Abstract The public university is a peculiar mix of features of corporations, public office, and the legacy of a tradition of federalism and academic freedom. Hence its programming information, understood as the primary management tool, requires a specific approach. This article (on the nature of the study) discusses the challenges of research by referring to selected participating (action research) carried out in the course of the implementation of information technology (IT) projects at the Warsaw University of Technology in the years 2013–15. Computerization of university is a complex, ongoing process, which depends on many factors, limited all kinds of regulations that requires making the right decision at every stage. The introduction of standardized and business processes is expensive and associated with organizational changes. However, it brings benefits in terms of new technologies, reduce operating costs and increase flexibility to respond to changing external conditions. Informatics is a dynamic process, that usually lasts as long as the organization works and develops. Organization and her environment are changing, it requires to adapt hardware and software solutions [2].

The public University of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski in Warsaw (UKSW) came into being from the transformation in 1999 from the ecclesiastical college – Academy of the Catholic Theology. The statutes UKSW bases the activity of the University on Polish right, also that within the framework of UKSW are the place for ecclesiastical faculties: The Faculty of the Theology, The Canon Law Faculty and the Faculty of the Christian Philosophy. The originality of these faculties gets out of their directing on the Christian Revelation and the realization of the evangelization mission on the scientific ground. A second factor distinctive from other faculties UKSW is the dependence from the canonical right, at the simultaneous observance of the Polish law. The article showed that three church faculties UKSW kept their own canonical status. This legal status confirm records of the law the Right about the higher educational system (2005 year). Ecclesiastical faculties UKSW in Warsaw compose the perfect foot-bridge for the dialogue between the faith and the mind. Across their own investigative space fill up research of other sciences with which determine universitas. These departments are an important part of the University.

A better understanding and prediction of the dynamic processes that govern the coastal zone is the topic of the current paper; in particular, a deep investigation of the coastal processes that affect the shoreline dynamic and flood inundation risk is carried out at the Annunziata river mouth area (Italy). The Annunziata River is situated in the Northern part of Reggio Calabria city; it is, at the same time, a source of danger and an important environmental and hydrological resource for Reggio Calabria, since on the right side there is the city port and on the left side there is the public beach. The protection and management of coastal areas should be supported by a deep knowledge of the interaction between water motion and seabed topography, which affects the natural response of coastal systems to changes in external conditions and to human interferences. This work tries to analyze the coastal morphology through the use of some recent models based on spectral theory.

This paper compares theoretically three alternative university systems: the current one adopted in Brazil, in which students who perform better in the entering exam obtain the right to attend the public university without paying the full tuition; a system of affirmative action quotas in public universities, to benefit low income students; and a targeted vouchers system that can be used either to pay private or public university tuiton. The comparison indicates that the last system leads to: (i) a higher quality of the labor force; (ii) a more efficient allocation of resources; and (iii) a greater social mobility.

Competition requirements and the desire to succeed are encouraging banks to continually seek new products and services. Technology development enables banks to in¬troduce new technologies, optimize delivery processes, and create the basis for information exchange and sales across all distribution channels. It is often the brake of innovation that ensures the right level of security. This is mainly due to the specificity of the institution, which is the bank and the need to maintain the confidence of the public. The aim of the study is to analyze selected banking innovations on the example of banks. The types of inno¬vations in the banking sector will be discussed and their significance for the competitiveness of the bank will be assessed.

The EU does not aim to harmonize the public administration of Member States, although, in recent years, there have been several examples which prove that EU legislation in whatever policy inevitably and unavoidably results in some standardization. In 2015 the EU replaced its former decision with a directive to enhance Member States to co-ordinate consular assistance in third States. Every EU citizen has the right to enjoy, in the territory of a third State in which the Member State of which they are nationals is not represented, the protection of the diplomatic and consular authorities of any Member State on the same conditions as the nationals of that State. This provision of Article 23 of TFEU not solely requires the cooperation of administrative authorities of foreign service but implicitly means a kind of harmonization of substantive law, leads to organizational changes and affects administrative procedural rules of Member States.

Non-profit organizations such as public sector organizations have some specifics, which make renovation projects significantly different. It is clear that radical changes in the execution of business processes and in the organizational structures are not suitable for the public sector because they are not possible for many, also political, reasons. A business process change in public sector mostly means unification of business processes, automation of some activities and elimination of some unnecessary ones. Organizational changes are achievable only to a certain limit. Therefore classic business process renovation methodologies have to be adapted. The proposed methodology that is presented in the paper has been successfully applied in a process change project at one of the Slovene Ministries, which is presented as a case study. Activities, techniques, and tools are proposed for each of the six traditional business process change project’s stages. Problems and topics to which special attention has to be paid are also discussed.

The article aims to identify modern technological solutions in the field of automation and robotization of business processes that change the way hotel enterprises operate in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the research problem was expressed in the form of a question: what tools favor the dynamic digital transformation of hotel functioning models and the implementation of the paradigm of intelligent and autonomous entities operating in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic on the hotel market? During the empirical research, the use and implementation of new solutions in the field of innovative technologies supporting the optimization of processes taking place in hotel enterprises were considered. In addition, technologies and tools were identified that are considered strategic from the perspective of implementing the concept of an autonomous hotel carried out under the influence of the crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the specific purpose of the article, a survey was conducted using the questionnaire method with the Computer Assisted Web Interview technique alongside a self-developed questionnaire. The survey was carried out in June-September 2021 among 462 representatives of hotel companies operating in the three-, four- and five-star standards. The results of the diagnostic survey were statistically analyzed using the Statistica and RStudio software packages. To interpret the obtained data, the descriptive method, principal component analysis, and cluster analysis were used. As a result of the conducted research, it was noticed that the COVID-19 pandemic obligated hotels to automate processes that made it possible to connect devices within digital ecosystems and to optimize processes inside vertical and horizontal value chains. Such activities enabled the creation of a new model of hotel functioning referred to as an autonomous enterprise. Nowadays, one of the most important strategic behaviors of hotel entities is the ability to quickly counteract crises resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the related choice of the right course of action, as well as the ability to immediately make the right decisions. The research results may motivate the implementation of new technologies in the area of transforming and developing digital business models by hotels. The issues presented in the article are an attempt to fill the gap by pointing out practical experiences related to the use of individual technological solutions and their effectiveness in process automation and implementation of autonomous models of functioning of entities in the hotel services sector.
