.

ABSTRACTThe native defects introduced by Br2/CH3 OH etching and aging under atmospheric conditions have been investigated in In doped, bulk CdTe using photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The results indicate a large enhancement of the Cd vacancy related 1.5896 eV excitonic feature with chemical treatment and aging. Hence, the primary perturbation is interpreted to be a small loss of Cd within the sampling region. This result is compared and contrasted with previous studies of etching induced modifications. The implications of Cd depletion on interpreting PL spectra, device processing and long term stability are considered.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are the most promising substitute for silicon-based solar cells. However, their power conversion efficiency and stability must be improved. The recombination probability of the photogenerated carriers at each interface in a PSC is much greater than that of the bulk phase. The interface of a perovskite polycrystalline film is considered to be a defect-rich area, which is the main factor limiting the efficiency of a PSC. This review introduces and summarizes practical interface engineering techniques for improving the efficiency and stability of organic–inorganic lead halide PSCs. First, the effect of defects at the interface of the PSCs, the energy level alignment, and the chemical reactions on the efficiency of a PSC are summarized. Subsequently, the latest developments pertaining to a modification of the perovskite layers with different materials are discussed. Finally, the prospect of achieving an efficient PSC with long-term stability through the use of interface engineering is presented.

Properties of CdSe nanocrystals (NCs) fabricated in aqueous solutions at relatively mild conditions in the presence of gelatine and stabilized in polymer (gelatine, gelatine + polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol) matrices are characterized by Raman, optical absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopies. The effect of heating of the reaction mixture on the average NC size is discussed.
