Color output capability and output accuracy of digital printing machine used for simulating the offset printing were analyzed. A digital machine, HpIndigo 1050, was used in this study. The colorimetric values of its primaries, cyan, magenta, yellow and black, were not the same as that primaries used in the offset printing, and the differences between them could not be removed by adjusting the maximal output ink level. The HpIndigo’s color gamut, consequently, could not completely meet the offset print requirement, typically presenting the absence of some colors equal to or close to the offset’s color gamut. So, color management technique was accepted in our experiment, and the offset’s CMYK values were translated into the digital machine’s CMYK values with the relative intent color simulation through these two machine’s profiles. The results showed that the color output accuracy within the offset color gamut was raised on the whole, and the big color differences only happened on these colors outside the digital machine’s gamut. Numerically, for 928 colors in IT8.7/3 chart, the CIELAB average/maximal color differences dropped from 4.98/13.90 to 3.13/13.13 respectively corresponding to the cases before and after color management accepting. Specially, for gray colors, the average/maximal color differences changed from 4.91/5.59 to 0.92/2.00, improving the gray balance dramatically.

A computer monitor through mixing shades of red, green, and blue show pictures, that is named RGB color model. CMYK use the different color reproduction technologies and properties. A CMYK printer instead uses light-absorbing cyan, magenta and yellow ink. This paper discusses the conversion between RGB and CMKY color model. OpenCV was used for the verification of the effectiveness of the algorithm is proved to be feasible.

In order to achieve high-quality colour prints by using an electrophotography printing machine, it is necessary to prepare the printing substrate. Additional treatment may be needed to achieve the better substrate surface tension for optimally attaching the liquid electrophotography ink to the fine art paper. To ensure good adhesion of the ink to the printing substrate, a pre-treatment by application of surface tension regulating fluids (priming) may be used. In this paper, we will determine the possibility of realization of the CMY prints and the possibility of achieving an increased range of tone value in electrophotography digital printing. Based on the results, the new possible values of reproduced CMY tones will be determined so that a higher print quality can be achieved. The application of primers changes the optical properties of the paper printing substrate, which directly affects the colour reproduction. An additional 100 % increase of primer application will result in total colour changes of ΔEC (0,5g/m2 & 1g/m2) = 0,06, ΔEM (0,5g/m2 & 1g/m2) = 0,42, ΔEY (0,5g/m2 & 1g/m2) = 0,08. In this scenario, 1 g/m2 application of primer will produce the most intense full tones and therefore the highest quality prints for all three ElectroInk process colours.

We propose a method for digital printing which is novel and efficient. Digital printing is a technical breakthrough in the field of traditional printing and dyeing industry, which is also an effective solution to solve the three high problem, namely, high energy consumption, high noise, high pollution, in the traditional printing and dyeing industry. However, the widely used methods in printing and dyeing system have some deficiencies, such as the low performance of the PC processor and the limitation of transferring data by parallel interface. The proposed method takes advantage of multi-core processor, DMA and RAID technology. Multi-core processor can speed up the processing of the print command and the print images, while DMA technology can minimize the intervention of the CPU to input/output operations which makes the CPU more effective to process the images. Furthermore, the use of RAID technology can improve the access speed of the hard disk which leading to the efficiency improvement of the entire computer system. As we can see that the combination of those three technologies can greatly improve the efficiency of digital printing machine, thus speeding up the popularity of digital printing.
