The axial compressive strength of unidirectional FRP made by pultrusion is generally quite lower than its axial tensile strength. This fact decreases the advantages of FRP as main load bearing member in engineering structure. A theoretical iterative calculation approach was suggested to predict the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure and analyze the influences of geometrical parameters on the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure. In this paper, the experimental and theoretical research on the CFRP sheet confined GFRP short pole was extended to the CFRP sheet confined GFRP short pipe, namely, a hollow section pole. Experiment shows that the bearing capacity of the GFRP short pipe can also be heightened obviously by confining CFRP sheet. The theoretical iterative calculation approach in the previous paper is amended to predict the ultimate axial compressive stress of the CFRP sheet confined GFRP short pipe, of which the results agree with the experiment. Lastly the influences of geometrical parameters on the new combined structure are analyzed.

Compression performance of pultruded GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics) can be improved by confined CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics) sheet, but it was affected by some factors. Two groups GFRP short pipe specimens of different outer diameter (104mm and 76mm) were axial compressed. The failure modes of longitudinal splitting and compressive strength failure for the GFRP pipes and those confined by CFRP sheet respectively were comparatively analyzed. Analysis on the influence to the compressive performance of GFRP short pipes confined by CFRP sheet was made from mechanical and geometrical parameters of the CFRP and GFRP in numerical methods. The laws of improvement of compression performance of CFRP sheet confined GFRP short pipe were recognized.

In order to restrain the lateral expansion and splitting of GFRP, and accordingly heighten its axial compressive bearing capacity, a project that to confine GFRP column with surrounding CFRP sheet is suggested in the present study. Experiment on the CFRP sheet confined GFRP column shows that a combined structure of high bearing capacity is attained. Basing on the experiment research a theoretical iterative calculation approach is suggested to predict the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure, and the predicted results agree well with the experimental results. Then the influences of geometrical parameters on the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure are also analyzed basing on this approach.

Relevance of the study. The article studies recently found symphony of the prominent Ukrainian composer of the second half of the eighteenth century Maxim Berezovsky. He is widely known now as the author of cyclic spiritual concerts written for the Orthodox worship, and is practically unknown as a musician instrumentalist associated with the imperial theater and the court musical life. The work of M. Berezovsky as a secular musician determined the creative interest in composing instrumental music intended for secular chamber and orchestral music. Main objective of the article is a clarification of M.Berezovsky symphony as one of secular field artworks in the light of new summaries about artist’s life-creativity. Methodology. Taking into account peculiarities of the material and the analytical approach to its study, the methods of theoretical research have been chosen(abstraction, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, mental modeling, ascension from abstract to concrete, etc.). Conclusions. As a result of a study the symphony analysis in a context of new authentic statements about M.Berezovsky’s life-creativity. It was stated that this artwork was written not accidentally and detects absolute awareness of the artist in all composer’s niceties – how to build a topic and build a homophonic construction based on it, in a technique of orchestral construction, form creations of that time and etc. From the beginning of his creative career, M. Berezovsky was well aware of the possibilities of the orchestra as a performer, attached to the Italian opera and instrumental music. Symphony enriches our imagination about the works of M. Berezovsky in the field of secular instrumental and operatic music and extends the range of works of the artist beyond the spiritual direction. Some signs indicate that the Symphony was not an independent work, but an overture to the opera Demofont.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips are widely used all over the globe as a repair and strengthening material for concrete elements. This paper looks at comparison of numerous methods to rehabilitate concrete beams with the use of CFRP sheet strips. This research work consists of 4 under-reinforced, properly cured RCC beams under two point loading test. One beam was loaded till failure, which was considered the control beam for comparison. Other 3 beams were load till the appearance of initial crack, which normally occurred at third-quarters of failure load and then repaired with different ratios and design of CFRP sheet strips. Afterwards, the repaired beams were loaded again till failure and the results were compared with control beam. Deflections and ultimate load were noted for all concrete beams. It was found out the use of CFRP sheet strips did increase the maximum load bearing capacity of cracked beams, although their behavior was more brittle as compared with control beam.

Subject. The article presents various definitions of the efficiency concept, their changes as the economic science evolves, and describes various methods to measure company performance efficiency, ranging from a simple set of financial indicators to comprehensive systems for effectiveness evaluation. Objectives. The purpose of the study is to systematize the said definitions and identify a category that will meet the current condition of business environment. Methods. The study rests on the retrospective and comparative analysis of interpretations of the efficiency concept in the economic science. We also employ the historical and logical methods of general theoretical research. Results. We identify three approaches to the interpretation of the efficiency concept. Within the selected approaches, we consider the main methods for company performance measurement that have emerged since 1914. The paper formulates criteria, which were used to carry out the comparative analysis of these methods. The analysis enabled to trace all changes in the methods. Conclusions. We propose to use the term Integrated Company Efficiency and to develop methodological framework for measuring the comprehensive efficiency of companies operating in various industries.
