AbstractThis work presents a novel combining method called ‘orthogonalizing ORing $\bigcirc\!\!\!\!\!\!\vee $’ which enables the building of the union of two conjunctions whereby the result consists of disjointed conjunctions. The advantage of this novel technique is that the results are already presented in an orthogonal form which has a significant advantage for further calculations as the Boolean Differential Calculus. By orthogonalizing ORing two calculation steps - building the disjunction and the subsequent orthogonalization of two conjunctions - are performed in one step. Postulates, axioms and rules for this linking technique are also defined which have to be considered getting correct results. Additionally, a novel equation, based on orthogonalizing ORing, is set up for orthogonalization of every Boolean function of disjunctive form. Thus, disjointed Sum of Products can be easily calculated in a mathematical way by this equation.

Background: The aim of the present work was to set-up compounds that are able to act simultaneously as antimalarial and antioxidants. Trolox, a known antioxidant was chosen as a core structure to ensure the antioxidant activity and contribute to antiplasmodial effect. Results: Ten compounds were prepared in one step and evaluated on chloroquino-sensitive (3D7) and chloroquino-resistant (FcB1) strains of Plasmodium falciparum. The most active compound (3d) shows antiplasmodial activity in the range of chloroquine against chloroquino-sensitive and chloroquino-resistant P. falciparum strain. The antioxidant activity of (3d) was conducted through four tests and was found to be more potent than trolox itself and L-ascorbic acid. Conclusion: Compound (3d) can be considered as an excellent lead molecule for further in vivo studies. This study paves the way for building large chemical libraries to be investigated in the field of malaria.

Purpose. To report a novel technique of cross-knotted suture basket and to test its effectiveness in large nonmagnetic intraocular foreign body (IOFB) removal. Methods. A 7/0 Vicryl suture was cut in half and cross-knotted, and four ends were introduced into a 23G needle to form a basket. Pig eyes were used to set up the IOFB model, and the effectiveness of the suture basket in the removal of large nonmagnetic intraocular foreign bodies was tested. Results. Several modifications can be made to adapt to different situations. For the materials (stone, metal, glass, and wood) and shapes (irregular, spherical, and rectangle) of large IOFB tested, the cross-knotted suture basket successfully removed all kinds of IOFBs. Conclusion. The suture basket technique provides an accessible, safe, and effective alternative in large nonmagnetic IOFB removal. It can be adapted and interchangedand also worth’s further clinical investigations.

Recently, we reported the use of CO2 laser pyrolysis for the synthesis of promising Fe/C/N electrocatalysts for Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR) in fuel cells. The set-up used single laser pyrolysis of an aerosolized solution of iron acetylacetonate in toluene with ammonia, both as laser energy transfer agent and nitrogen source. In the present paper, we investigate the effect of a second ammonia promoted CO2 laser pyrolysis on the feature and ORR activity of Fe/C/N electrocatalysts. Indeed, compared to single pyrolysis, the second ammonia promoted CO2 laser pyrolysis could be an interesting way to synthesize in one-step performing ORR electrocatalysts on a large scale. For this comparison, a two-stage reactor was built, allowing both single ammonia-induced CO2 laser pyrolysis as reported previously or double ammonia-induced CO2 laser pyrolysis. In the latter configuration, the catalyst nanopowder flow is formed at the first stage of the reactor, then mixed with a second ammonia flow and allowed to cross a second CO2 laser beam, thus undergoing a second ammonia-induced CO2 laser pyrolysis before being collected on filters. It is found that the second ammonia-induced CO2 laser pyrolysis significantly improves the ORR performances of the materials prepared by single CO2 laser pyrolysis. The effect is demonstrated for three different catalysts for which the onset potentials for the ORR from single-stage to double-stage configuration increase from 625 mV to 845 mV, 790 mV to 860 mV, and 800 mV to 885 mV, respectively. The selectivity of the ORR was determined at 600 mV/SHE and lie between 3.41 and 3.72. These promising performances suggesting potentialities for the one-step formation of highly active Fe/C/N ORR electrocatalysts are discussed, based on results of surface analysis by XPS, specific surface area measurements, and Raman spectroscopy.

AbstractA novel rapid densification technique for fabrication of bulk shape YBa2Cu307–xsuperconductor is presented. The Ceracon process is a one‐step, quasi‐isostatic consolidation route utilizing conventional P/M equipment and set‐up. The Ceracon technology has enabled successful fabrication of bulk, shapes such as discs, cylinders, hollow cylinders and spheres along with significant increases in the density up to 95‐98% of the theorertical. The superconducting volume fraction is preserved due to short hold times at the operating temperatures and avoidance of high processing temperatures. Results based on densities, microstructure, susceptibility measurements, X‐ray diffraction patterns and TGA measurements are discussed.

Primary purpose of restorative dentistry is to preserve pulp vitality. Besides calcium hydroxide, the application of calcium silicate cements as a material for direct pulp capping has become used recently. The aim of our study was to investigate the influence of materials for direct and indirect pulp capping on the bond strength of composite restorations using two different self etch dentin adhesives. The test was performed on 60 intact molars extracted for periodontal or orthodontic reasons. The prepared samples were divided into the two groups and three subgroups depending on the adhesive and pulp cupping material. Two different calcium silicate based materials were used for pulp cupping. One step and two steps self etch dentin adhesive was applied to prepared specimens depending on the group and with the help of a specially made metal mold set up a composite post. The share bond strength was assessed using a universal testing machine. The results showed significant difference in the share bond strength between the samples treated with TheraCal LC and Biodentine with TheraCal LC being superior to Biodentine.

Nobody is planning to fail, but many companies are failing because of lack of planning.Real business experience showed during the years that crisis can be prevented, avoided or limited. If detected in time, the risks associated with the crisis can be mitigated and the effects can be diminished, with the condition that the actions required are done fast, in a sharp and accurate manner.            When it comes, a crisis brings intense level of pressure and under these conditions there is no time or room for mistakes. Delays, losing focus and lack of planning will bring a company one step away from failure.             The right way to deal with crisis, if required measures are not done in time, is to minimize the losses and reposition in the best way possible.            Analyzing the success stories of some of the biggest and strongest companies in the world, led to an important conclusion: the majority of these companies were in the situation to face huge crises that threatened their ability to survive in certain moments on their way to success.            With the right planning and by setting a proper organizational structure, the negative aspects of the crisis can be turned into benefits and opportunities for the company.            The most critical challenge for management is to assess the level of exposure to risk of the company and identify the key points to focus on in order to overcome the crisis and create value.             In order to set up a strong plan in dealing with crisis, a business organization needs reliable, efficient and effective tools and this is what this article is all about.

Much has been said these days about the World’s limited capacity to provide sustainable resources vis a vis the growing population's demand for goods and supplies in a planet of finite resources. According to the Living Planet Report, produced by the NGO World Wildlife Fund (WWF): “At humanity's present rate of consumption, by 2030 we'll need the resources of two Earths just to survive long-term. There are really two options: start building another Earth, or drastically change our lifestyles. Which one is supposed to be easier?”[1]The present article addresses this issue from the point of view of the marketing executives of big companies, responsible to lead the communication and growth strategies of those companies, often encouraging 'consumerism' to meet the profit and revenue growths. The idea was to understand if this topic is relevant to these professionals,hence their companies, and raise some hypotheses of how to approach this problem in order to provoke those companies to practice "conscious marketing". Going one step further, does the type of organizational paradigm in which the executive company acts should influence the way to approach this professional when conducting personal interviews to collect data?
