<p><em>Iron deficiency anemia is anemia caused by iron deficiency in the blood. Maternal iron deficiency affects the low iron reserves in neonates </em><em>and it also influences on </em><em>Brain Derived Neurotropic Factor (BDNF) </em><em> which affects cognitive function.</em><em> </em><em>The purpose of this study was to determine the difference mean of BDNF in neonates from normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency. </em><em>The design of this research was Cross Sectional</em><em> </em><em>design. This research was conducted in Community Health Center of Lubuk  Buaya, Ambacang Community Health Center, Community Health Center of Ikur Koto Health Center and Biomedical Laboratory of Andalas University on February 2017 to April 2018. There were 42 pregnant women was selected as sample e of this research. The samples were chosen by Consecutive Sampling. Then, the sample is divided into two groups: normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. BDNF are examined by the ELISA. Next, the data were analyzed by using T test. The levels of BDNF neonates in normal pregnant group was 3.65(ng/ml) and the anemia pregnant group was 1.74(ng/ml) (p &lt;0.05). There was significant difference of BDNF levels in neonates from normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. </em><em>The conclusion of this study is there is a difference of average BDNF in neonates from normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency.</em></p><p> </p><p>Anemia defisiensi besi adalah anemia yang disebabkan karena kekurangan zat besi dalam darah. Defisiensi besi  maternal berdampak pada rendahnya cadangan besi pada neonatus dan berdampak terhadap ekspresi Brain Derived Neurotropic Factor (BDNF) yang berpengaruh pada fungsi kognitif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan rerata kadar BDNF pada neonatus dari ibu hamil normal dan ibu hamil defisiensi besi. Desain penelitian ini adalah Cross Sectional. Penelitian dilakukan di Puskesmas Lubuk Buaya, Puskesmas Ambacang, Puskesmas Ikur Koto dan Laboratorium Biomedik Universitas Andalas pada bulan Februari 2017 – Juli 2018. Sampel Penelitian adalah ibu hamil sebanyak 42 orang yang dipilih secara Consecutive Sampling, sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu ibu hamil normal dan ibu hamil anemia defisiensi besi. BDNF diperiksa dengan metode ELISA. Data dianalisa menggunakan uji T test. Kadar BDNF neonatus pada ibu kelompok normal adalah 3,65(ng/ml) dan kelompok ibu anemia adalah 1,74(ng/ml) (p&lt;0,05). Terdapat perbedaan bermakna kadar BDNF pada neonatus dari ibu hamil normal dan ibu anemia defisiensi besi. <em></em></p>

ABSTRAK  Anemia merupakan masalah global terutama bagi ibu hamil. Penyebab utama anemia pada kehamilan adalah defisiensi besi kemudian diikuti oleh defisiensi folat. WHO memperkirakan angka kejadian anemia sekitar 42 % terjadi pada ibu hamil dengan kondisi ekonomi menengah kebawah. Tujuan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu hamil. tentang anemia defisensi besi dan pemeriksaan kadar hemoglobin sebagai deteksi dini mandiri di Desa Matang Seulimeng wilayah kerja Puskesmas Langsa Barat Kota Langsa. Bentuk kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat adalah dengan metode penyuluhan dengan ceramah dan tanya jawab. Sedangkan deteksi dini resiko tinggi dilakukan dengan pemeriksaan kadar hemoglobin dan setelah 2 minggu intervensi dilakukan evaluasi ibu hamil anemia dengan pemeriksaan kadar Hemoglobin. Terjadi perubahan peningkatan pengetahuan baik sebesar 85 % dan hasil pemeriksaan hemoglobin dari 18 ibu hamil anemia setelah evaluasi menjadi 67,8 %  tidak anemia .Penilaian mengenai pemahaman ibu hamil tentang edukasi anemia Defisiensi besi dan pemeriksaan Hemoglobin sebagai deteksi dini resiko pada ibu hamil adalah 3 (tiga) tahap (tahap pretest, tahap penyuluhan, dan tahap posttest serta evaluasi ibu hamil anemia). Adanya peningkatan pengetahuan setelah diberikan edukasi anemia defisiensi pada ibu hamil, dan mampu melakukan deteksi dini mandiri tanda gejala anemia sehingga mendapat penanganan sesegera mungkin. Kata Kunci : anemia defisiensi zat besi, kadar hemoglobin, deteksi dini, ibu hamil  ABSTRACT  Anemia is a global problem, especially for pregnant women. The main cause of anemia in pregnancy is iron deficiency followed by folate deficiency. WHO estimates that the incidence of anemia is around 42% in pregnant women with middle to lower economic conditions. The purpose of this service is to increase the knowledge of pregnant women. regarding iron deficiency anemia and hemoglobin level examination as an independent early detection in Matang Seulimeng Village, the working area of Langsa Barat Health Center, Langsa City. The form of community service activities is the extension method with lectures and questions and answers. Meanwhile, early detection of high risk is carried out by examining hemoglobin levels and after 2 weeks of intervention, pregnant women with anemia are evaluated by examining hemoglobin levels. There was an increase in knowledge of both 85% and the results of hemoglobin examination from 18 anemic pregnant women after the evaluation became 67.8% not anemic. An assessment of the understanding of pregnant women about iron deficiency anemia education and hemoglobin examination as early detection of risk in pregnant women is 3 (three) stages (pretest stage, counseling stage, and posttest stage and evaluation of anemic pregnant women). There is an increase in knowledge after being given education on deficiency anemia in pregnant women, and being able to independently detect early signs of anemia so that they get treatment as soon as possible. Keywords: iron deficiency anemia, hemoglobin levels, early detection, pregnant women

Aim. To compare risk factors, features of COVID-19 course and outcomes in pregnant women during epidemic increase in incidence in 2020 and 2021. Materials and methods. The study included 163 pregnant women with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection within May December 2020 (1st2nd waves of the epidemic) and 158 pregnant women who had new coronavirus infection within May August 2021 (3rd wave of the epidemic). Patients in all groups were comparable in age (1835 years), social status, parity, body mass index, and had no known risk factors for COVID-19. Results. Iron deficiency anemia, smoking, belonging to the Buryat ethnic group were recognized as persistent risk factors for COVID-19 in pregnant women. Over the 1st year of the pandemic, in pregnant women, the following clinical manifestations of novel coronavirus infection were commonly seen: anosmia (87.7%), somnolence (68.7%), shortness of breath even with a mild lung damage (68.1%). In the 3rd wave of the 2nd year of the pandemic, the leading signs and symptoms were cough (70.3% vs 38.7%, p0.001), runny nose (46.2% vs 3.7%, p0001), sore throat (367% vs 37%, p0.001); an increase in body temperature above 38C (19.6% vs 7,4%, p=0.006), pneumonia detected by computed tomography (61.4% vs 21.4%; p0.001). There was a significant increase in the incidence of severe lung lesions (with computed tomography 34: 17.7% vs 4.9%; p0.001) and admissions to intensive care units (11.4% vs 6.4%; p= 0041). There was a need for invasive mechanical ventilation (1.89% vs 0%; p=0.118). There was 1 death (0.63% vs 0%; p= 0.492), which was associated with the fulminant course of COVID-19. Conclusion. Persistent COVID-19 confounders in pregnant women who have no known risk factors in the third trimester of gestation are iron deficiency anemia, smoking, and belonging to the Buryat ethnic group. The clinical course of SARS-CoV-2 infection has changed and became more unfavorable: symptoms of acute respiratory disease (cough, runny nose, sore throat) began to prevail, the rate and severity of pneumonia and rate of mortality increased.
