SummaryThe aim of this study was to investigate the socioeconomic and demographic factors influencing the body mass index (BMI) of non-pregnant married Bangladeshi women of reproductive age. Secondary (Hierarchy) data from the 2011 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey, collected using two-stage stratified cluster sampling, were used. Two-level linear regression analysis was performed to remove the cluster effect of the variables. The mean BMI of married non-pregnant Bangladeshi women was 21.60±3.86 kg/m2, and the prevalence of underweight, overweight and obesity was 22.8%, 14.9% and 3.2%, respectively. After removing the cluster effect, age and age at first marriage were found to be positively (p<0.01) related with BMI. Number of children was negatively related with women’s BMI. Lower BMI was especially found among women from rural areas and poor families, with an uneducated husband, with no television at home and who were currently breast-feeding. Age, total children ever born, age at first marriage, type of residence, education level, level of husband’s education, wealth index, having a television at home and practising breast-feeding were found to be important predictors for the BMI of married Bangladeshi non-pregnant women of reproductive age. This information could be used to identify sections of the Bangladeshi population that require special attention, and to develop more effective strategies to resolve the problem of malnutrition.

This study aims to analyze the patterns of Muslim consumption behaviors in the Ramadhan month around Jambi. A multiple linear regression analysis model is used to see the factors influencing the consumption behaviors. The finding shows that cultural and religiosity variables are the dominant factors influencing the pattern of Muslim consumption behaviors in the Ramadhan month. From the statistic results of SPSS verse 22, it was found the coefficient of determination (adjusted R2) obtained at 0.164. (16.4%). It reflects that 16.4% of consumption patterns influencing by the Cultural, Social, Religiusity and Psychology variables while the remaining 83.6% consumption patterns are influenced by unnecessary variables in this research.

This research aims to investigate the factors influencing the rate of foreign tourists’ visit to tourism destination in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The data were collected using observation, interview, documentation study and questionnaires. The data were analysed using multiple linear regression analysis. The findings of the study indicated that the ancillary facilities are the dominant factor influencing tourists’ visit to tourism destination in North Sumatera. The factors of service quality and facilities and infrastructures provide negative influence on tourists’ visit to tourism destination.

Purpose of this study is to analyze determinant factors influencing the demand for Honda motorcycle credit at PT. Federal International Finance (FIF) Manokwari Regency. Descriptive statistics analysis method is used. Data was collected by interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis tools. The results show that the growth of credit demand in Manokwari Regency from 2011 to 2014 showed an increase. This because the use of motorbikes are efficient and economical as transportation. Thus, people prefer to use it rather than other transportation, such as cars. Furthermore, result of this study is that of the four variables used (income, credit payment period, the price of substituted products and goods) simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the demand for Honda motorcycle credit in Manokwari Regency. While partially, only the credit payment period does not affect the demand for Honda motorcyclecredit.

The success of awqaf institutions are determined by many factors, among others is good feedback from the endowers either from their contribution or repeat endowing. This study investigates the perception of endowers to endow and factors motivating them to repeat endowing in ensuring waqf institution success among 366 respondents in 2014. The study employs two models of multiple linear regression analysis. The first model examines the determinant factors influencing the intention to endow whereas the second model investigates internal and external factors influencing the intention to repeated waqf endowment in future. The findings show integrity of waqf institution, religious obligation and access to cash waqf have significant contribution to the endower’s perception to endow cash waqf. Meanwhile, repeated cash waqf behavior will take place if endowers are familiar with waqf institutions and have easy access to cash waqf as these two variables are significantly related to dependent variable. Thus, in order to motivate endowers to repeat cash waqf behavior, continuous promotion to create familiarity together with easy access to cash waqf are vital to encourage repeated charitable behavior.

Purpose Quality measurement is the trigger for quality improvement. Indeed, what gets measured gets done. The real scope of quality improvement in construction projects is the difficulty and-maybe-lack of quality measurement methods. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors influencing the quality performance of highway projects in Egypt. Furthermore, this paper also contributes to develop models to measure the quality level of these projects. Design/methodology/approach A literature review is conducted to compile a list of factors influencing the quality of highway projects. The resulting list of factors is subjected to a questionnaire survey which was sent to owners, consultants and contractors of highway projects in Egypt. Furthermore, linear regression analysis and statistical fuzzy approaches are adopted for modeling process. Findings The survey results show that availability of experienced staff in the owner’s and contractor’s teams during the project execution, asphalt quality and type used in the construction process, pavement is not designed according to the regional conditions, and contractor’s labors and equipment capability are among the most important factors influencing quality performance. Originality/value The main contribution of this study is to develop models to measure the quality of highway projects in Egypt. The first model is based on the linear regression analysis, while the second one is based on a statistical fuzzy approach which is a hybrid approach from the fuzzy logic and regression analysis. Validation of the models reveals that the linear regression and the statistical fuzzy models can accurately assess expected quality of any future highway projects at confidence levels 68.97 and 87.44 percent, respectively.

Abstract Background During operation on thoracic and lumbar tuberculosis infection, patients can lose a significant amount of blood and receive a perioperative blood transfusion. However, the risk factors were not identified for increased intraoperative blood loss and perioperative blood transfusion. The aim of this retrospective study is to determine the predictors associated with perioperative blood transfusion and intraoperative blood loss in thoracolumbar tuberculosis. Methods From 2008 to 2018, 336 patients who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study. The predictors of allogenic blood transfusion were identified in a univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Univariate and multivariate linear regression was attempted to investigate the factors influencing intraoperative blood loss. Results Altogether, 336 adult patients with thoracic and lumbar tuberculosis were included in this study. The mean patient age was 49.6 ± 15.5 (range 14-85) years for those patients. Our data revealed a significant relationship between blood transfusions and female gender, BMI, vertebral collapse/Kyphosis and intraoperative blood loss. Multivariable linear regression analysis revealed that BMI, levels of instrumentation, surgical approach and operative time were independent factors influencing intraoperative blood loss. Conclusions This study identified some clinical predictors for perioperative blood transfusion and intraoperative blood loss in patients undergoing thoracic and lumbar tuberculosis surgery. These results may contribute to preoperative blood transfusion planning and minimize intra- or post-operative complications.
