We report new records of pholcid species for northern Argentina. Guaranita yaculica Huber, 2000 and Mesabolivar uruguayensis Machado Laborda, Simó & Brescovit, 2013 are reported for the first time for Corrientes province, whereas Aymaria calilegua Huber, 2000 and Nerudia atacama Huber, 2000 are for the first time reported for Salta province. The last corresponds to a new record for Argentina. We also expand the known distribution of Guaranita goloboffi Huber, 2000, Chibchea salta Huber, 2000, and Pholcus phalangioides (Fuesslin, 1775) for Salta province.

The E. ovina group of species is proposed here to include Edessa ovina Dallas, 1851 from Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina (new records) and Guyana; E. impura Bergroth, 1891 from Brazil and Argentina (new record); E. sahlbergii Stål, 1872 restricted to Brazil; and E. graziae sp. nov. from Brazil and Argentina. The E. ovina group can be identified by the apex of the second pair of wings narrowing distally and by a tumid area on the ventral surface of the pygophore (male genitalia) projected posteriorly. Descriptions, measurements, and illustrations of the metasternal process, external and internal genitalia of male and female are provided. A map with the distribution of the species is presented. The holotype of Edessa ovina is designated here. Edessa argali Breddin, 1903 is considered a junior synonym of E. impura. Females of E. ovina and E. impura, and male of E. sahlbergii are described for the first time.

AbstractWe report new records and corological data for three Moroccan marine macroalgae that complete their distribution information. Radicilingua thysanorhizans is new record for Morocco; Champia compressa is recorded for the first time from the eastern coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Diplothamnion jolyi is widely distributed in the western coast of the Atlantic coast and Pacific Islands, and recently reported from the Mediterranean Sea; this new record from Moroccan Atlantic coast extends their distribution range.Key words: Algae, Atlantic Ocean, Champia compressa, Diplothamnion jolyi, Radicilingua thysanorhizans.ResumenSe aportan nuevos registros y datos corológicos para tres macroalgas marinas de Marruecos, que completan la información sobre su distribución. During a survey on Eriophyoid Mites in southwest of East Azerbaijan province (Iran), Aceria zygofabae n. sp. and Aceria alkannae n. sp. were found on Zygophyllum fabago L. (Zygophyllaceae) and Alkanna bracteosa Boiss. (Boraginaceae), respectively. They are described and illustrated here. Four further Aceria species were collected and identified as A. eucricotes (Nalepa, 1892), A. cynodonis Wilson, 1959, A. chenopodia Xue, Sadeghi & Hong, 2009 and A. tristriata (Nalepa, 1890) (protogyne and deutogyne). Aceria cynodonis is a new record for Iran Eriophyoid fauna whereas the other species were found for the first time in East Azerbaijan.

Fungal diseases of cotton plant (Gossypium hirsutum L.) were studied during July, 2011 to June, 2012. Eleven cotton varieties were selected for the experiment. Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler, Aspergillus niger van Tiegh, Colletotrichum gossypii Sowthworth, Colletotrichum dematium (Pers.) Grove, Curvularia clavata Jain, Fusarium sp., Gleotrichum sp., Hyalopycnis sp., Pestalotiopsis guepinii (Desm.) Stay, and a sterile fungus were isolated from infected leaves of cotton varieties CB6 and CB11. Colletotrichum gossypii was isolated from both the varieties and C. dematium was exclusively isolated from CB6. Varieties CB6 and CB11 were more susceptible than other varieties. Cotton varieties CB1, CB2, and CB3 showed negligible infection on leaves and bolls. Colletotrichum gossypii and Hyalopycnis sp. are new record for Bangladesh. Moreover, association of C. dematium, Gleotrichum sp., P. guepinii and Hyalopycnis sp. with cotton is being reported first time. The three fungi Colletotrichum. gossypii, C. dematium and Hyalopycnis sp. are described and illustrated in this account as new Deuteromycetous records for Bangladesh.Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Vol. 39, No. 2, 213-221, 2015

Two new species of the tribe Helopini (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) are described from Turkey: Nalassus (Nalassus) becvari sp. nov. (Elazığ Province) and Hedyphanes (Hedyphanes) kmenti sp. nov. (Artvin Province). The first species is characterized by strongly thickened antennomeres 2–8 and differs from all Turkish Nalassus s. str. Mulsant, 1854 in the ventral aspect of eye, which bears a weak posterior ventral impression (rather than a distinct groove of other species). The second species belongs to the species group with asperate punctation of the prothoracic hypomera and differs from all Hedyphanes Fischer von Waldheim, 1820 in the presence of suberect pubescence on both sides of elytral base. Distribution of some Helopini (the Helops genus-group, subtribe Helopina) from Anatolia and Cyprus is updated with new data. Hedyphanes mannerheimi Faldermann, 1837 is recorded for Turkey (Iğdır Province) for the first time. Helops caeruleus caeruleus Linnaeus, 1758 from Pervolia is a new record for Cyprus and the occurrence is probably a result of anthropogenic introduction.

Seira dowlingi (Wray, 1953) is recorded for the first time in Peru and Brazil from five states, including Fernando de Noronha archipelago plus a new record from United States. These new records support that S. dowlingi has a wide distribution in Neotropical Region, and expanded to 34 the number of species of Seira Lubbock, 1870 found in Brazil. In addition, our revision excluded the record of Seira domestica (Nicolet, 1842) for Brazil.

This study deals with exploration of freshwater desmids for the first time from Ropar wetland (Ramsar site) of Punjab (India) to assess their taxonomic aspects and bio-geographical distribution. During this study, samples of planktonic, epiphytic and epilithic desmids were collected from littoral zone and were observed under light microscope for their morphometric characteristics based identification. Total 21 desmids species belonging to 4 genera of 2 families (Closteriaceae and Desmidiaceae) were identified from the collected samples. Among them, Cosmarium with 11 species (C. awadhense, C. bioculatum, C. trilobatum, C. divergens, C. granatum, C. moniliforme, C. nitidulum, C. subtumidum, C. reniforme, C. undulatum and C. obtusatum) was found to be most abundant followed by Closterium with 7 species (C. acerosum, C. dianae, C. incurvum, C. leibleinii, C. lunula, C. pritchardianum and C. aciculare), Euastrum with 2 species (E. spinulosum and E. platycerum) and Staurastrum with 1 species (S. crenulatum). The geographic distribution of identified desmid taxa in India has been also recorded. All the desmid taxa identified during this study are new record for the Punjab state of India. The results of this study provide significant baseline data for the future taxonomic and ecological studies from the similar habitats.

A comprehensive revision of the species of the genus Ommatoiulus in Andalusia, southern Spain, is carried out for thefirst time, revealing the presence of a total of 19 species, among which are one new record for the country, one for con-tinental Spain, two new records for Andalusia and 10 species new to science: Ommatoiulus baenai, O. baileyi, O. hoff-mani, O. jaenensis, O. kimei, O. pseudoflagellatus, O. recueroi, O. reipi, O. sabinarensis, O. schubarti n.spp. Thefollowing taxa are synonymised: Schizophyllum hoplites Verhoeff, 1910, S. diplurum appendiculatum Brolemann,1925, and Ommatoiulus diplurus mauriesi Hoffman, 1975, are regarded as junior synonyms of Ommatoiulus diplurus(Attems, 1903), n.syn. Schizophyllum dorsovittatum estrellanum Verhoeff, 1910, and S. calatravanum Brolemann,1920, are junior synonyms of Ommatoiulus dorsovittatus (Verhoeff, 1893), n.syn. Schizophyllum nivale Schubart,1959, is a junior synonym of Omnmatoiulus ilicis (Brölemann, 1896), n.syn. Full descriptions and diagnostic notes areprovided for all the species with accounts on their distributions, habitats, and notes discussing their taxonomy. A di-chotomous identification key, based on gonopod structures, is presented to facilitate species identification. In the dis-cussion section, the general patterns of species distribution are underlined, showing a clear tendency to ‘endemism’ forthe majority of species and to polymorphism for species with broader distribution ranges, especially O. diplurus. A dis-junct distribution Andalusia/Pyrenees is registered for O. ilicis. A comprehensive comparison of gonopods is attempt-ed, and three main types of gonopod configuration are delimited, denoting a wide range of structural complexity. Thefovea, a cavity in the posterior gonopods, is explored for the first time with scanning electron microscopy, revealing anagglutination of spermatozoa and confirming Verhoeff’s original observation dating back nearly 120 years. The con-stancy of the fovea in all Schizophyllini, combined with its absence in the rest of the julids, provides an additional apomorphy for the tribe.

A new Malagasy megalopsidiine rove beetle, Megalopinus puthzi sp. n., is described; the male morphological structures, including the aedeagus, are described for M. lemur Puthz for the first time, and a new record for M. heissi Puthz is given. The distribution and diversity of the sperm pump within Staphylinidae is discussed; the pump is for the first time reported to occur in Megalopsidiinae, Steninae, and Solieriinae; examples in Euaesthetinae and Scydmaeninae are also illustrated.

Fifteen taxa belonging to nine genera (Arcyptera, Ramburiellla, Dociostaurus, Notostaurus, Omocestus, Stenobothrus, Euchorthippus, Pseudochorthippus and Chorthippus) of Gomphocerinae (Orthoptera: Acrididae) were sampled during field trips throughout the different ranges of Turkish Thrace between the years of 2010 and 2015. Bioacoustic parameters of these 15 species have been described for the first time from Turkish Thrace with this study. A total of 5 taxa (Arcyptera (Pararcyptera) microptera microptera, Omocestus (Dirshius) petraeus, Stenobothrus eurasius eurasius, Euchorthippus declivus and C. (Glyptobothrus) biguttulus euhedickei) were identified in the Turkish Thrace region as new records. In addition to these, Stenobothrus eurasius eurasius has been given a new record for Turkey.
