The main aims and the objectives of the study focused on solving current problems of nanomaterial science of new materials – creating the scientific basis for competitive methods of obtaining and controlling new composite materials having improved strength properties based on carbon-containing polymer matrices with nanotubes stabilized in them. A technology for obtaining experimental samples of nanocompositional polymer material based on polymethylmethacrylate, polybutylmethacrylate, and methacrylic acid doped with carbon nanotubes has been developed, using ultrasonic action and mechanical mixing of the composite mixture to achieve the most uniform distribution of nanotubes in the matrix. To determine the possibility of implementing the mechanism of adsorption interaction of the studied polymer material with the surface of carbon nanotubes, DFT calculations of the interaction of the polymer material component and single-layer carbon nanotubes of various types have been done.

Presents a review of the scientific literature on various methods for producing electrically conductive polymer materials and coatings. The prospects of using carbon nanotubes (CNT) to impart high electrical properties to the surface of materials are shown. The mechanism of formation of the structured surface of polymer materials with CNT is described. It is shown that the use of CNT is a promising way to impart electrically conductive and superhydrophobic properties to the surface.

The Status

This review briefly gives the status of worldwide researches in the aspect of an impact of incorporated fullerenes and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on durability of different polymeric composites under stressful harsh therm-oxidative conditions. It has been inferred that among various nanoparticulates, fullerenes and CNTs are preferable to be used for enhancing thermal and mechanical properties of polymers. Fullerenes C60, C70, fullerene soot and CNTs being integrated in polymer matrix effectively prevent both their thermal and thermoxidative degradation, and photooxidation processes as well.

Inorganic polymer materials known as geopolymer-based materials are always interesting topics for researchers. Geopolymer is environmentally friendly material which has been potential applications for many different fields such as technical materials, building materials, insolation or refractories, and others. This study used ash of brickyard (AB) as a raw material for geopolymerization process to develop novel materials with high porosity. AB is industrial waste of the brick factories that need to be managed to reduce their negative impact to the environment. AB contains high alumino-silicate resources were mixed with sodium hydroxide solution for 10 minutes to obtain the geopolymer pastes. Sodium hydroxide solution was used as an alkaline activator to form geopolymer paste. The geopolymer paste was filled into 5-cm cube molds according to ASTM C109/C109M 99, and then cured at room temperature for 28 days. These products were then tested for compressive strength, volumetric weight, and water absorption. Results indicated that the material can be considered lightweight with a compressive strength at 28 days that are in the range of 8.1 to 15.4 MPa, volumetric weight around 600kg/m3 and water absorption is under 210.65 kg/m3. The properties of geopolymer products were also determined by analytical techniques that included mineral composition by X Ray Diffraction (XRD) and microstructure by scanning electron microscope (SEM).
