The aim of this paper is to introduce to the education community to a newly developed 'Learner Centred Learning-By-Designing Extended Cyberhunts' (LCLBDEC) strategy for teaching and learning in schools. The main focus of the strategy is to enable learners to become designers of an educational tool which assists them to learn during the design process, and also can be used by other learners or students to get a better understanding of a topic. It is suggested that the strategy assists learners to clarify misconceptions that they might have and that it allows them to address aspects in the curriculum when there is not enough time to do so in class. During the initial stages of the strategy, learners are exposed to teacher designed Cyberhunts, a strategy that can be used to introduce learning by design to novices. As the learners become more computer literate, they become the designers instead of the teacher. Learners search for information online on a topic or theme and then are not only required to create questions on as many different cognitive levels as possible, but also to compose a complementing memorandum. The strategy is not meant to be in competition with WebQuests and other similar approaches, but should be seen as an additional information communication and technology (ICT) strategy to complement those that already exist.

The use of ICT creates a powerful learning environment and it transforms the learning and teaching process in which students deal with knowledge in an active, self-directed and constructive way (Volman & Van Eck, 2001). This study was conducted to investigate students’ attitude towards use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning in public secondary schools in Kieni East Subcounty,Nyeri County,Kenya. The objectives of the study are to (i) establish E-readiness in teaching and learning (ii) explore attainment of computer skills and (iii) assess the extent to which students access ICTs in teaching and learning. The sample comprised of 14 female students and 28 male students. Questionnaires were administered to students. Findings indicated that 67% and 81% of the female and male students respectively had no access to internet. The study revealed that 80% of the female students can open and create a document while 57.1% of the male students preferred computer studies to other subjects. The level of students’ attitude towards ICT in teaching and learning was positive despite the challenges in its integration in public secondary schools in Kieni- East Subcounty. The study recommends that schools buy enough computers and install network for use by the students.

Kuwait is an oil rich country planning for a future that is not dependent on exploiting natural resources. A major policy initiative has been the introduction of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to schools. However, contextual issues and teacher capabilities in the use of ICT have limited the success of this initiative. The study examines the leadership strategies of two secondary school principals whose schools have achieved this goal. The case study draws on intensive data collected through interviews of the principals, and teachers supported by document analysis and observations. Analysis was guided by theoretical perspectives drawn from the literature which identified a range of strategies used by the principals to manage change. The principals of Schools A and B employed three key strategies to maximise the impact on the teaching staff incorporating ICT into their teaching and learning practices. These strategies were: (a) encouragement for teaching staff to implement ICT in their teaching; (b) support to meet the material and human needs of teaching staff using ICT; and (c) provision of instructions and guidance for teaching staff in how and why such behaviours and practices should be performed. The outcome of this study proposes an innovative change leadership model that informs emerging countries, which are also undergoing major change related to ICT. However, the study also revealed limitations in the implementation of ICT in the classroom and provides insights into further strategies that principals need to adopt.

Abstract: The emergence of the industrial revolution 4.0 has led to the development of information, communication and technology (ICT) which predicts that 50 billion electronic devices interact with each other. Therefore, this study aims to look at the effectiveness of ICT use among students in the state of Terengganu in conjunction with the advent of the industrial revolution 4.0. This article is a quantitative study using the survey method. The questionnaire is used to collect the required data and information. A total of 102 regular daily SMK students in Terengganu was involved in this study. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 using descriptive and inferential analysis methods. The findings of this study indicate that there is no significant difference in the level of understanding of IR 4.0 based on gender and school location factors. The study also found that there was no significant difference in the use of ICT as a medium of learning based on school location. However, there is a significant correlation between the understanding of IR 4.0 on the use of ICT in learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that students in Terengganu state ICT as a means of gaining and sharing knowledge as well as the medium of learning today. The results of this study are expected to provide important information to the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) in enhancing the integration of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in the teaching and learning process (PdPc) in schools.
