Recently a number of experiments have been carried out on a STEM which included a multipole corrector for primary spherical aberration. The results of these experiments indicate that the correction of primary spherical aberration with magnetic multipoles is beset with very serious difficulties related to hysteresis.The STEM and corrector have been described previously. In theory, the corrector should cancel primary spherical aberration so that other aberrations limit the resolution. For this instrument, secondary spherical aberration should limit the resolution to 1 A at 50 kV. A thorough study of misalignment aberrations was made. The result of the study indicates that the octopoles must be aligned to 1000 A. Since mechanical alignment cannot be done to this accuracy, trim coils were built into the corrector in order to achieve the required alignment electrically. The trim coils are arranged to excite all the lower order moments of an element.

This is an empirical examination of Experienced Stimulation (es) and Experience Actual (EA) from Exner's Comprehensive System (CS) for Rorschach's Test, spurred by Kleiger's theoretical critique. Principal components analysis, Cronbach's α, and inter-item correlational analyses were used to test whether 13 determinants used to code Rorschach responses (M, FM, m, CF+C, YF+Y, C'F+C', TF+T, VF+V, FC, FC', FV, FY, FT) are best represented as a one, two, or more-dimensional construct. The 13 determinants appear to reflect three dimensions, a “lower order” sensori-motor dimension (m + CF+C + YF+Y + C'F+C' + TF+T + VF+V) with a suggested label of Modified Experienced Stimulation (MES), a “higher order” sensori-motor dimension (FM + FV + FY + FT) with a suggested label of Modified Experience Potential (MEP), and a third sensori-motor dimension (M+FC+FC') for which the label of Modified Experience Actual (MEA) is suggested. These findings are consistent with Kleiger's arguments and could lead to a refinement of CS constructs by aggregating determinants along lines more theoretically congruous and more internally consistent. A RAMONA model with parameters specified was presented for replication attempts which use confirmatory factor analytic techniques.

This study is aimed at (1) analyzing reading exercises based Bloom’s taxonomy for VIII grade in English on Sky textbook. (2) Found the distribution of the lower and higher order thinking skill in reading exercises. (3) To reason for level reading exercises. After analyzed the data, the result of the data analysis also infers that the six levels of Bloom’s taxonomy in reading exercises weren’t applied totally. The creating skill doesn’t have distribution in reading exercise, and the understanding – remembering level more dominant than another levels. The distribution of the higher order thinking level was lower than the lower order thinking level and the six levels are not appropriate with the proportion for each level of education based Bloom’s taxonomy, such as the distribution of the creating level in the reading exercise must be a concern because no question that belong to the creating level. It was concluded that reading exercises in English on Sky textbook cannot improve students' critical thinking skills for VIII grade.

Strawberry Cultivar Performance and Susceptibility to Tarnished Plant Bug Injury

Twelve strawberry cultivars established in matted row plots in 1993 were treated with insecticides for tarnished plant bug or left untreated for the 1994, 1995, and 1996 seasons. `Honeoye', `Cavendish', and `Oka' had the highest yields of marketable fruit. `Jewel', `Chambly', and `Kent' had lower, but acceptable, yields. `Lateglow', `Blomidon', `Seneca, NY1424', `Settler', and `Governor Simcoe' had lower yields than other varieties. Tarnished plant bug populations were very low during the 1994 and 1996 seasons, and thus feeding pressure may have been too low for any differences in susceptibility between varieties to be expressed. In 1995, when tarnished plant bug feeding pressure was greatest, `Oka', `Cavendish', and `Honeoye' had the lowest injury levels. `Kent' and `Lateglow' had the highest levels of injury. Insecticide sprays significantly reduced the percent of injured fruit for most cultivars, but did not significantly increase the weight of marketable fruit harvested. This is due to injury being most prevalent on lower order, and thus smaller, fruit. Cultivars that produced high yields, had low injury levels, and had the least difference between sprayed and unsprayed treatments are most likely to have resistance to tarnished plant bug injury. `Oka', `Cavendish', and `Honeoye' were the most promising cultivars in this regard.
