The study in hand aimed to determine the effects of integrative pedagogy over the academic performance of secondary school students in the subject of Chemistry. The study was conducted in an experimental framework following the Solomon Four Group Design. A total sample of 120 students of 10th class was randomly taken from 4 private sector Secondary Schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The sample was divided into 4 groups, each having 30 students. Giving a randomized treatment to the groups, two groups were taken as experimental while two were taken as controlled. One experimental and one controlled group were pre-tested for Chemistry subject performance through objective achievement tests, while others were not pre-tested. Both experimental groups were taught through integrative pedagogy while the controlled groups were taught through the traditional method for three months. After regular monthly post-testing, the triplicate data revealed an 11-point average increase in the academic performance of chemistry students in both the experimental groups in comparison to the controlled groups.

This study investigated the impact of family climate on the academic achievement of government and private secondary school students. Three hundred (Boys =150; Girls =150) secondary school students were randomly chosen as the sample of the study from 8 schools (4 government and 4 private) of Aligarh. Family Climate Scale by Dr. Beena Shah (1990) was used to study respondent’s family climate, while their IX class examination results were used as the measure of academic achievement. The hypotheses were tested using the product moment coefficient of correlation to find out the relationship between the family climate and academic achievement, and for measuring the effect of the type of family climate (favorable and unfavorable) on the academic achievement of the students the investigator applied t-test. The results showed that the academic achievements of students are independent of the family environment and parental support provided to them. The study also revealed that private students have good academic records in comparison of government students.

Descriptive geometry is one of the fundamental subjects in the education of future architects, civil engineers and engineers of geodesy. During the course, certain differences in mastering the teaching material have been noticed, as well as the divergence in performance of students in relation to their study program. In order to analyse these differences more closely, we made comparison of the students achievements at the first and second colloquium and final exam, analyzed the differences in relation to the study program, as well as the impact (correlation) of the entrance exam and the success in the secondary school on the final results in the course. Special attention was paid to the analysis of the results of the architecture students in the spatial ability test in order to determine whether the students of the architecture have more success in the subject of Descriptive geometry, considering that they have undergone certain training of spatial abilities through their preparation for the entrance exam.

The main aim of our research was to determine whether the teacher is one of the factors influencing students’ perception of biology as a school subject. The study also aimed to identify the influence of certain other factors in this regard, specifically: students’ gender and place of residence, the number of biology teachers who have taught the students, and theteachers’ gender. The sample consisted of 261 lower secondary school students (ISCED 2) in Slovakia, aged 14 and 15 years. A questionnaire with Likert-type items was used as a research instrument. The findings confirm the impact of the biology teacher on students’ perception of the subject. After removing the influence of the teacher, the students’ gender and placeof residence did not have any significant influence on their perception of the subject. Two additional significant variables were the number of biology teachers who had taught the students and the teachers’ gender. The research confirmed that the teacher’s personality is one of the significant factors that can influence students’ perception of school subjects.

Studies dealing with factors which have an influence on students outcomes are reviewed, teacher variables and teacher training are among their most common findings to influence school achievement. This study analyses the variable in-service teacher training on students? academic achievement. The analysis levels are departments and schools, being department the level where the relation among variables is more significative. There are significative correlations between the in-service teacher training in their own subject and the subject pedagogy in 50% of the analysed departments. In-service teacher training is recommended to be organized, taking into account these differences (context, teacher variables, in- service teacher training variables) among departments, schools and districts to compensate the unequal school variables.
