Abstract We study sufficient conditions of boundedness of L-index in a direction b ∈ ℂn ∖ {0} for analytic solutions in the unit ball of a linear higher order non-homogeneous differential equation with directional derivatives. These conditions are restrictions by the analytic coefficients in the unit ball of the equation. Also we investigate asymptotic behavior of analytic functions of bounded L-index in the direction and estimate its growth. The results are generalizations of known propositions for entire functions of several variables.

We present a generalization of concept of bounded $l$-index for meromorphic functions of finite order. Using known results for entire functions of bounded $l$-index we obtain similar propositions for meromorphic functions. There are presented analogs of Hayman's theorem and logarithmic criterion for this class. The propositions are widely used to investigate $l$-index boundedness of entire solutions of differential equations. Taking this into account we raise a general problem of generalization of some results from theory of entire functions of bounded $l$-index by meromorphic functions of finite order and their applications to meromorphic solutions of differential equations. There are deduced sufficient conditions providing $l$-index boundedness of meromoprhic solutions of finite order for the Riccati differential equation. Also we proved that the Weierstrass $\wp$-function has bounded $l$-index with $l(z)=|z|.$

This paper studied the asymptotic behavior of a class of nonlinear functional differential equations by using the Bellman-Bihari inequality. We obtain results which extend and complement those in references. The results indicate that all non-oscillatory continuable solutions of equation are asymptotic to at+b as under some sufficient conditions, where a,b are real constants. An example is provided to illustrate the application of the results.

We establish sufficient conditions under which all solutions of the third-order nonlinear differential equation x ⃛+ψ(x,x˙,x¨)x¨+f(x,x˙)=p(t,x,x˙,x¨) are bounded and converge to zero as t→∞.

We partially reinforce some criteria of $L$-index boundedness in direction for functions analytic in the unit ball. These results describe local behavior of directional derivatives on the circle, estimates of maximum modulus, minimum modulus of analytic function, distribution of its zeros and modulus of directional logarithmic derivative of analytic function outside some exceptional set. Replacement of universal quantifier on existential quantifier gives new weaker sufficient conditions of $L$-index boundedness in direction for functions analytic in the unit ball. The results are also new for analytic functions in the unit disc. The logarithmic criterion has applications in analytic theory of differential equations. This is convenient to investigate index boundedness for entire solutions of linear differential equations. It is also apllicable to infinite products.Auxiliary class of positive continuous functions in the unit ball (so-denoted $Q_{\mathbf{b}}(\mathbb{B}^n)$) is also considered. There are proved some characterizing properties of these functions. The properties describe local behavior of these functions in the polydisc neighborhood of every point from the unit ball.

This paper discusses oscillatory and asymptotic properties of solutions of a class of second-order nonlinear damped neutral differential equations. Some new sufficient conditions for any solution of the equation to be oscillatory or to converge to zero are given. The results obtained extend and improve some of the related results reported in the literature. The results are illustrated with examples.

The asymptotic behavior of nonoscillatory solutions of nth order nonlinear functional differential equationsis investigated. Sufficient conditions are provided which ensure that all nonoscillatory solutions approach zero as t → ∞.

With differential equations in the neighbourhood of an irregular singular point, it sometimes happens that formal solutions may converge. For example, this occurs for Bessel's equation at∞ when the parameter is half of an odd integer. In addition, there are some classical theorems of Perron and Lettenmeyer which give sufficient conditions for the existence of linearly independent analytic solutions at (generally) an irregular singular point. Using the principle of reduction of order, such a solution may be used to transform the differential equation into one whose coefficient matrix is triangularly blocked with an (n – 1) and 1-block on the diagonal. The solutions of the given differential equation can thus be obtained by solving a lower dimensional differential equation plus quadrature.

In this paper, for a given direction b ∈ C n \ { 0 } we investigate slice entire functions of several complex variables, i.e., we consider functions which are entire on a complex line { z 0 + t b : t ∈ C } for any z 0 ∈ C n . Unlike to quaternionic analysis, we fix the direction b . The usage of the term slice entire function is wider than in quaternionic analysis. It does not imply joint holomorphy. For example, it allows consideration of functions which are holomorphic in variable z 1 and continuous in variable z 2 . For this class of functions there is introduced a concept of boundedness of L-index in the direction b where L : C n → R + is a positive continuous function. We present necessary and sufficient conditions of boundedness of L-index in the direction. In this paper, there are considered local behavior of directional derivatives and maximum modulus on a circle for functions from this class. Also, we show that every slice holomorphic and joint continuous function has bounded L-index in direction in any bounded domain and for any continuous function L : C n → R + .

The following differential equationu(n)(t)+p(t)|u(σ(t))|μ(t) sign  u(σ(t))=0is considered. Herep∈Lloc(R+;R+),  μ∈C(R+;(0,+∞)),  σ∈C(R+;R+),  σ(t)≤t, andlimt→+∞⁡σ(t)=+∞. We say that the equation is almost linear if the conditionlimt→+∞⁡μ(t)=1is fulfilled, while iflim⁡supt→+∞⁡μ(t)≠1orlim⁡inft→+∞⁡μ(t)≠1, then the equation is an essentially nonlinear differential equation. In the case of almost linear and essentially nonlinear differential equations with advanced argument, oscillatory properties have been extensively studied, but there are no results on delay equations of this sort. In this paper, new sufficient conditions implying PropertyAfor delay Emden-Fowler equations are obtained.
