<span>The introduction of an online learning management system (LMS) raises a number of complex issues involving institutional responses at various levels to the adoption and diffusion of technological change. Issues include those related to governance, management and technical support, as well as to core learning and teaching matters associated with the professional development and teaching of academic staff, and the support of staff and students. This paper draws on two cycles of an evaluation conducted in one institution as </span><em>WebCT Vista</em><span> was introduced and piloted, highlighting the key issues that emerged from the evaluation. These issues are considered in the context of a selected model for examining the adoption and diffusion of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in higher education, with a view to analysing the outcomes of the initiative, and guiding future planning.</span>

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has led to the use of new and digital technologies in education which involves combinations of text, graphics, audio, video, animations and other eLearning resources such as authoring tools, Learning Management System (LMS), Mobile learning and others. Arguably, using LMS leaves much to be desired. The inherent problem here is that the future of extensive adoption of ICT via LMS to enhance and promote classroom interaction in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is bleak. This is worrisome given that the country is lagging far behind in the innovative use of this web 2.0 technology to impart knowledge. Further, the low-level application of LMS in instruction connotes the loss of inherent advantages in its adoption. Also, the online setting which makes students less nervous and interactive, sharing of ideas and viewpoints; and a host of other benefit will be lost. While evidence has shown that LMS is not a new phenomenon, the use of LMS in ODL is still at its infancy, particularly in Nigeria. Research in this area is rare. A quick search on prominent research databases could testify that. It is on this thrust that this study investigates University of Ibadan undergraduate students&rsquo; perceived roles and readiness towards integration of learning management system into teaching and learning.

<span>Many higher education institutions have implemented a learning management system (LMS) to manage online learning and teaching, with varying levels of support provided to staff and students, but often there is little subsequent investigation into the quality of the online sites or the use made of the support structures provided. This paper presents findings from an institutional survey investigating the use of </span><em>WebCT</em><span>by academic staff and students in their learning and teaching at a large Australian university. It was expected that student feedback would relate to technical and infrastructure issues, but instead, the survey elicited responses primarily on how </span><em>WebCT</em><span> was used in teaching and learning, indicating that quality control is a major issue for the University. Student opinions appear to reflect more the use of the technology made by teaching staff - students who have experienced a well-designed unit rich with resources, timely feedback and good interaction with staff reported a positive experience with the technology. Staff responses are more focused on the technical and administrative aspects of using </span><em>WebCT</em><span> rather than teaching issues. The findings in this paper have implications for quality teaching and learning with technology, and the way in which tertiary institutions support academic staff.</span>

The information and communication technologies-ICT, have more use with the implementation of Learning Management System-LMS; The present study was carried out to evaluate the use of four LMS in a university, to identify acceptance and performance, through the student's inputs, the LMS used: Edmodo, Classroom, Schoology and Moodle, the methodology consisted of 4 stages; 1) LMS selection, 2) conFiguretion LMS, 3) evaluation of acceptance factors and 4) calculation of statistical coefficients. The results obtained from the four LMS, Google Classroom in its conFiguretion has the highest level of performance, with an average of 73%; while for the statistical coefficients; Of seven factors evaluated for the level of acceptance, those with the greatest preference for the learners were System Factors FS (82%), Anxiety and innovationAI (80%) and Virtual Library BV (43%).

Following a realization that a Web-based Learning Management System (LMS) deployed by a University in Ghana remained largely unused by instructors, the university’s management intervened. The university wishes to expand access to its educational resources through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Since instructors play a pivotal role in this direction, all instructors were trained, motivated, and appropriately resourced to enable them to use the LMS effectively to deliver courses. Five years down the line, however, most instructors are still ambivalent towards using the LMS software. This chapter discusses the case extensively and concludes by suggesting that one approach that might help solve the problem will be to engage all instructors in participatory activities aimed at collectively identifying and addressing the issues and challenges.

The introduction of information and communication technologies (ICT) allows to more effectively and efficiently solve planning and organization tasks, as well as implementation and monitoring of educational process, which are usually handled by the dean's office. The article shows how the functions of electronic dean's office can be implemented in Moodle learning management system using public plugins. In particular, the methods for collection, processing and generalization of operational information about students’ performance are considered. A method of students’ enrollment is offered. The method uses the meta courses and cohorts mechanisms, which allow significantly reduce the amount of work for site administration.

Over a number of years, the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has encouraged and supported moves to Learning Management System (LMS) replacing aspects of paper-based and face-to-face teaching and learning including, assignments, workshops and examination. The views of learners and academics were explored to consider the advantages of the system as well as potential challenges. Twenty-two participants were involved in qualitative data gathering by means of focus group discussion and semi-structured interviews, which were comprised of 12 M.Phil students and 10 academics from the Faculty of Education. Thematic analysis was carried out by applying themes and codes. Numerous advantages were identified with the use of Learning Management System. However, it was found that the approach did face some challenges. Learners often lacked easy Internet access and the necessary skills to use new technologies efficiently. Academic staff required considerable time for the development of online materials. Major training needs arising from the findings and it was recommended that the university must consider setting up small campuses in rural areas as well as provided mandatory training and support for learners, especially those from rural areas. There is also a need for formal training for academic staff and the sharing of ways by which the new technologies can be used effectively and efficiently in enhancing all aspects of distance learning.

The education information delivery system at the MA Alwutsqo school is still being carried out as usual even though the pandemic outbreak in Indonesia is still not over. Because the school does not have a system to support distance learning. By implementing health protocols and teaching and learning time events, students often do not get an understanding of the material presented by the teacher. Learning Management System (LMS) is one of the systems needed by the school. Therefore, the authors designed a website-based E-learning application system with the aim of helping the learning and teaching process at MA Alwutsqo Depok City. The design of this information system uses waterfalls and system development is carried out using the Agile method. The result is that students can download the material that has been delivered and can do the exercises given by the teacher without recommendations by time and space.Keywords:E-learning, Webite, Metode Waterfall, Metode Agile, Learning Management System (LMS).

New pedagogical approaches are required to prepare future professionals. The educational model must be in consonance with the information and communication technologies. They help to improve knowledge dissemination and reduce space and time limitations between teachers and students. They should also motivate students and stimulate communication and collaboration among students, improving the learning process. Currently, the Institute of Exact and Applied Sciences of the Federal University of Ouro Preto (IEAS/UFOP) has no institutionalized tools of information and communication for teaching support. This allows the identification of some problems and difficulties on the educational process, such as absence of a centralized way to provide and access didactic resources, unavailability of a good communication tool between teachers and students, and lack of easy access to academic performance information for self evaluation. This chapter presents the authors' experience in choosing and evaluating a Learning Management System (LMS) to support classroom teaching at the IEAS. The authors investigate how the use of a LMS may improve teaching in the following aspects: (1) availability of didactic resources; (2) class planning and following up; (3) teacher-student communication; (4) monitoring of the academic performance of students during the course; (5) collaboration among students.

Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) vision is to become a university with international repute. The Strategic Plan Document 2001- 2010 includes a goal for the university to be fully wired through ICT in enhancing research, extension work, professional service, strengthening teaching and learning environment and enhancing the culture of ICT in supporting teaching and learning. Two strategies were drawn; namely (i) implement the use of one learning management system (LMS) and (ii) enhance competency of academic staff in using the LMS. It has been a practice that each faculty decides on a platform for implementing e-Learning. However, the use of various LMSs had created difficulties in the sharing of integrated database, continuous monitoring of the effectiveness of the e-Learning system, and depository of e-Learning resources in the UPM’s knowledge repository. This paper reports on UPM’s experience in adapting the use of LMS from the early 1990s until today.

Polytechnics throughout Malaysia have implemented e-learning using Learning Management System (PMS) Modle as the government want in the field of information and communication technologies. This study aims to discover the certainty of student acceptance and usability of the SPP system Modle known as Curriculum Online Document Information System (CIDOS).
