Objective: Mosquitoes are insect vectors responsible for the transmission of parasitic and viral infections to millions of people worldwide, with substantial morbidity and mortality. Insecticides of botanical origin may serve as suitable alternative bio-control techniques in the future. Methods: The egg hatchability, growth regulatory, longevity, fecundity, and larvicidal activity of crude methanol leaf extract of Hygrophila auriculata were assayed for their toxicity tested against malarial vector mosquito, Anopheles stephensi. Results: The eggs, larvae, larvae/pupae, and cumulative mortality were observed hatching rates for 100 ppm, 0–18 h (18 h exposed) at 24, 48, and 72 h, respectively, and mortality was 33.4, 44.6, 17.9, and 95.9% methanolic extract treatment, with the lethal concentration 50 (LC50)/LC90 values were 35.420 28/75.600 ppm. Effect of methanolic extract was larval, pupal, and adult duration and water extracts of caused longest delayed development from 16.6 days larvae, 7.5 days for pupae and longevity of adult female greatly reduced from 25.9 days and fecundity also reduced from 68.0 at 150 ppm. The larvicidal activity of methanol extract was decreased at 48 h as for instars larvae 63.44/271.95 ppm (I), 57.55/272.48 ppm (II); 62.49/301.22 ppm (III); 67.69/330.48 ppm (IV), and 76.99/343.82 ppm (pupae), respectively. Conclusion: These results suggest that the methanol leaf extract has the potential to be used as an ideal eco-friendly approach for the control of mosquito vector. Therefore, this study provides on the mosquito eggs, larvae, and pupae activities of these plant methanol extract against A. stephensi.

<p>Background: <em>Vinca rosea</em> is known contain alkaloids, it was usually used to treat various diseases. Alkaloids from Vinca leaves are also already known have larvicidal activity. Based on this toxicological activity, the fruit of <em>Vinca rosea</em> was selected to investigation its larvicidal activity against the 3<sup>rd</sup> instar larvae of the mosquito vector of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) <em>Aedes aegypti.</em>  Five concentrations of Vinca fruit extract were tested against the 3<sup>rd</sup> instar Aedes aegypti larvae. The different larval mortality percentages were recorded after 24 hours. Lethal concentration (LC<sub>50</sub> anf LC<sub>90</sub>) of Vinca fruit extract were calculated using Probit analysis. Phytochemical compounds  of ethanolic extract also investigated using Thin layer Chromatography (TLC). LC<sub>50</sub> and LC<sub>90</sub> values of fruit extract were 2.987 mg/ml and 32.861 mg/ml. Alkaloids were detected in extract.</p>

Hexane extract of tuber of plantCyperus rotundus(Cyperaceae) was screened under laboratory conditions for repellent activity against mosquito vectorAnopheles culicifaciesGiles species A (Diptera: Culicidae),Anopheles stephensiListon (Diptera: Culicidae), andCulex quinquefasciatusSay (Diptera: Culicidae). TheCyperus rotundustuber extract was used to determine their effect on mosquito vector, and comparison with the DEET (NN Diethyl 1-3 methyl Benzamide, formerly known as diethyl 1-m-toluamide). The tuber extracts showed more effective at all the dose. Result obtained from the laboratory experiment showed that the tuber extracts are more effective for repellency of allthe mosquito vector even at low dose. Clear dose response relationships were established with the highest dose of 10% tuber extract evoking 100% repellency. Percent protection obtained againstAn. culicifaciesGiles species A 100% repellency in 4 hours, 6 hours,An. stephensi100% repellency in 6 hours andCx. quinquefasciatuswas 100% repellency in 6 hours at the 10% concentration. Against DEET- 2.5%An. culicifaciesA 100% repellency in 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours, An.stephensihave shown 100% repellency in 6 hours, andCulex quinquefasciatushave shown 100% repellency in 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours. The consolidated data of the repellency observed in different species is given and it is evident that the over all repellency rates varied between 80 and 100% for different repellents concentrations (2.5%, 5%, and 10%). The extract can be applied as an effective personal protective measure against mosquito bites.

ABSTRACT The Bacillus laterosporus strains 921 and 615 were shown to have toxicity for larvae of the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti, Anopheles stephensi, and Culex pipiens. The larvicidal activity of B. laterosporus was associated with spores and crystalline inclusions. Purified B. laterosporus 615 crystals were highly toxic for Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi.
