The COVID-19 pandemic has put the educational institutions in front of new challenges. Teaching shifted from real-time offline environment into online digital one. Thus, the social process that allows students to learn from their teachers and lecturers should be preceded at the level of the electronic environment. This has put social and emotional competencies like conflict management, critical thinking, emotions management, team work on the background – all of them important for students’ adaptation and their realization within the society. The authors were provoked to test psychologic-pedagogical experiment with implementing social-psychological training in the pandemic online conflict resolution context.

The phenomenon of gender leadership is a controversial object in contemporary leadership studies. These days, the possibilities of traditional leadership have been limited by the ongoing dynamic, global changes, which have influenced the emergence of female leadership as an independent phenomenon and its separation from the male leadership. Presently, possibilities exist to form new insights about gender leadership. Scholars have begun an intense scientific discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of male and female leadership. The goal of this paper is to disclose the social and emotional leadership competencies of different gender employees. The employed research methods are as follows: an analysis and synthesis of scientific literature with the aim of revealing the peculiarities of gender leadership and defining leadership as a set of social and emotional competencies; quantitative research conducted using a questionnaire-based survey with the aim of empirically determining the manifestation of social and emotional leadership competencies in terms of gender leadership. The theoretical analysis allows us to identify the fundamental trends of gender leadership research. The empirical basis of this article comprises the results of empirical research carried out in 2018. The paper includes an abstract of the theoretical research of gender leadership and the social and emotional leadership competencies based on the research methodology and the results received. According to the results of the empirical research, it is possible to find matching assessments of social and emotional leadership competencies in men and women; certain significant differences exist as well. These results revealed which of the advantages possessed by female leaders tend to lie in their soft management skills: interaction, trust, as well as relationships and skills in working with people.

In the spring of 2020, the rapid spread of COVID-19 caused schools in the U.S. to shift to online education. With the drastic change to online learning, the transition caused many issues that negatively impacted students' and educators' social and emotional learning (SEL) that helped ensure educational productivity. Social and emotional learning includes five competency areas: self-awareness, relationship skills, social awareness, self-management, and responsible decision making. Virtual learning has shifted the attention of educational institutions away from these competency areas due to the limitations of digital classrooms and the prioritization of academic intelligence over emotional intelligence. The chapter provides recommendations to address the social and emotional learning of educators.

The Social and Emotional Competencies Evaluation Questionnaire—Teacher’s version, Short Form (QACSE-P-SF) allows teachers to assess their students’ social and emotional competencies, having been designed for program evaluation. Thirty-nine teachers completed the QACSE-P-SF, regarding 657 students (fourth to ninth grades). Factor analyses supported a six-factor structure with acceptable internal consistency. Sex differences were found with teachers reporting girls as having higher scores on Self-Control, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making. Developmental differences were also found with fourth-grade students presenting higher levels of Social Awareness and Relationship Skills than older students. The final version of the QACSE-P-SF is composed by 30 items, organized into six scales and less time consuming than the previous version for teachers who need to assess full classes.

In Italy, as in many countries, it is difficult to measure the phenomenon of youthful deviance and associate it with the role of educational institutions in growth and training. It is a silent, hidden, overbearing bond, which is not measurable by the indicators represented in the social, psychological and economic systems and which often hides one or many truths (misunderstandings, personal, family and socio-economic distress, baby crime, gang initiation). We will try to highlight the elements of this link.What can be done to reduce the discomfort of young people that very often results in aggressive behavior towards themselves and towards others?

The present study utilized retrospective, autobiographical methodology to investigate the social psychological significance of specific movies, identified as memorable or meaningful for a sample of emerging adults ( N = 83). Participants identified a movie and responded to a series of open-ended prompts including why the movie was chosen, the valence and socio-emotional context of the viewing experience, and its perceived emotional impact. Qualitative coding revealed three themes: Life Lessons ( inspiration, social comparison, coping, and negative contemplation), Character Connections ( identification and idealization), and Social Relationships ( joy, gratitude, and loss). Life Lessons were associated with mixed-valence viewing experiences, significant life events, and ongoing emotional impact. Results highlight the role of movies in the social and emotional development of emerging adults.

This article provides an overview of the phenomenon of labeling and stigma. Research studies are used to illuminate the many ways devalued or discredited identities negatively affect the health and well-being of stigmatized groups and additionally burden the socially and economically marginalized. In addition to conveying an understanding of the social process by which a stigma is developed and the role that culture plays in defining and determining any given stigma, this article offers ways in which social work professionals may counter stigma through education/awareness campaigns and in routine client interactions. Anti-stigma work is presented from social justice and ethical perspectives. Stigma as a social construct is discussed, along with its link to discrimination and prejudice. The article helps to unpack the meaning of stigma, including descriptions of the various forms, levels, and dimensions it may take, affecting all spheres of life, including the social, psychological, spiritual, and physical.
