From Energy to Information: Representation in Science and Technology, Art, and Literature (review)

Spirit of science is one of the important components of science education theory. It not only directly affects the level of science education, but also indirectly affects the selection, education and evaluation of scientific researchers, and the development of science and technology in a country or region. Although more than a century ago, the researchers began to discuss the topic of spirit of science. However, to date, the research of the definition, attribute, structural model and its characteristics of the spirit of science has not yet made a breakthrough. Based on the detailed literature review, the related theoretical analysis and the research of the structural model of the spirit of science, this paper puts forward the new definition, the attribute and the establishment of the structural model of the spirit of science, and analyzes the match the situation from new structural model of the spirit of science and the scientific nature published by the American Society for the Advancement of Science. The results of this study are of great significance for raising the level of scientific education and cultivating future scientific researchers, enhancing their motivation and skills in innovation in scientific research and promoting the development of future scientific undertakings.

ABSTRAK Estetika merujuk kepada cabang ilmu yang membahaskan perihal keindahan dalam karya sastera. Unsur estetika memainkan peranan penting dalam penghasilan sesebuah karya kreatif, iaitu dijadikan sebagai medium bahasa dalam menyampaikan mesej yang jelas kepada pembaca. Kajian yang dilakukan ini berdasarkan pengamatan pengkaji tentang pendapat sarjana sastera yang mendakwa novel-novel fiksyen sains yang terhasil daripada Sayembara Fiksyen Sains dan Teknologi tidak memaparkan unsur keindahan bahasa kepada pembaca. Sehubungan dengan itu, untuk merungkai permasalahan ini pengkaji menggunakan lima buah novel pemenang Sayembara Fiksyen Sains dan Teknologi iaitu Bekamorfosis (2012) karya Jali Kenoi, Petaka Bakteria (2012) karya Mohd Kasim Mahmud, Puranakila (2015) karya Saadiah Ibrahim, Ajal (2015) karya Ruhaini Matdarin dan Yang Diselindung Samudera (2017) karya Nor Azida Ishak, Fadli al-Akiti dan Ted Mahsun. Kajian yang dilakukan ini juga mempunyai dua objektif kajian iaitu mengklasifikasi dan menganalisis unsur estetika bahasa iaitu penggunaan gaya bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel-novel kajian. Oleh itu, kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kajian kepustakaan, analisis teks dan penerapan Teori Puitika Sastera Melayu yang diasaskan oleh Muhammad Haji Salleh sebagai sokongan terhadap hujahan pengkaji. Hasil kajian yang dilakukan terhadap novel-novel fiksyen sains tersebut pengkaji mendapati dua jenis gaya bahasa yang diketengahkan oleh pengarang iaitu gaya bahasa perbandingan dan gaya bahasa pengulangan. Gaya bahasa tersebut juga dapat dikaitkan dengan konsep estetika dalam Teori Puitika Sastera Melayu iaitu keindahan dalam mendidik atau mengajar, keindahan dalam pengungkapan kesusahan dan kesedihan serta keindahan dalam rasa seperti yang dinyatakan oleh Muhammad Haji Salleh. ABSTRACT Aesthetics refers to the branch of knowledge that debates the subject of beauty in literary works. The aesthetic element plays an important role in the production of a creative work, which serves as a language medium in delivering clear messages to the reader. This study is based on the study of literary scholars who claim that science fiction novels from the Science and Technology Fiction Contest do not present the languageâ€™s beauty element to readers. To this end, the researcher used the five novels of Science and Technology Fiction Contest winners namely Bekamorfosis (2012) by Jali Kenoi, Petaka Bakteria (2012) by Mohd Kasim Mahmud, Puranakila (2015) by Saadiah Ibrahim, Ajal (2015) by Ruhaini Matdarin and Yang Diselindung Samudera (2017) by Nor Azida Ishak, Ted Mahsun and Fadli Al-Akiti. The study also has two objectives of the study which is to classify and analyze the aesthetics of language which is the use of language style found in the research novels. Therefore, this study uses the method of literature review, analysis and application of the theory of poetic text Malay literature founded by Muhammad Haji Salleh in support of the submissions from researchers. As a result of the study of science fiction novels, researchers have identified two types of language styles that the author promotes: comparative language style and repetition language style. The style of these languages can also be associated with the aesthetic concept in the theory of poetic beauty of Malay literature in educating or teaching, discovery of beauty in distress and sadness and beauty in the sense as described by Muhammad Haji Salleh.

Community involvement in science and technology are rapidly developing was not matched by the religious and cultural awareness. The method in this study is a literature review that discusses the idea of Scientific Literacy based on Islamic and Indonesian Cultural values (SLIC). This article discusses (1) How to model scientific literacy based on Islamic values and culture Indonesia? (2) How can Science Literacy contribute to the awareness of religion (Islam) and Indonesian culture? And (3) What is the related issue of scientific literacy, Islamic values, and Indonesian Cultural values? Of the studies that have done, the model LSIB initiated by using an integrated approach interdisciplinary with KNOW / BE / DO Bridge as the concept of a link between science literacy, Islamic values, and the values of culture which in practice can transfer through education (learning experience) that oriented values.Keterlibatan masyarakat dalam ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang berkembang dengan pesat, ternyata tidak diimbangi dengan kesadaran dalam beragama dan berbudaya. Metode pada kajian ini adalah kajian literatur yang membahas gagasan tentang Literasi Sains Berbasis Nilai Islam dan Budaya Indonesia (LSIB). Artikel ini mendiskusikan tentang (1) Bagaimana model literasi sains berbasis nilai-nilai Islam dan Budaya Indonesia? (2) Bagaimana Literasi Sains dapat berkontribusi terhadap kesadaran beragama (Islam) dan berbudaya Indonesia?; dan (3) Adakah isu terkait tentang literasi sains, Nilai-nilai Islam, dan Budaya Indonesia? AgroParisTech professors and librarians in Food Science and Technology have developed information literacy instruction to help students find and use relevant information. The course trains students to develop information literacy competencies: to identify the information needed and define its nature and extent; to access the information with efficiency because they select and use methods, resources and retrieval systems most appropriate to the topic; to evaluate the used methods, information, and sources; to search, access and use information ethically and legally; to read, use and write bibliographic references.AgroParisTech trains two kinds of students. For Higher Education students (engineering students), the training takes place at their arrival in AgroParisTech, including courses and practical classes: role and management of information in organizations; information on plagiarism; resources in environment, food science and technology; use of relevant tools and methods for searching in databases; reference writing.For students attending a Master of Science, the training prepares them to produce a literature review. The curriculum includes: information about scientific integrity, plagiarism; information needed for a researcher; critical reading of a journal article; how to manage a literature review: resources used, information search with databases, full text access; reference writing.The students will use these information literacy skills along their studies as well as in their future jobs.

The presence of Islamic education is expected to be an alternative solution to educational problems caused by the materialism education system. This present study aims at investigating education from an Islamic perspective and its role in fostering Islamic personality. This study employed a qualitative approach and literature review method. Based on the results of the discussion, there has been no agreed term on education based on Islamic perspective. However, in this case, the writer is more inclined to ta'dÄb as the term for education in Islam since it, based on its conceptual structure, has included the elements of science (ilm), teaching (ta'lÄ«m), and good care (tarbiyaÄ§). The purposes of Islamic education are to develop an Islamic personality and to master Islamic safaqah, science and technology, and adequate expertise. In Islam, teachers are regarded as a highly honored person, and students are encouraged to maintain good character and conduct (adab) when they interact with their teachers. In addition, Islamic curriculum and education materials are supposed to be in line with the Islamic Aqeedah (faith). In principle, Islamic education methods have their own characteristics and one of them is the Quranic education method. All media and facilities are permissible as long as it does not conflict with the Islamic Aqeedah (faith). The evaluation in Islamic education consists of measurements and assessments covering the aspects of aqliyah, qolbiyah, and amÄliyah. Islamic education plays an important role in fostering Islamic personality since it is inseparable from the idea of Islamic education in order to foster an Islamic personality.
