We present new records of the Spot-legged Turtle (Rhinoclemmys punctularia) for the states of Pará and Tocantins, Brazil. These records increase the known geographical distribution of R. punctularia ca. 500 km southward, reaching the southeastern extreme of the Amazon biome. The Tocantins records are from Amazon rainforests habitats as in most of the known range of the species. These new findings highlight the importance of future investigations in order to better understand the distribution of R. punctularia in the South Amazon Basin and ecotones areas.

Background: Derived from the study of the mycobiota associated with Quercus oleoides Schltdl. et Cham., tropical oaks have been explored in Tabasco, finding great diversity in numerous fungal groups, such as boletoids macromycetes.

Question: What is the diversity of the mycobiota of Boletales poroides associated with tropical oaks of Tabasco?

Species Study: Order Boletales

Study sites and date: municipality of Balancán in the state of Tabasco, 2012 – 2016.

Methods: Collections of boletoid fungi associated with Q. oleoides were carried out according to conventional mycology techniques for taxonomic identification, a dichotomous key of the species found was performed and their geographical distribution was analyzed.

Results: Up to now, nine species assigned to five genera and two families of boletoid macromycetes have been identified.

Conclusions: All species are new records for the State, thus expanding its geographic distribution, it is the first record of macromycetes associated with tropical holm oaks in southeastern Mexico.

Here we add a new state record for Cercosaura olivacea in northeastern Brazil and new areas of occurrence in the state of Pernambuco and Sergipe, including the first record of this species in the Caatinga ecoregion. The new records fill a gap of more than 600 km in the distribution of this species on the east coast of Brazil and expand the geographical distribution of the species by 280 km north and 180 km south of the nearest recorded areas of occurrence.

We report two new records of anurans in the northeastern region of the state of Maranhão, Brazil. The records extend the distribution of Hypsiboas boans (Linnaeus, 1758) outside the Amazon basin, and represent the first record of Leptodactylus syphax Bokermann, 1969 for the state of Maranhão.

We reviewed the geographical distribution of Pseudoeryx plicatilis in South America, and present new records in Bolivia and from nine Brazilian states. This is the first record of P. plicatilis in the states of Acre, Amapá, and Roraima, northern region of Brazil. The presence of P. plicatilis in the municipality of Alta Floresta expands its distribution about 650- 700 km northward in the state of Mato Grosso, and about 620 km southward from the nearest localities in the state of Pará. Other new records are presented, which contribute to the knowledge of the distribution of P. plicatilis in South America.

In this study, we present the first record of Ateuchus semicribratus, Canthon simulans, Canthon histrio, Dichotomius carinatus, Eurysternus caribaeus, Eurysternus nigrovirens, and Ontherus sulcator (Coleoptera: Scarabaeinae) for the state of Maranhão, Brazil. These records expand the currently known geographical distribution of these species and contribute to the knowledge of dung beetles in northeastern Brazil.

English. In this work, we provide new records and geographical distribution data for 98 seaweeds (61 Rhodophyta, 22 Ochrophyta, 15 Chlorophyta) inhabiting more than 80 sites (intertidal and subtidal) of the Atlantic Iberian Peninsula. Although the Atlantic marine algae of the Iberian Peninsula are well studied, these new findings show that further floristic studies are necessary to complete our knowledge of the natural heritage of this region.

Immature stages of many Brazilian Smicridea species remains unknown, and efforts to describe all life stages are required. In this paper, the larva and pupa of Smicridea (Rhyacophylax) gladiator Flint 1978, associated with adults through the metamorphotype method, are described and illustrated. In addition, the known distribution of this species is extended in the Brazilian Amazon Basin with new records from Amazonas state and the first record in Pará state. Information about its bionomics is also provided.
