Envelope analysis allows fast fault location of individual gearboxes and parts of bearings by repetition frequency determination of the mechanical catch of an amplitude-modulated signal. Systematic faults arise when using envelope analysis on a signal with strong changes. The source of these events is the range of function definition of used in convolution integral definition. This integral is used for Hilbert image calculation of analyzed signal. Overshoots (almost similar to Gibbs events on a synthetic signal using the Fourier series) are result from these faults. Overshoots are caused by parasitic spectral lines in the frequency domain, which can produce faulty diagnostic analysis. This paper describes systematic arising during faults rising by signal numerical calculation using envelope analysis with Hilbert transform. It goes on to offer a mathematical analysis of these systematic faults.

A method of increasing the reliability of determining the zone of short-circuit at the current step protection of the lines of 6–35 kV with unilateral power, aimed at improvement of their technical perfection, is presented in the paper. Having taken the relative simpleness of the current protection into account the authors consider the unilateral remote method of accounting the parameters of the emergency mode and the type of fault to be the most suitable for the implementation of the algorithm of its functioning as compared with the existing methods of fault location. The major factors affecting the accuracy of determining the short circuit zone based on the remote method are noted. With the use of the method of computational experiment the influence of the load currents and contact resistances of various levels on the magnitude and character of changes of errors of determination of the calculated distance of the point of fault from the protection installation location taking into account the errors of measuring transformers. It is demonstrated that in many cases of arc short circuit in a loaded line in order to define the zone of short-circuit with fair accuracy correction of the estimated distance to the fault as calculated by the parameters of the damaged loop (loops) is required. According to the results of numerical experiments corrective expressions on the basis of two relative asymmetry currents determined by the current values of the differences of the phase currents of the line for detecting a type of a short circuit have been obtained. The assessment of the efficiency of the proposed method has been performed. It is shown that the application of the proposed correction method makes it possible to increase the accuracy of fault zone detection. The dynamic properties of the proposed method applied to different modes of the line functioning have been studied. It is determined that in the worst case the definition of the fault zone for a maximum duration of 26 μsec is provided.

The concept of failed state came to the fore with the end of the Cold War, the collapse of the USSR and the disintegration of Yugoslavia. Political violence is central in these discussions on the definition of the concept or the determination of its dimensions (indicators). Specifically, the level of political violence, the type of political violence and intensity of political violence has been broached in the literature. An effective classification of political violence can lead us to a better understanding of state failure phenomenon. By using Tilly’s classification of collective violence which is based on extent of coordination among violent actors and salience of short-run damage, the role played by political violence in state failure can be understood clearly. In order to do this, two recent cases, Iraq and Syria will be examined.

The paper purpose is the effectiveness estimation in the technological equipment use, taking into account its reliability and productivity for defective transmission units of buses. The problem consists in the determination of time to be spent on repair of bus transmission units taking into account technological equipment reliability. In the paper there is used a probabilistic method for the prediction bus transmission units, and also a method of the dynamics of averages which allow ensuring minimum of costs for units downtime during repair and equipment cost. The need for repair of transmission units (gear box) arises on an average after 650 hours, the average productivity of the bench makes 4.2 bus / hour. The bench fails on the average after 4600 hours of work, the average time of the bench makes 2 hours. In such a way the solution of the problem specified allows analyzing the necessity of time decrease for transmission unit repair to avoid long downtimes of buses in repair areas without negative impact upon high repair quality and safety during the further operation.

The article summarizes the main approaches in the definition of business valuation the economic entity. In the process of business valuation, taking into account the risks of financial and economic activities necessary to obtain information on what stage the owner implements the business will receive income. The most difficult task is the impossibility of accurate prediction in determining the level of income and the determination of a discount rate capitalization of future incomes due to the instability of the economy, both in the country and around the world.

We have estimated the degree of polarizability of a polarized oil-water interface used as a working interface and that of the nonpolarizability of a nonpolarized interface used as a reference oil-water interface from the numerical calculation of dc and ac current vs potential behavior at both interfaces. Theoretical equations of dc and ac currents for simultaneous cation and anion transfer of supporting electrolytes have been derived for the planar stationary interface for reversible and quasi-reversible cases. In the derivation, the migration effect and the coupling of the cation and anion transfer have been incorporated. The transfer of ions constituting a supporting electrolyte contributes to the total admittance of the interface even in the region where the interface may be considered as polarized in dc sense, as pointed out first by Samec et al. (J. Electroanal. Chem. 126, 121 (1981)). Moreover, the reference oil-water interface is not ideally reversible, so that the contribution from this interface to the measured admittance cannot be negligible, unless the area of the reference oil-water interface is much larger than that of the working oil-water interface. The effect of non-ideality of the reference oil-water interface on the determination of double layer capacitances and kinetic parameters of charge transfer at the working oil-water interface has been estimated.

AbstractWe consider the problem of describing the traces of functions in $$H^2(\Omega )$$ H 2 ( Ω ) on the boundary of a Lipschitz domain $$\Omega $$ Ω of $$\mathbb R^N$$ R N , $$N\ge 2$$ N ≥ 2 . We provide a definition of those spaces, in particular of $$H^{\frac{3}{2}}(\partial \Omega )$$ H 3 2 ( ∂ Ω ) , by means of Fourier series associated with the eigenfunctions of new multi-parameter biharmonic Steklov problems which we introduce with this specific purpose. These definitions coincide with the classical ones when the domain is smooth. Our spaces allow to represent in series the solutions to the biharmonic Dirichlet problem. Moreover, a few spectral properties of the multi-parameter biharmonic Steklov problems are considered, as well as explicit examples. Our approach is similar to that developed by G. Auchmuty for the space $$H^1(\Omega )$$ H 1 ( Ω ) , based on the classical second order Steklov problem.

The present paper revisits the determination of the semi-classical limit of the Feshbach resonances which play a role in electron impact broadening (the so-called “Stark“ broadening) of isolated spectral lines of ionized atoms. The Gailitis approximation will be used. A few examples of results will be provided, showing the importance of the role of the Feshbach resonances.

AbstractBetweenness centrality quantifies the importance of a vertex for the information flow in a network. The standard betweenness centrality applies to static single-layer networks, but many real world networks are both dynamic and made of several layers. We propose a definition of betweenness centrality for temporal multiplexes. This definition accounts for the topological and temporal structure and for the duration of paths in the determination of the shortest paths. We propose an algorithm to compute the new metric using a mapping to a static graph. We apply the metric to a dataset of $$\sim 20$$ ∼ 20 k European flights and compare the results with those obtained with static or single-layer metrics. The differences in the airports rankings highlight the importance of considering the temporal multiplex structure and an appropriate distance metric.
