The state of Minas Gerais has the largest artistic heritage of the national baroque, highlighting the mansions and churches of the historical municipalities. Because of the historical and cultural importance of such buildings, it is necessary to restore their aesthetic and functional elements, such as the wooden structures, in the majority. This work aims to sequence the stages of projects of restoration and recovery of wooden structures. As a case study, presents the restoration work of the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church, in Diamantina, diagnosing its pathologies and proposing the intervention. It was necessary to chemically treatment against xylophagous insects infestations and replace part of the structure with new treated wood, anchored in a new foundation made of reinforced concrete. This reinforcement was indispensable for the structural stability of the Church, even changing part of the environment. It is concluded that the choice of the technique of recovery of wood structures is conditioned by the fact that it is a restoration. It is also emphasized that the limitations of a restoration project often prevent the obedience of technical normalization regarding the loading and dimensioning of structures. The technique used in Diamantina can be improved for similar cases and future studies are important for the presentation of less destructive methodologies.

Wood modification in general, is an environmental non-biocide method to modify and improve certain wood properties to enable its utilization for diverse purpose. In this study, Firmiana simplex wood was modify using low melting point tin-alloy as the heat-treatment medium. The anatomical properties of the tin-bath treated wood were studied using a light microscope and scanning electron microscope analysis. Microscopic analyses with a light microscope showed that the morphologies of the wood were less smashed by the impact of the treatment with no deformation of the vessels after tin-alloy treatment while scanning electron microscope revealed collapse in the wood structures with damages to the cell walls and vessels. It was also evident from scanning electron microscope analyses that tin-alloy penetrated the wood structure, therefore forming a film covering the cell walls and partly occupying the wood cell lumens.

An examination of some specialized lunar and planetary ephemerides has revealed inconsistencies in the adopted planetary masses, the presence of non-gravitational terms, and some outright numerical errors. They should be considered of temporary usefulness only, subject to subsequent amendment as required for the interpretation of observational data.

AbstractThe observational data of July 11, 1991 eclipse solar corona obtained by both electropolarimeter (EP) and CCD-matrix were processed. Using these data, the solar corona photometry was carried out. The results of EP data are compared with the ones of CCD data. It must be noted here that the CCD data give us only characteristics of the inner corona, while the EP data show the features of both the inner and middle corona up to 4R⊙. Standard flattening indexϵis evaluated from both data. The dependence of the flattening index on the distance from the solar limb is investigated. The isophotes in Na and Ca lines are plotted. Based on these data some ideas and conclusions on the type of the solar corona are presented.
