We have found two different types of mechanism of electrorheological (ER) effect observed in polymer blends of side-chain type liquid crystalline polymers and a dimethylsiloxane, and clarified the relationship between the ER effect and the structure. On the basis of their mechanisms we discuss the electrorheological properties of these two blends.
