Abstract A collaborative study of a method for the determination of copper, Iron, and nickel in edible oils and fats by direct graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry was recently conducted by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. The quantitation limits of the method are 5 μg/kg for copper and 10 μg/kg for iron and nickel. The method has been adopted official first action as an IUPACAOAC method.
