Monitoring of school and university students’ functional status using the health promoting technologies

Aim: The aim of this study was to test the structural equation model of relationships between attachment styles and self-differentiation with academic performance of university students with the mediating role of health-promoting lifestyle. Methods: The method of this research was descriptive and correlation type. The statistical population consisted of all undergraduate students of Shahid Beheshti University (1554 people) in the academic year of 2018-2019. The sample size was estimated to be 308 based on Cochran formula. Eventually 305 questionnaires were finalized. Research tools included the Self-Distinction Questionnaire (Skowron & Schmitt, 2003), the Adults Attachment Inventory (AAI) (Hazen and Shaver, 1987), the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile (Walker, Sichrist & Pender, 1995) and the Educational Performance Test (Pham and Taylor, 1999) were used and data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistical methods (Pearson correlation, path analysis and structural equation modeling) using SPSS 23 and AMOS 26 statistical softwares. Findings: The results showed that attachment styles and self-differentiation have a significant relationship with academic performance and these variables are able to directly predict academic performance (p<0.01). Promotional lifestyles can also play a mediating role between attachment styles and self-differentiation with academic performance (p<0.01). Conclusion: Regarding the relationship between attachment styles, self-differentiation and health-promoting lifestyle with academic performance, special attention to these variables is necessary to improve student performance.

University is a critical stage of life in which students are more likely to engage in unhealthy health behaviors such as physical inactivity, stress, and bad dietary habits. Health-promoting behaviors are an important component of a healthy lifestyle and have been reported as a key factor in sustaining and improving one's health. This study aimed to determine the healthy and unhealthy lifestyles of students in KPK universities by gender and location. In total, 384 university students took part in the study, with 200 authentic and fully completed questionnaires used to determine the overall sample. Data was gathered from six universities in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Males made up the majority of participants (109, 54.2 percent), while females made up the rest (91, 45.3 percent). The findings revealed that the causes had a significant effect on the health of university students. Adherence to guidelines for physical activity and healthy eating habits was found to be insufficient among students.

Salutogenic landscape with its health-promoting qualities is a solution for ever-increasing problem of stress for university students as a vulnerable group. Based on nature related theories, natural environments could have a salutary effect on psychological restoration through stress alleviation. There is a body of research on investigating the impact of open green space characteristics for increasing of psychological restoration through framework of attention restoration theory and supportive environment theory. However, there is little knowledge on how the interaction among these characteristics could promote perceived restoration experience (PRE). To address this problem, using perceived sensory dimension (PSD) for open green space qualities and Perceived Restorativeness (PR) as properties of restorative environments, this study assessed the extent to which the PSD and PR impact on PRE. Using 444 screened data, the mediation effect of PR on the association of PSD to PRE is shown as well as the validity and reliability of proposed relationships. `Serene', `space', `prospect', `rich in species' and `nature' were the most influential PSDs on PRE through their higher effect on perceived characteristics of `fascination' and `compatibility'. These results provide information within landscape architecture and planning to promote the development of open spaces as resources for psychological restoration and stress relief.
