This paper is a report of a study conducted on Structural, thermal and optical Properties of pure PMMA, pure PEO and PMMA-PEO-LiClO4 polymer blend electrolyte thin films. These films were prepared using solution casting technique and characterized by X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). XRD analysis Observations confirmed that amorphous, crystalline and semi crystalline nature of pure PMMA, pure PEO and PMMA-PEO-LiClO4 polymer blend electrolyte thin films the SEM micrographs suggest that the surface morphology of pure PEO changes from smooth to rough when PMMA and LiClO4 added to PEO polymer, which shows the interaction/ interface between the two polymers and polymer blend electrolyte due to cross – linking. Glass transition (Tg) and melting temperatures (Tm) of pure PMMA, pure PEO and PMMA-PEO-LiClO4 polymer blend electrolyte thin films were confirmed by DSC analysis. FTIR spectra confirmed that complex formation and interaction among PMMA, PEO polymers and LiClO4 salt.

In this work, polymer blend films based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were prepared by solution casting technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was performed to investigate the structural details of the polymer blend. XRD pattern confirms the polycrystalline nature of the films. Sandwich structures of the type Ag-PVA/PEG-Ag were formed to study the dielectric and conduction properties in the frequency range 300 Hz–3 MHz and at different temperatures varying from 298 K to 420 K. Experimental results show that both dielectric constant ( ε′) and dielectric loss ( ε″) values were strong functions of frequency and temperature. The AC conductivity ( σAC) was found to obey the power law Aωs and correlated barrier hopping as the conduction mechanism. The imaginary part of electric modulus shows peak shifting corresponding to relaxation mechanisms. Electric modulus study was also found to support the dielectric permittivity data.

"In this paper, we report upon preparation and optical properties of the polymer blend (50%PMMA:25%PVC:25%PS) thin films. The thin films have been prepared with specific ratios using the casting technique at normal weather conditions. The films were subjected to heat treatment in varying temperatures for three hours. The results showed that increase thermal annealing temperature leads to decrease values of the direct and indirect energy gap, but increase the extinction coefficient and optical conductivity. The refractive index, real and imaginary dielectric constants showed a heterogeneous behaviour. Thermal annealing by 80 oC and up leads to deformation the thin films.

: Thin films of PbS were prepared onto glass substrates by using a simple and cost effective CBD method. Influence of deposition time on structural, morphology and optical properties have been investigated systematically. The XRD analysis revealed that PbS films are polycrystalline with preferred orientation in (200) direction. Enhancement in crystallinity and PbS crystallite size has been observed with increase in deposition time. Formation of single phase PbS thin films has been further confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. The surface morphology analysis revealed the formation of prismatic and pebble-like PbS particles and with increase in deposition time these PbS particles are separated from each other without secondary growth. The data obtained from the EDX spectra shows the formation of high-quality but slightly sulfur rich PbS thin films over the entire range of deposition time studied. All films show increase in absorption with increase in deposition time and a strong absorption in the visible and sub-band gap regime of NIR range of the spectrum with red shift in band edge. The optical band gap shows decreasing trend, as deposition time increases but it is higher than the band gap of bulk PbS.

The effect of plasticizer on dielectric properties of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/titanium dioxide (TiO2) composites was investigated. Propylene carbonate (PC) was used as plasticizer in the samples which were prepared with the conventional solvent casting technique. Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (SEM-EDX) and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses and LCR Meter measurements (performed between 300 K and 400 K), were conducted to examine the properties of the composites. With the addition of plasticizer, the thermal properties have changed and the dielectric constant of the composite has increased significantly. The glass transition temperature of pure PMMA measured 121.7°C and this value did not change significantly with the addition of TiO2, however, 112°C was measured in the sample with the addition 4 ml of PC. While the dielectric constant of pure PMMA was 3.64, the ε′ value increased to 5.66 with the addition of TiO2 and reached 12.6 with the addition of 4 ml PC. These changes have been attributed to increase in amorphous ratio that facilitates polymer dipolar and segmental mobility.

Particles of calcium phosphate were precipitated by raising the temperature and the pH of simulated body fluid (SBF) named Apatite Nuclei (AN). AN and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composites thin films with different weight percentages of AN in PVDF were fabricated by solution casting technique, using doctor blade method. In order to assess the bioactivity, the thin films were soaked in simulated body fluid (SBF). It was found that the film containing 30 wt.% of AN in PVDF actively induced hydroxyapatite formation in 3 days soaking period in SBF.

The effect of Pd-TiO2 nanoparticle doping on structural, optical and thermal properties of the PVA polymer has been investigated using FTIR, UV-Visible, TGA and FESEM analysis. nanosized Pd-TiO2 particles were synthesized using standard method. Pure and Pd-TiO2/PVA nanocomposite films were prepared using solution casting technique. The FTIR study confirmed that the Pd-TiO2 nanoparticles interacts with the OH group of PVA polymer and forms the complex. The presence of these complexes affects the optical and thermal properties the composite. The change in the optical properties was studied using UV-Vis absorption method. The effect of doping on the thermal properties was studied using TGA method and the modified surface morphology using FESEM.

NiTi Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) is now widely used in important applications due to its shape memory effect (SME) and biocompatibility. However, there is still a challenge to control the sizes and shapes of these nanoparticles. Here, we report on the use of pulsed laser deposition technique for the cultivation of NiTi nanoparticles on glass substrates. It discussed the implications of the case of the influence of depositing laser energy on the size of a grain of NiTi nanoparticle. The nominated effect on the optical properties of its thin-film was also discussed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed that the films prepared at 800[Formula: see text]mJ, 900[Formula: see text]mJ and 1000[Formula: see text]mJ were amorphous structures. The Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) results confirmed that the thin films are made up of spherical particles that are evenly distributed (in terms of size). A blueshift in the bandgap was observed in the UV–Visible absorption spectra with increase in the depositing laser energy due to the quantum confinement effect of nanoparticle formation.

Abstract Conducting polymer electrolyte films were prepared based on poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) and poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) by using a solution casting technique. The optimized PVdF-PVA polymer blend ratio was doped with different concentrations of NH4NO3 and polymer blend electrolytes were prepared. The increase in amorphous nature of the polymer electrolytes was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and optical microscopic studies. The complex formation between the polymers and the salt was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. The ac impedance studies were performed to evaluate the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte membranes in the range 303–333 K and the highest ionic conductivity was found to be 2.91×10-4 S/cm at ambient temperature for PVdF-PVA-NH4NO3 (80:20:25 MWt%) polymer electrolyte, with activation energy Ea=0.7 eV. The dielectric behavior of the electrolytes was also studied.
