Drinking water is a basic need for humans. The provision of drinking water throughout Indonesia is an obligation that has been stated in UUD 45. Based on the Bappenas study with the Ministry of Public Works, universal access to drinking water is targeted to reach 84,8% nationally. Then, this universal access must increase to 92,2% in 2018. In the end, access to drinking water for the community in 2019 is 100%. Based on this description, every region in Indonesia must have universal access to proper drinking water. Manggarai Regency is one of the districts that will alleviate the problem of universal access to drinking water. Existing water sources in Manggarai Regency are in various locations of hills and mountains. This water source is a source of water that can be used as a source of drinking water. Based on the study of SPAM Master Plan, residents of Manggarai Regency who have had access to adequate drinking water are 57.61%. The percentage value is still below the threshold of decent MDGs in 2015 which is 68%. Considering that the target of fulfilling universal access to drinking water in 2019 is 100%, it is necessary to have a major breakthrough in drinking water supply in Manggarai Regency. One way that needs to be done is to evaluate the drinking water needs. Based on the results of a field survey, Manggarai District has the potential of drinking water sources of 150 Lps, water has been utilized by 30 Lps and the services to be developed are 40 Lps. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method. The results of the analysis obtained from the study on the evaluation of drinking water needs are long-term drinking water needs in 8 (eight villages), the capacity of clean water from Wae Decer water spring cannot supply drinking water by 2029. In 2028, the remaining clean water capacity from MA. Wae Decer only has 0.16 liters per second. If Wae Decer SPAM wants to be extended to 2037 according to long-term planning, then in 2018 the required supply capacity is 48,15 liters per second. The difference of 8,15 liters per second can be taken from Wae Decer which still has the remaining idle capacity of 77 liters per second in 2037. This capacity can be used for the development of drinking water reaching other villages that intersect with the DED Wae Decer system and or added from source of springs adjacent to Wae Decer clean water network.

ABSTRACT One of SDG's 2030 targets is that households have access to drinking water. The phenomenon is some of community use bottled water/refill as drinking water. The aim of this article are knowing household proportion with improve clean water source and water collecting time that use bottled water/refill drinking water, and relation of clean water source characteristics with using bottle/refill drinking water. Research design is cross sectional. Dependent variable is household drinking water sources type, independents are household clean water source characteristics, and travel time collecting water. Bivariate data analysis was carried out to analyze the relationship between the proportion of bottled / refilled water users by households with adequate water sources and households that use inappropriate water sources. The results showed that proportion of households with unimproved drinking water sources, unimproved clean water source and unimproved water collecting time are greater using bottled/refill  drinking, each (7,6%) and (26,7%). There are statistic significances relation between household with unimproved drinking water source, unimproved travel time collecting water with using bottled/ relill drinking water (p = 0,000). Also found statistic significances between household with improved drinking water source, unimproved clean water source and unimproved travel time collecting water with using bottled/ relill drinking water (p = 0,000). Keywords: Bottled water, refill drinking water, improved water   ABSTRAK Salah satu target SDG’s 2030 adalah rumah tangga memiliki akses terhadap air minum. Sebagian masyarakat menggunakan air minum kemasan/ isi ulang sebagai air minum. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pengguna air minum kemasan/isi ulang sebagai sumber air utama. Desain penelitian adalah potong lintang. Variabel terikat adalah jenis sumber air minum rumah tangga, sedangkan variabel bebas terdiri dari karakteristik sumber air utama dan waktu yang diperlukan untuk mengambil air. Analisis data secara bivariat dilakukan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara proporsi pengguna air minum kemasan/isi ulang oleh rumah tangga dengan sumber air layak dengan rumah tangga yang menggunakan sumber air tidak  layak.  Hasil menunjukkan bahwa proporsi pengguna air minum kemasan/isi ulang oleh  rumah tangga dengan sumber air minum yang belum layak  lebih tinggi diibandingkan dengan rumah tangga dengan sumber air minum layak, yaitu masing-masing (7,6%) dan (26,7%). Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara rumah tangga dengan sumber air minum belum layak, dengan waktu tempuh pengambilan air belum layak terhadap penggunaan air minum kemasan/ isi ulang (p=0,000).  Pada rumah tangga dengan  sumber air minum layak, sumber air utama belum layak dan waktu pengambilan belum layak juga ditemukan hubungan bermakna secara statistik terhadap penggunaan air minum kemasan/ isi ulang (p=0,000). The quality characteristics of raw water sources in the regional integrated drinking water supply system (SPAM) of Banjarbakula were investigated and found to maintain the supply of drinking water quantity and quality in accordance with drinking water standards. The optimum model for the mixing process of raw water and poly aluminum chloride (PAC) and pump stroke for the input of water sources from rivers to obtain a composition setting that is in accordance with the raw water sources of each region in the region was selected and determined. So the optimum parameter setting model between alum water, raw water and pump stroke for each raw water source is known and is regionally integrated as a result of a comprehensive study. The integration of Taguchi parameter design and response surface can complement each other and become two methods that go hand in hand in the process of optimizing clean water products. Parameter design provides a very practical optimization step, the basis for this formation refers to the factorial fractional experimental design. However, the absence of statistical assumptions that follow the stages of analysis makes this method widely chosen by researchers and practitioners. With the experimental design of the raw water mixing process, turbidity such as 5 lt/sec, 10 lt/sec, 15 lt/sec, 20 lt/sec and 25 lt/sec and % PAC concentration 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 15 ppm, 20 ppm and 25 ppm with a pump installation stroke of 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 % and 25 % were used. In the process of adding PAC, always pay attention and observe the behavior of the attractive force of the floating particles (flock). The particles were then subjected to SEM (scanning electron microscopy) to determine the dimensions of the flock grains deposited

ABSTRACT   Bengkulu Province is the fourth-lowest province in Indonesia for sanitation facilities and drinking water availability. The difference in socioeconomic conditions and very low access to sanitation in Bengkulu Province poses a major challenge to ensuring water and sanitation services for all, so as to attempt to control a large number of infectious diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of sanitation and drinking water between urban and rural areas in Bengkulu Province. Data analyzed were Village Potential data (PODES) in 2018 and the sample were 148 villages. Research results show that sanitation facilities and the availability of clean water in urban areas are better than in rural areas. In rural areas the majority of sewage is unsanitary or without latrines/open defecation, garbage disposal is carried out by dumping it into the pit of natural soil or being burnt, the sewage is still open, the water source is still a dug well as a source of clean water. In conclusion, there are still gaps in terms of access to sanitation in rural areas and urban safe drinking water. An evaluation is needed to increase community access to sanitation in rural areas and drinking water in cities.   Keywords: Saniation, drinking water, urban areas, rural areas     ABSTRAK   Provinsi Bengkulu merupakan salah satu provinsi dengan sarana sanitasi dan ketersediaan air minum ke empat terendah di Indonesia. Perbedaan kondisi sosial ekonomi dan akses sanitasi yang sangat rendah di Provinsi Bengkulu menimbulkan tantangan besar untuk memastikan layanan air dan sanitasi bagi semua, sehingga membantu mengendalikan sejumlah besar penyakit menular. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran sanitasi dan air minum antara wilayah perkotaan dan perdesaan di Provinsi Bengkulu. Data yang dianalisis adalah data Potensi Desa (PODES) tahun 2018 dengan unit analisis desa. Jumlah sampel sebesar 148 desa di daerah perkotaan dan perdesaan di Provinsi Bengkulu. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa sarana sanitasi dan ketersediaan air bersih di wilayah perkotaan lebih baik daripada di wilayah perdesaan.  Di wilayah perdesaan mayoritas pembuangan tinja tidak saniter atau tanpa jamban/buang air besar sembarangan, pembuangan sampah dilakukan sdengan membuang ke dalam lubang tanah atau dibakar, saluran pembuangan air limbah masih terbuka, dan sumber air adalah  sumur gali sebagai sumber air bersih. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam hal akses sanitasi dan air minum antara di perdesaan dan  perkotaan. Perlu adanya evaluasi peningkatan akses masyarakat terhadap sanitasi di pedesaan dan air minum di perkotaan.   Kata kunci: Sanitasi, air minum, perkotaan, pedesaan

The urgency of the problem of mass growth of cyanobacteria is determined. The problem of the «flowering» of water sources of Moscow has been studied. The analysis of long-term and seasonal dynamics of the main biogenic elements (phosphorus and nitrogen) in the initial water of the water source. The efficiency of water purification from cyanobacteria cells was evaluated in the purification stages of technological lines of water processing stations. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to carry out further studies on the content of the products of vital activity of cyanobacteria in the initial and drinking water of the water source.

Drinking water sources derived from groundwater using selfsupply approaches are widely used in Bekasi City because only 26.8% of households are connected to the piped distribution. These self-supplied water systems can be assessed to determine how people choose a better drinking source. Therefore, this study aims to assess the service level attributes of self-supply, including accessibility, availability, and quality. A longitudinal monitoring method by means of a monthly survey to respondents was used to mens perceptions of taste, smell, color, availability, and safety. The results on both household and citywide scale showed boreholes were perceived to deliver a high service level. On the household scale, 93% of boreholes user got ‘high’ score for water service assessment, while dug wells were only 76%. During the 8 months survey, it was shown that 45% of respondents change their main source of drinking water from self-supply to other source for several reasons. Therefore, this study is expected to provide an overview related to the resilience of selfsupply drinking water for a certain period.

Pucang Gading Housing Complex is an area within the Village Batursari, District of Demak with a population of 2018 as many as 44,257 inhabitants. Raw water service system Mranggen Unit is divided into 5 areas of service (service area Mranggen, Batursari I, Batursari II, Batursari III and Kebon) which utilize raw water source of water treatment plant (IPA Waru) and 8 Wells In a total discharge of 120 liter/second. The number of home connections in Pucang Gading area is currently 3,374 house connections, with a total water usage 14.25 liter/second Water discharges from clean water sources in Pucang Gading region are currently not maximally available to supply water to Pucang Gading service area. In this research will know the problems and readiness that exist by looking from the achievement of Medium Term Development Plan of Demak Regency Year 2016-2021. This research uses SWOT analysis method that is internal and external factors. The selection of raw water sources for drinking water should pay attention to aspects of quality, quantity and continuity. Demak Regency has the potential of surface water either river/ reservoir/dam. The problems and challenges of drinking water supply include issues of safe access to water supply, and regulation of groundwater utilization for the community.

Treated wastewater (TW) and roof-collected rain water (RW) that meet the required microbial quality as per Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulation may serve as alternative irrigation water sources to decrease the pressure on the current water scarcity. Alternative water sources may have different water characteristics that influence the survival and transfer of microorganisms to the irrigated produce. Further, these water sources may contain pathogenic bacteria such as Shiga-toxigenic Escherichia coli. To evaluate the risk associated with TW and RW irrigation on the fresh produce safety, the effect of TW and RW irrigation on the transfer of two non-pathogenic E. coli strains as surrogates for E. coli O157:H7 to different lettuce cultivars grown in the field was investigated. Lettuce cultivars “Annapolis,” “Celinet,” and “Coastline” were grown in the field at the Fulton farm (Chambersburg, PA). Approximately 10 days before harvest, lettuce plants were spray-irrigated with groundwater (GW), TW, or RW containing 6 log CFU ml−1 of a mixture of nalidixic acid-resistant E. coli O157:H12 and chloramphenicol-resistant E. coli K12 in fecal slurry as non-pathogenic surrogates for E. coli O157:H7. On 0, 1, 3, 7, and 10 days post-irrigation, four replicate lettuce leaf samples (30 g per sample) from each group were collected and pummeled in 120 ml of buffered peptone water for 2 min, followed by spiral plating on MacConkey agars with antibiotics. Results showed that the recovery of E. coli O157:H12 was significantly greater than the populations of E. coli K12 recovered from the irrigated lettuce regardless of the water sources and the lettuce cultivars. The TW irrigation resulted in the lowest recovery of the E. coli surrogates on the lettuce compared to the populations of these bacteria recovered from the lettuce with RW and GW irrigation on day 0. The difference in leaf characteristics of lettuce cultivars significantly influenced the recovery of these surrogates on lettuce leaves. Populations of E. coli O157:H12 recovered from the RW-irrigated “Annapolis” lettuce were significantly lower than the recovery of this bacterium from the “Celinet” and “Coastline” lettuce (P < 0.05). Overall, the recovery of specific E. coli surrogates from the RW and TW irrigated lettuce was comparable to the lettuce with the GW irrigation, where GW served as a baseline water source. E. coli O157:H12 could be a more suitable surrogate compared to E. coli K12 because it is an environmental watershed isolate. The findings of this study provide critical information in risk assessment evaluation of RW and TW irrigation on lettuce in Mid-Atlantic area.

Water fluoride levels above the World Health Organization’s guideline (1.5 mg/L), common in overexploited aquifers, represent a health hazard. Our objective was to assess the health risks posed by exposure to fluoride in different drinking water sources in a contaminated basin in Mexico. Fluoride was measured in mutual drinking water sources and in the urine of 39 children and women. Risks were estimated through hazard quotient (HQ) by drinking water source. Dental fluorosis was assessed in the children. Mean fluoride water concentrations (mg/L) were: well, 4.2; waterhole, 2.7; bottled, 2.1; rainwater, 0.4. The mean urinary fluoride concentrations (specific gravity adjusted) were 2.1 mg/L and 3.2 mg/L in children and women, respectively. Our multiple linear regression model showed children’s urinary fluoride concentrations increased 0.96 mg/L for every 1 mg/L increase in water fluoride (p < 0.001). Dental fluorosis was diagnosed in 82% of the children, and their HQ according to drinking water source was: well, 1.5; waterhole, 1.1; bottled, 0.8; harvested rainwater, 0.3. The pervasive dental fluorosis indicates a toxic past fluoride exposure; urinary fluoride levels and HQs indicate high exposure and current health risks for most children. Drinking harvested rainwater will likely prevent most of the local fluoride exposure.

Analysis of the 222Rn specific activity in water of three springs situated in Western outskirts of Yekaterinburg, out of the well that is the main drinking water source in the Palkinsky Torfyanning community, as well as the Yekaterinburg tap water has been carried out. Assessment of the radon content fluctuations over the period from January to November, 2013 in water of one of the sources under study has been done.
