The paper deals with the automatic measurement of the optic nerve disc diagnostic parameters from eye fundus digital images. The automation gives objective measurements, in contrast to measurements by physicians that have large variance. The disc shape has been detected by the use of mathematical morphological operations, of Canny’s edge detection, of geometric Hough’s transformation and of the approximation by the least square method. The statistical tests confirm that there is no significant difference between measurements performed by physicians and automatic measurements.

The accuracy of edge detection determines the accuracy of actual dimension measurement,in order to improve the measuring accuracy, this paper proposes a fast algorithm of detecting the glass bottle dimension based on Zernike moments. Firstly, combines the traditional Zernike moment-based method with Otsu adaptive threshold algorithm and a new fast algorithm for edge detection is proposed. Then uses this fast algorithm to detect the edge of glass bottle with subpixel-level and uses the least square method to fit ellipses formed by the glass bottle mouth and bottom. Calibrated the system with standard gauge block and obtain the actual dimension at last. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm not only can make the edge detection reach the subpixel-level accuracy, but also can avoid the edge misidentification and inefficient causing by repeatedly manual adjustments to select the threshold value when detecting the edge. Making a rapid, accurate, non-contact measuring system becomes a reality.

The effects of foreign direct investment (FDI), crude oil price and inflation on the export are mainly examined in the case of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam by using data from 2000 to 2015. These countries have opportunity to increased prosperity in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). Therefore, increasing productivity and international trading are important for each country. This study employed panel data model in the analyses and the findings show that Fixed Effect Model with Generalized Least Square method is implemented.  Hence, using this method is determined by likelihood test and Hausman test. The statistical tests in this study consist of partial coefficient test, stimulant, and coefficient of determination. The result shows that FDI and crude oil price have positive effect and significant on export, but inflation has negative effect and significant on export. Constant value shows that each country has the difference condition. Simple bureaucracy is needed to increased efficiency that will attract foreign investors to invest their fund and the discovery of alternative energy and new production technique can increase a country productivity significantly in producing goods or services for both domestic and export-oriented.

Close range photogrammetry (CRP) has gained increasing relevance over the years with its principles and theories being applied in diverse applications. Further supporting this trend, the current increase in the wide spread usage of mobile phones with high resolution cameras is expected to further popularize positioning by CRP. This paper presents the results of an experimental study wherein two (2) non-metric mobile phone cameras have been used to determine the 3-D coordinates of points on a building by using the collinearity condition equation in an iterative least square bundle adjustment process in MATLAB software environment. The two (2) mobile phones used were Tecno W3 and Infinix X509 phones with focal lengths of 5.432 mm and 8.391 mm respectively. Statistical tests on the results obtained shows that there is no significant difference between the 3-D coordinates obtained by ground survey and those obtained from both cameras at 99% confidence level. Furthermore, the study confirmed the capability of non-metric mobile phone cameras to determine 3D point positions to centimeter level accuracy (with maximum residuals of 11.8 cm, 31.0 cm, and 5.9 cm for the Tecno W3 camera and 14.6 cm, 16.1 cm and 1.8 cm for the Infinix X509 camera in the Eastings, Northings and Heights respectively).

Abstract Background and PurposeAutomated brain volume analysis from MRI images, is gaining an important role in computer-aided diagnosis. This study compares the volumes of brain segments that measured by two automated brain analysis software: NeuroQuant and volBrain. The aim is to investigate the quantitative and qualitative reliability of automated brain analysis.MethodsWe compared same brain segment volume measurements, from 45 patients, that calculated with both NeuroQuant and volBrain software. The statistical two-tailed unpaired t-test method used to determine if there is a significant difference on the same segment measurements performed from each software. Additionally, least square method used, to provide any evidence of linear correlation between them. In a case of extreme difference, manual volume measurement of a segment was performed, with JIM8 software.ResultsFrom the comparison of brain segments volumetric measurements made by NeuroQuant and volBrain, the differences for the Intracranial Cavity, Putamen, Thalamus and Amygdala considered extremely significant, the Whole Brain, Cerebellum, Hippocampus considered not significant, White Matter considered quite significant. In most cases strong linear correlation between the two software measurements found.ConclusionsThe unexpected significant differences found in some segments raised questions about the reliability of automated volume analysis as a quantitative tool. Strong linear correlation of the volumes presents that both software finally provides good qualitative information on brain structures, which is an important factor for computed aided diagnosis.

The extraction of ground navigation line is one of the basic technologies of mobile robot visual navigation. Due to the shortcomings of traditional Hough transform and the least square method to extract navigation line, a new method of navigation line extraction based on edge detection is proposed in this paper, which includes three stages: image preprocessing, morphology de-noising and edge detection. First, using monocular camera to collect image of navigation line laid on the ground in advance and preprocesses the collected image, and then using morphology to remove separated points and empties, finally, detects the edge of the processed image, and calculates the slope of navigation line according to the calculated midpoints, then computed the deviated angle of the robot according to the slope and adjusted in real time in order to achieve navigation. Results of experiments show that the method has good feasibility.

Non Performing Assets (NPA‟s) are one of the major areas of concern for the Indian banking industry. Non-Performing Assets are like a double edged sword. They do not generate any income, whereas, the bank is required to make provisions such as assets. (Olekar and Talawar, 2012).NPAs do not just reflect badly in a bank‟s account books, they adversely impact the national economy. There are many research conducted on the topic of Non- Performing Assets (NPA)Management, concerning particular bank, comparative study of public and private banks etc. This paper considers the aggregate data of public sector, private sector and foreign banks and attempts to compare analyze and interpret the NPA management from the year 2009 -2013. On the conceptual side, it gives an overview of NPA, Types of NPA, causes and on the calculation side, it covers various NPA related ratios, use of Least square method for estimating Gross NPAs in the year 2014, and also application of ANOVA test to judge the presence of any significant difference between ratio of Gross NPA to Gross Advances. The findings reveals the percentage of Gross NPA to Gross advances is increasing for public banks, ratio of Loss Advances to Gross Advances are higher in foreign banks, the Estimated Gross NPA for 2014 is also more in public banks as compared to private and foreign banks and from the ANOVA test, it is concluded Ratio of Gross NPA to Gross Advances for public sector, private Sector and foreign Banks does not have significant difference between 2009 to 2013.

The purpose of this paper is to measure the open size of automobile-sensitive component of safety belt by the method of machine vision. At first ,use the CCD camera to get images of the component. Then the software (NI Labview) can help to process those images easily. The needed edge points of the component in the picture can be found after image has been processed by filtering, gray-scale morphological processing, binaryzation and edge detection which has been implemented by Canny algorithm. Through those points we can get the result of the beeline equation by least square method, and finally detected the angle between the two straight lines which stand for different straight edges of the component .And the detected angle values is the open size we need .
