<p>Protecting molecular structures from disclosure against external parties is of great relevance for industrial and private associations, such as pharmaceutical companies. Within the framework of external collaborations, it is common to exchange datasets by encoding the molecular structures into descriptors. Molecular fingerprints such as the extended-connectivity fingerprints are frequently used for such an exchange, because they typically perform well on quantitative structure-activity relationship tasks. </p><p>ECFPs are often considered to be non-invertible due to the way they are computed.</p><p>In this paper, we present a reverse-engineering method to deduce the molecular structure given revealed ECFPs. Our method includes the <i>Neuraldecipher</i>, a neural network model that predicts a compact vector representation of compounds, given ECFPs. We then utilize another pre-trained model to retrieve the molecular structure as SMILES representation. We demonstrate that our method is able to reconstruct molecular structures to some extent, and improves, when ECFPs with larger fingerprint sizes are revealed. For example, given ECFP count vectors of length 4096, we are able to correctly deduce around 60% of molecular structures on a validation set (112K unique samples) with our method.</p>

The papyrological evidence from early Roman Egypt shows that there was a close relationship between private associations and village life. Associations were very much intertwined and influenced each other. They belonged to the most important local institutions for socio-economic and cultural life at village level and played an important role for the construction of feelings of community. In an environment void of civic designations, associations could also provide the frame for the assertion of specific identities, just like membership in the priestly groups or the army, as well as facilitate relations with the state in areas such as taxation or compulsory services.

In Europe, there are many different ways in which early childhood education and care professionals are trained. This article investigates how these different forms came into being. Comparing two small, prosperous European countries, Sweden and Switzerland, we analyse the developments in training regimes for early childhood professionals since the 19th century using a historical institutionalism approach. We focus on corporate actors and the institutionalization of educational structures and identify critical junctures and path dependencies. Although both countries developed a comparable diversity of training opportunities in the 19th century and early 20th century, developments since the 1950s have diverged widely. While Sweden is developing a uniform, fully academicized training structure, the Swiss case exhibits no such uniformity but is characterized by continuity and incremental change. The article traces the role played by central governments, private associations and educational reform in the development of the training of preschool personnel.
