The monograph examines the radical change that occurred in British science and technology policy in the course of Lady Margaret Thatchers’ tenure in the Downing-street. Drawing on previously unpublished documents and materials covering wide range of areas of scientific research – from HIV-infection to nuclear energy and strategic defense – the author expands in great detail the contradictory process of forming the scientific agenda of the radical wing of the Conservative Party while tracing the influence of neoconservative value paradigm on the image and realities of British science all the way to the present.
