A dual-band microwave metamaterial absorber with single-peak regulation and wide-angle absorption has been proposed and illustrated. The designed metamaterial absorber is consisted of hollow-cross resonators, solid-cross resonators, dielectric substrate and metallic background plane. Strong absorption peak coefficients of 99.92% and 99.55% are achieved at 8.42 and 11.31 GHz, respectively, which is basically consistent with the experimental results. Surface current density and changing material properties are employed to illustrate the absorptive mechanism. More importantly, the proposed dual-band metamaterial absorber has the adjustable property of single absorption peak and could operate well at wide incidence angles for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) waves. Research results could provide and enrich instructive guidances for realizing a single-peak-regulation and wide-angle dual-band metamaterial absorber.

Flash vacuum pyrolysis (FVP) of 5-azido-1-aryltetrazoles results in triple N2 elimination and formation of aryl isocyanides RNC, which rearrange in part to aroylnitriles RCN under the reaction conditions. Similar FVP of 5-azido-1-arenesulfonyltetrazoles generates a compound absorbing in the IR spectrum (77 K) at 2090 cm-1 and assigned the structure of arenesulfonyl isocyanide, ArSO2NC <b>11</b>. FVP at temperatures above 600 oC results in progressively more nitrile ArSO2CN <b>12</b>. Compound <b>11</b> also disappears on warming above -80 oC

Reaction of dibenzo[b,e]thiepin-11(6H)-one with 2-(dimethylaminomethyl)cyclohexylmagnesium chloride gave a mixture of stereoisomeric amino alcohols IX from which four homogeneous bases (IXa to IXd) were separated by chromatography. Dehydration of these compounds with boiling dilute hydrochloric acid afforded mixtures of racemic geometric isomers of the title compound VII, which were separated by crystallization. To the prevailing less polar base VIIa (E)-configuration was assigned on the basis of the IR spectrum. Using a similar procedure, thieno[2,3-c]-2-benzothiepin-4(9H)-one gave mixture of amino alcohols X from which three homogeneous stereoisomers X-A to X-C were isolated. Their dehydration resulted in both expected racemic geometric isomers VIII-A and VIII-B. Pharmacological testing proved the character of an antidepressant for the semi-rigid analogue of dithiadene VIII.
