Child abuse by parents is common in households. The impact of violence on children will bring short-term effects and long-term effects that can be attributed to their various emotional, behavioral and social problems in the future; especially in late adolescence that will enter adulthood. Resilience factors increase the likelihood that adolescents who are victims of childhood violence recover from their past experiences, become more powerful individuals and have a better life. The purpose of this study was to determine the source of resilience in late adolescents who experienced violence from parents in their childhood. This research uses qualitative research methods with in-depth interviews as a method of data collection. The result shows that the three research participants have the aspects of "I Have", "I Am", and "I Can"; a participant has "I Can" aspects as a source of resilience, and one other subject has no source of resilience. The study concluded that parental affection and acceptance of the past experience have role to the three sources of resilience (I Have, I Am, and I Can)

Keyword : Resilience, adolescence, violence, parents

Abstract Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) affects a significant number of women worldwide. Internationally, people with endometriosis report significant negative impact across many areas of their life. We aimed to use an online survey using the EndoCost tool to determine if there was any difference in the impact of CPP in those with vs. those without a confirmed diagnosis of endometriosis, and if there was any change in diagnostic delay since the introduction of clinical guidelines in 2005. 409 responses were received; 340 with a diagnosis of endometriosis and 69 with no diagnosis. People with CPP, regardless of diagnosis, reported moderate to severe dysmenorrhea and non-cyclical pelvic pain. Dyspareunia was also common. Significant negative impact was reported for social, academic, and sexual/romantic relationships in both cohorts. In the endometriosis cohort there was a mean diagnostic delay of eight years, however there was a reduction in both the diagnostic delay (p < 0.001) and number of doctors seen before diagnosis (p < 0.001) in those presenting more recently. Both endometriosis and CPP have significant negative impact. Whilst there is a decrease in the time to diagnosis, there is an urgent need for improved treatment options and support for women with the disease once the diagnosis is made.

Due to the severe course of COVID-19, the rate of transmission, and the high risk of death, country governments have taken many measures, such as social isolation, to reduce the rate of transmission. This study, it is aimed to reveal the effect of the social isolation process caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on the romantic relationships of individuals. In this correlational study, 540 people (n=433 females, n=107 males) who had a romantic relationship in Turkey were reached by random sampling method. The participants were given the Sociodemographic Information Form and the Anxiety in Romantic Relationships During the Covid-19 Pandemic Period. Validity and reliability analyzes of the scale were made. Romantic relationships of the Covid-19 pandemic process have been determined that it affects women more than men, those with low education levels more than those with higher levels, and those with short relationships than those with long-term relationships. At the same time, it was concluded that those who live separately are more affected than those who live together, those who avoid sexuality are more affected than those who do not, and those who apply social distance rules at home are more affected than those who do not apply social distance rules at home. The research has some limitations. The scale was applied online to 540 people and reached a limited number of people. The results need to be supported by different studies.

This paper examines the impact of mental health on romantic relationships using a symbolic interactionist approach. Specifically, this paper will focus on the dimensions of anxiety/attachment, depression, and mastery/self-esteem and how they impact romantic relationships. The impact of these dimensions is not always negative; some of the aspects can have a positive impact on relationships.

Emotions and conflicts in adult close relationships: A systematic review of the impact of adult attachment on conflict behavior. How do we deal with negative emotions, and how do they affect conflicts in close relationships? Attachment theory is a suitable framework to describe and understand how adults handle emotions and conflicts in their relationships. This article is based on a systematic literature search identifying recent research, i.e., published from 2000 till 2015, which examines attachment pattern with the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI), and the way couples manage conflicts in their romantic relationships. The review shows that in nine out of ten studies the attachment pattern guides the couples’ behaviour during conflicts in romantic relationships. Insecurely attached couples showed more negative behaviour, such as criticism and rejection, whereas securely attached couples showed a more positive behaviour, such as empathy and openness. Likewise, insecurely attached couples showed less effective caregiving behaviour, whereas securely attached couples responded sensitively and accurately to the needs of their partners. Bearing in mind the small number of included studies, it is seen that there is a tendency for the attachment pattern in adults in their thirties to guide their behavior during conflicts in their relationships. Attachment theory and empirical research on conflict behavior give health professionals insight into emotional processes, and can help answer why some couples become trapped in inappropriate strategies during conflicts. Though there is a noticeable trend, there is a need for further research, due to the small number of studies.

The aim of this research is to examine the impact of vigilant, devoted, and self-sacrificing personality styles on intimacy (engagement, communication, shared friends) among young adults in romantic relationships (dating/married). A total of 1000 respondents aged 20-40 years old completed questionnaires on personality styles (Personality Self-Portrait) and intimacy (Personal Assessment of Intimacy in Relationships). Data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) shows a significant impact of self-sacrificing personality styles on engagement (γ = -0,511, p < 0,01) and communication (γ = -0,361, p < 0,01). There are also significant influences of vigilant (γ = -0,225, p < 0,05) and devoted personality styles (γ = 0,132, p < 0,05) to shared friends. The impact of self-sacrificing personality styles indicates the importance of both parties’ involvement in influencing their relationship. Besides, being too sensitive (vigilant personality styles’ characteristic) and having a sense of comfort in relationships with others (devoted personality styles’ characteristic) could influence how individuals engage in social relationships outside their romantic relationships. Key words: Intimacy, personality styles, romantic relationshipsAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat pengaruh ciri kepribadian vigilant, devoted, dan self-sacrificing, terhadap intimacy (engagement, communication, shared friends) pada dewasa muda yang sedang menjalin hubungan romantis (berpacaran/menikah). Sebanyak 1000 responden berusia 20-40 tahun mengisi alat ukur ciri kepribadian (Personality Self-Portrait) dan intimacy (Personal Assessment of Intimacy in Relationships).

Korean drama is a media broadcast, which provides interactive parasocial experience to its enthusiasts, who actively seek out and involve themselves in it. The interactive parasocial process is divided into cognitive, affective, and behavioral sub-processes, producing “imagined interaction”. These shows have both positive and negative impacts upon their devotees; however, the way in which the parasocial interaction for the devotees of Korean dramas comes about is not yet well understood. A picture of this parasocial interaction for four young adult female devotees was obtained through interviews and journal entries. The participants used characters in Korean dramas as role models, and as parts of a learning process in their life transitions. They also used them as facilities for having social contacts, lessons about romantic relationships, and future career perspectives. Thematic analysis of this parasocial interaction produced a number of themes, these being the function of Korean dramas in the lives of devotees, “binge watching” as a recurrent parasocial interaction, and imaginings as romantic experiences. This research revealed that the cognitive sub-processes had a large part to play in the progress of parasocial interaction. It is recommended that further research be conducted into the impact of Korean dramas, as media products, upon Indonesian society.
