There is scarce evidence regarding the risk of weight loss and the effect of having registered dietitians (RDs) on staff in rehabilitation wards on weight loss. We aimed to examine the effects of RDs in Kaifukuki (convalescent) rehabilitation wards (KRWs) on the prevention of weight loss in adult patients. Data from 2-year nationwide annual surveys on KRWs in Japan were retrospectively analysed. Weight loss was defined as loss of ≥5% weight during the KRW stay. Risk of weight loss in class 1 KRWs (obligated to provide nutrition care) was compared with that in class 2–6 KRWs (not obligated). Risk of weight loss in class 2–6 KRWs with RDs was compared to those without. Overall, 17.7% of 39,417 patients lost weight. Class 1 KRWs showed a lower risk of weight loss than class 2–6 KRWs (17.3% vs. 18.5%, p = 0.003). KRWs with RDs showed a significantly lower incidence of weight loss than those without RDs (16.1% vs. 18.8%, p = 0.015). Class 1 KRWs and exclusively staffed RDs were independently associated with lower odds of weight loss (odds ratio = 0.915 and 0.810, respectively). Approximately 18% of KRW patients lost weight, and having RDs on staff can lower the risk of weight loss.

Abstract - Background: Enlarged financial and managerial resources spending on medical improvement had rarely to decrease the crowed waiting line or increase the patient satisfaction. Investigating patients’ perceived value (PPV) gain an insight of patients’ satisfaction. PPV is a valuable perspective for hospitals to strategically improve medical care quality and performance from functional and emotional sides. - Methods: According to the theory of perceived value, an empirical study had been carried out by field survey and data collection in 7 well-known hospitals in Zhejiang Province China. 2586 questionnaires with valid data were analyzed according to PPV.- Results: Beside of the importance of functional values (effectiveness of treatment effect, reasonable and accurate prices, standardization and normalization, convenience and accessibility), the emotional values (communication with doctors/nurses, comfortable environment and facilitates) were highlighted. The preferences of patients’ perceived value were influenced by patients’ background features, and then the differentiation of patients’ satisfaction was proceeded. These patients, who are young, female, outpatient, light ill condition, high educational level and high income, tend to be relatively high demanding on medical care services but in high dissatisfaction level. Additionally, the findings show an advantage to pass the reasonability of waiting time to patients’ thought.- Conclusion: Classified convenience receiving approaches according to differentiated PPV and background features of patients, equipped up with e-enabled health care environment, can bring worthwhile patients’ satisfaction in Chinese hospitals .

BACKGROUND Telepsychiatry is an increasingly used model of mental health care that connects patients with psychiatrists at a distance via videoconference. Telepsychiatry is an effective clinical intervention that improves access to quality care in regions with limited resources or in clinical situations where in-person care is unavailable. OBJECTIVE This study aims to develop a validated survey tool to measure patient experience and satisfaction with telepsychiatry based on the quality of care domains. This study also seeks to understand which health service outcomes were most strongly correlated with overall satisfaction in the context of telepsychiatry. METHODS The survey created in this study was developed and validated with a panel of subject matter and process experts and was piloted with 274 patients who received clinical consultations through the TeleMental Health Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. Factor analysis was used to determine correlations between questions and quality of care domains and was also used to assess model fit. RESULTS The study provides a validated survey to measure patient satisfaction and experience with telepsychiatry across 4 domains: access and timeliness, appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety. Both safety and access and timeliness were found to be statistically significant predictors of satisfaction in our sample. CONCLUSIONS By situating patient satisfaction and experience within this framework, the survey facilitates patient data collection and interpretation through a clinical quality lens.

Abstract Objectives The study was conducted to evaluate patient satisfaction and view quality of care and completed nutrition care services they received before and after bariatric surgery. Methods A survey was conducted using a self-completed questionnaire and was administered to bariatric patients. Survey assessed patients’ decision-making for bariatric surgery, patients’ view of their experience of the received nutrition care and the empowerment to follow the prescribed plan. Results Thirty-five patients (30 female and 4 males) completed the questionnaire. The majority of patients were Saudi national (88.6%, n = 31). More patients were holding a university degree (65.7%, n = 23). Bariatric surgery preferences was mostly selected by patients (88.6%, n = 31) with no shared decision-making with surgeons or family members. The decision to undergo bariatric surgery was more likely to be related to health risks issues (65.7%, n = 23) and not for beauty purposes. Patients (34.3%, n = 12) never be seen by a dietitian either before or after surgery, 20%, n = 7 were only seen before surgery or after surgery (17%, n = 6). Nutritional care plans were well explained by a dietitian (RD) to 77.8% of patients (n = 21),13% (n = 3) reported that RDs’ answers to their queries were confusing. Patients 85% (n = 23) find Rds as very cooperative and interactive when manage and plan their nutritional needs. Delivered information are clear and understandable by 87% of patients and all responded patients felt that they were treated with respect by dietitians. Nearly 61% (n = 17) reported that RDs’ involvement in their nutrition care was excellent and 57.1% had excellent overall experience. Twelve patients reported seeing a dietitian throughout their treatment. However, 6 of them saw the dietitian once every month and the rest used to see the dietitian once every 3 months. Conclusions The decision makers including and all Rds will benefit from the results of this study to improve the outcome measures of dietetics services in the scope of bariatric surgery.  The process of standardized nutrition care is an activity carried out on patients who are at risk of malnutrition, already experiencing malnutrition and special conditions with certain diseases. As for the steps of nutrition care process is namely nutrition assessment, diagnosis and intervention. Based on medical records at Ende Regional Hospital the number of inpatient hypertension patients was 442 in 2018. Nutrition services especially nutrition care process in hospital have been done well, but the implementation is still not optimal due to luck of nutritionists. This research was conducted to determine the process of standardized nutrition care in hypertensive patients in RSUD Ende. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Informants key in this study are nutritionist and supporting informants is nutrition workers and hypertensive patients. The results of the study had been carried out well in Ende Regional Hospital,but the implementation was not optimal due to lack of nutritionists and nurses’ knowledge about nutrition. Standarduzed nutrition care can provide a good change for hypertensive patients, giving the right diet can reduce the hypertensive patient’s blood pressure. The results of this study are expected to further improve well-standarduzed nutrition care services to patients in accordance with the steps of nutrition care process so that it can help the healing process of disease.
