The IUPAC Commission on Isotopic Abundances and Atomic Weights (II.1) met under the chairmanship of Dr. Juris Meija, at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, Austria, prior to the 48th IUPAC General Assembly in Busan, Korea, in August 2015. Following its meeting, the Commission recommended a change to the standard atomic weight of ytterbium. The IUPAC Bureau, at its meeting on 14 August, approved this change.

Abstract It is hard to imagine IUPAC without the Periodic Table, and in turn, without atomic weights. As IUPAC celebrates its centennial, its oldest body, the Commission on Isotopic Abundances and Atomic Weights (CIAAW) turns 120. The parent Commission was formed in March 1899 and its inaugural task was to decide the atomic weight standard: should it be based on hydrogen or oxygen? Although the issue was settled in favor of oxygen, when the CIAAW formally joined the IUPAC in 1919, the question of the atomic weight scale was back for debate suggesting that many issues before this Commission transcend their scientific merit. In fact, many view the Periodic Table and changes therein as a part of larger cultural fabric of science so any changes are likely to be debated for a long time.

Dear colleagues I am glad to announce the release of the Efficient Waste Treatment conference proceedings (EWT-2021)! Despite the pandemic conditions, we managed to successfully hold an online (zoom) conference and discuss possible solutions for waste management in terms of energy, environmental and economic factors. A competent approach allowed us not to postpone the event, which took place on June 21, 2021. Conference model: Plenary session with keynotes (40 minutes for each keynote speech) + participants’ presentations (20 minutes for each presentation). There were two keynote speakers at the conference with extensive presentations: ✓ Svetlana Zueva, dr. eng., research scientists at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Information and Economy, University of L’Aquila (Italy). ✓ Natalia Politaeva, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor at the Graduate School of Hydraulic and Power Engineering Construction, Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russia). Topics discussed were: Waste treatment in various regions and countries; Economic issues of waste management; Municipal solid waste; Water treatment and sewage sludge utilization; Industrial, construction and medical wastes; Mathematical modeling of ecological processes; Sustainable mining and processing of minerals; Agriculture & farming; Adaptive landscape farming systems; Environmental and construction engineering; Ecotourism. The study focused basically on measuring the relationship between the material cost of the students benefits program and the benefits which are earned by it, which was distributed on college students in the initial stages (matinee) and to show the extent of the benefits accruing from the grant program compared to the material burdens which matched and the extent of success or failure of the experience and its effect from o scientific and side on the Iraqi student through these tough economic circumstances experienced by the country in general, and also trying to find ways of proposed increase or expansion of distribution in the future in the event of proven economic feasibility from the program. An data has been taking from the data fro the Department of Financial Affairs and the Department of Studies and Planning at the University of Diyala with taking an data representing an actual and minimized pattern and questionnaires to a sample of students from the Department of Life Sciences in the Faculty of Education of the University of Diyala on the level of success and failure of students in the first year of the grant and the year before for the purpose of distribution comparison. The importance of the study to measure the extent of interest earned in comparision whit the material which is expenseon the program of grant (grant of students) to assist the competent authorities to continue or not in the program of student grants for the coming years.
