C++ language was used for creating web applications at the department of Mapping and Cartography for many years. Plenty of projects started to be very large-scale and complicated to maintain. Consequently, the traditional way of adding functionality to a Web Server which previously has been used (CGI programs) started being usefulness. I was looking for some solutions - particularly open source ones. I have tried many languages (solutions) and finally I chose the Java language and started writing servlets. Using the Java language (servlets) has significantly simplified the development of web applications. As a result, developing cycle was cut down. Because of Java JNI (Java Native Interface) it is still possible to use C++ libraries which we are using. The main goal of this article is to share my practical experiences with rewriting typical CGI web application and creating complex geoinformatic web application.

Humanoid robotics is a complex and highly diverse field. Humanoid robots may have dozens of sensors and actuators that together realize complicated behaviors. Adding to the complexity is that each type of humanoid has unique application program interfaces, thus software written for one humanoid does not easily transport to others. This article introduces the transportable open-source application program interface and user interface for generic humanoids, a set of application program interfaces that simplifies the programming and operation of diverse humanoid robots. These application program interfaces allow for quick implementation of complex tasks and high-level controllers. Transportable open-source application program interface and user interface for generic humanoids has been developed for, and tested on, Boston Dynamics’ Atlas V5 and NASA’s Valkyrie R5 robots. It has proved successful for experiments on both robots in simulation and hardware, demonstrating the seamless integration of manipulation, perception, and task planning. To encourage the rapid adoption of transportable open-source application program interface and user interface for generic humanoids for education and research, the software is available as Docker images, which enable quick setup of multiuser simulation environments.

With the rapid development of Web2.0 and its related technologies, Mashup services (i.e., Web applications created by combining two or more Web APIs) are becoming a hot research topic. The explosion of Mashup services, especially the functionally similar or equivalent services, however, make services discovery more difficult than ever. In this paper, we present an approach to recommend Mashup services to users based on usage history and service network. This approach firstly extracts users' interests from their Mashup service usage history and builds a service network based on social relationships information among Mashup services, Web application programming interfaces (APIs) and their tags. The approach then leverages the target user's interest and the service social relationship to perform Mashup service recommendation. Large-scale experiments based on a real-world Mashup service dataset show that the authors' proposed approach can effectively recommend Mashup services to users with excellent performance. Moreover, a Mashup service recommendation prototype system is developed.

Web-based systems and applications now deliver a complex array of functionality to a large number of diverse groups of users. As our dependence and reliance on the Web has increased dramatically over the years, their performance, reliability and quality have become paramount importance. As a result, the development of Web applications has become more complex and challenging than most of us think. In many ways, it is also different and more complex than traditional software development. But, currently, the development and maintenance of most Web applications is chaotic and far from satisfactory. To successfully build and maintain large, complex Web-based systems and applications, Web developers need to adopt a disciplined development process and a sound methodology. The emerging discipline of Web engineering advocates a holistic, disciplined approach to successful Web development. In this chapter, we articulate and raise awareness of the issues and considerations in large, complex Web application development, and introduce Web engineering as a way of managing complexity and diversity of large-scale Web development.

Web Applications security has turned out to be logically more essential nowadays. Tremendous quantities of assaults are being sent on the web application layer. Because of emotional increment in Web applications, security gets helpless against assortment of dangers. The ma-jority of these assaults are focused towards the web application layer and system firewall alone can't keep these sorts of assaults. The essen-tial explanation for achievement of these assaults is the numbness of utilization designers while composing the web applications and the vulnerabilities in the current advancements. Web application assaults are the most recent pattern and programmers are attempting to abuse the web application utilizing diverse strategies. Different arrangements are accessible as open source and in business showcase. Be that as it may, the choice of appropriate answer for the security of the authoritative frameworks is a noteworthy issue. This overview paper looked at the Web Application Firewall (WAF) arrangements with critical highlights essential for the security at application layer. Basic examination on WAF arrangements is useful for the clients to choose the most appropriate answer for their surroundings.
