In this article, we have analyzed the results of the application of the combined solution of decasan and ozone-oxygen mixture, as a local conservative treatment, for 135 patients with acute exacerbation of chronic purulent medial otitis (CPOM). Its use increases the effectiveness of treatment and reduces time. The study of long-term results has shown persistence of sustained remission in 91,4% of patients.A comparative analysis of traditional treatments and topical administration of antiseptic 0.002 % solution of “Dekasan” (dekametansin), in combination with ozone-oxygen mixture in patients with suppurative otitis media, was carried out. The analysis was conducted using ozone-oxygen mixture along with a local irrigation of middle ear cavity with “Dekasan.”

AbstractThe effect of aerobic bacteriology on the clinical presentation, complications of the disease and long-term results of surgical treatment was assessed in a cohort of 368 patients with chronic suppurative otitis media. Bacteriological findings showed no significant difference between child and adult patients. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated in cholesteatoma ears more frequently than Pseudomonas aeruginosa, in chronic ears without cholesteatoma the situation was reversed. Bacteriological findings had no significant effect on the incidence of complications caused by the disease. Failures after surgical treatment were most common in Pseudomonas ears. The bacteriology had no significant effect on pre-operative hearing levels nor postoperative hearing results. It was concluded that, in order to improve results of chronic ear sugery, more attention should be paid to pre-operative conservative treatment of chronically discharging ears, especially those infected by P. aeruginosa.

Long-term results of complex treatment with antibiotics and local therapy of 131 patients with onychomycosis are presented. These observations indicate satisfactory results in the treatment of onychomycosis. Cure Achieved with localization of the disease on the hands in 96.2-100%, on the legs in 74.2 81.5%.

We observed 9 patients with plastic induration of the penis (Peyronie's disease), 3 of them interrupted treatment. Long-term results of treatment were traced in 6 patients (age - from 48 to 60 years): in 5 patients, complaints and clinical manifestations of disease recurrence were not noted for 2-4 years.

The results of the complex treatment of patients with generalized chronic periodontitis, including photodynamic therapy and microcurrent electrical stimulation are presented. Analysis of the immediate and long-term results showed the effectiveness of the impact of this treatment on cerebral hemodynamics and autonomic balance in these patients.

emphasize the importance of preoperative preparation and well-coordinated work of related specialists using a specific clinical instance. Case report Reported is a successful experience of two-stage treatment of the patient with hip PJI complicated with urinary bladder defect. A 40-year old male patient diagnosed with left-sided deep hip PJI Tsukayama type 3 was treated at department of infection surgery, Rostov Regional Clinical Hospital No. 2 in January 2019. Total hip arthroplasty performed in 2008 was complicated by migration of acetabulum component. A retroperitoneal bladder defect (pressure ulcer) was detected during the first stage of resection arthroplasty and placement of an antibacterial spacer. Urological procedure was performed in a delayed manner due to technical difficulties of implant removal, prolonged and traumatic procedure, and high blood loss. With the patient's condition stabilized cystoscopy and bilateral ultrasound guided percutaneous nephroureterostomy were performed. Prolonged antibacterial aetiotropic treatment was administered. The second stage of surgical treatment included revision hip arthroplasty using a tailored acetabular component and a standard revision femoral component performed at 6 months of debridement. Results Short- and long-term results were good with sustained remission achieved. Patient could walk unassisted using a cane and had a satisfactory ROM in the left hip with HHS scored 76.255. Conclusion Multiple disciplinary teamwork is appropriate for treatment of deep PJI with much coherence, coordinated efforts and expertise from diverse professionals.

Dr. Rowe's review1 of acute suppurative otitis media was excellent, but I am concerned over the lack of pursuing the problem of preventing recurrent otitis media with long-term antibiotic therapy. Perrin et al.2 did a very short study using sulfisoxazole and found very encouraging results. Why haven't more centers studied this problem? Otitis media is one of the most frequent problems seen in general pediatric practice today. The vogue of tympanostomy tubes emerged with very little control study, and now even our ear, nose, and throat colleagues are less satisfied with the tubes than they were seven years ago.
