IntroductionSocial networks allow individuals to express themselves, and establish or maintain connections with others. Using social networks like Facebook may be associated with a sense of self-worth and may play an important role in psychological development of university students who are in emerging adulthood phase.Objective(1)Assess the psychological well-being of Saudi university students using social networks (Facebook).(2)Explore whether the relationship between Facebook use and bridging social capital is different for individuals with varying degrees of self-esteem and satisfaction with life.AimTo study the psychological well-being of Saudi university students using social networks (Facebook).MethodAn electronic survey was published in the community site for all students of King Saud University. in addition to the demographic information, the survey evaluates Facebook use intensity, bridging social capital and psychological well-being: self-esteem and satisfaction with life.ResultsA total of 1005 students completed the survey, of which 50.5% were female. Majority of them were members in Facebook (92.1%).ConclusionsResults showed no significant correlation between the use of Facebook and psychological well-being. It could be due to the fundamental difference between Arabs and other cultures or due to the use of other social networks. There was a positive relationship between bridging social capital and psychological well-being with being in preparatory year, which is most likely because advanced years has more workload preventing students from participating in King Saud University community. A longitudinal study over a series of years and addressing other popular social networks would be the next step.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Although entrepreneurial intention has been widely studied using cognitive models, we still lack entrepreneurial vocation and, therefore, lack disruptive innovations. Entrepreneurship scholars have some understanding of the reasons underlying this weakness, although there is much room for improvement in our learning concerning how to promote entrepreneurship among university students, especially in the transformed context of digital technologies. This paper focuses on the early stages of start-up, and in particular seeks to evaluate what role social and psychological factors play in the development of entrepreneurial intentions. Drawing on network theory, we consider the impact of social networks on entrepreneurial intention. Specifically, we analyze the influence of two types of social networks: face-to-face and online social networks, with the latter proving especially important in digital transformations. In addition, based on affective congruency theory, we relate affect with entrepreneurial intention. Particularly, we evaluate the influence of positive and negative dispositional affectivity on the formation of entrepreneurial intentions. Finally, since affect and emotions can also be related with social relationships, we analyze whether dispositional affectivities influence entrepreneurial intention through the mediation effect of social networks. Using structural equation modeling, we confirm the impact of both online and face-to-face social networks, as well as positive dispositional affectivity on entrepreneurial intention for 589 higher education students in Spain. However, negative dispositional affectivity is not seen to influence entrepreneurial intention. Furthermore, both face-to-face and online social networks are influenced by positive dispositional affectivity. Moreover, these two types of networks can even partially mediate the relationship between positive dispositional affectivity and entrepreneurial intention. Positive dispositional affectivity can thus influence entrepreneurial intention in two different ways: directly and indirectly through both face-to-face and online social networks. This study provides further insights and adds to the literature on affect, social networks, and entrepreneurial intention. From a broader perspective, we also contribute to the literature on disruptive innovations by explaining how the development of entrepreneurial intentions would have positive consequences for university students vis-à-vis achieving these disruptive innovations.

The study aimed to identify the transition to distance education for King Saud University students in light of the coronavirus crisis from the faculty members' perspective following certain variables; such as obtaining the perspective of faculty members about students' use of distance education tools, their satisfaction level with the transition toward distance education, and the reflection of such transition and its obstacles in light of the coronavirus crisis. The study followed the descriptive approach with a sample of (362) faculty members at King Saud University. The study used a questionnaire consisting of (4) axes that were directly related to the study questions. The results of the study indicated that the application level of distance education tools by King Saud University students in light of the coronavirus crisis came largely according to the relative weight of 81.7%. There was a significant level of satisfaction with King Saud University students regarding the transition, with a relative weight of 80.9%. The study also showed that there were significant repercussions regarding the transition to distance education in light of the coronavirus crisis; where the approval rate was 86.6%. In addition, there were noticeable obstacles, from the perspective of the university's faculty members that hinder the transition process for the students; where the rate was 72.3%. The results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample towards the impact of shifting to distance education due to the age variable to the benefit of the sample individuals under the age of (40); no such differences appeared on the variable of gender. The study showed the presence of statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample towards the impact of shifting to distance education due to the variable of years of experience; these differences were for the benefit of those who have less than (5) years of years' experience and for the benefit of the sample who have (5) to (10) years of experience. The researcher recommended the necessity of spreading awareness in the local community and changing their views towards graduates and students of distance education by believing in them with confidence and conviction in their capabilities and competence.

Abstract

In Chile, current legislation doesn’t refer to sexual harassment in higher education contexts. Consequently, sexual assaults occurred in the academic sphere become a vaguely visible phenomenon. In this scenario, the researchers present a qualitative case studio developed in the Valparaíso Region, before the feminist mobilizations from 2018 —a series of student demonstrations led by young women college students. Specifically, in this studio, the researchers analyze oral discourses by women who had been victims of sexual harassment episodes perpetrated by students and scholars at the main universities of the region. Through several interviews, the researchers examine the impact of sexual harassment in the lives of the victims, the main obstacles that these victims find in their search of justice, and the role that social networks play as safety zones for women resistance.
