AbstractCardiac hydatid cysts are a rare presentation of hydatid cyst disease in the body, with a reported cardiac involvement rate of <2%. The left ventricle is the most common site of cardiac involvement. Here, we report a patient with a hydatid cyst that ruptured into the pericardium after producing an aneurysm on the right ventricular free wall, appearing as fibrinated fluid and a solid mass lesion in the pericardium. Our aim in this case report was to emphasise that the possibility of a hydatid cyst should not be overlooked in the differential diagnosis of pericardial tumours.

Isolated hydatid disease of the breast is a rare condition, possessing a diagnostic dilemma for the clinicians. Hydatid disease is common in endemic areas affecting most commonly the liver and lungs. Other organs rarely involved are the kidney, bone and brain. It is caused by the parasite Echinococcus granulosus, widely spread by cattle and sheep. Humans are the accidental host for this organism. We present a similar case of isolated hydatid cyst of the breast, which was diagnosed preoperatively and managed successfully.

Acute aortic occlusion (AAO) is an uncommon but potentially devastating vascular emergency with reported perioperative mortality rates of up to 75%. We present the case of AAO in a 69-year-old woman who was transferred to our institution after presenting with sudden onset bilateral acute limb ischaemia. Imaging showed a completely obstructed aortoiliac segment with renal infarcts. She was treated successfully with aortoiliac over the wire thrombectomy.
