Is the Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A) a viable degree option for those wishing a career in academe? The D.B.A. degree is often considered to be a professional degree, in-tended for business practitioners, while the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is por-trayed as the degree for preparing college or university faculty. Conversely, many academic programs market their D.B.A. programs to future academicians. In this study, we investigat-ed whether the D.B.A. is, in fact, a viable faculty credential by gathering data from univer-sity catalogs and doctoral program websites and handbooks from 427 graduate business and management programs to analyze the terminal degrees held by 6159 faculty. The analysis indicated that 173 institutions (just over 40% of the total) employed 372 faculty whose ter-minal degree was the D.B.A. This constituted just over 6% of the total number of faculty. Additionally, the program and faculty qualification standards of the six regional accrediting agencies and the three programmatic accrediting agencies for business programs (AACSB, IACBE, and ACBSP) were analyzed. Results indicated that all these accrediting agencies treated the D.B.A. and Ph.D. in business identically and that the D.B.A. was universally considered to be a valid credential for teaching business at the university level. Suggestions for future research are also offered.

In examining this group, Bramadat demonstrates how this tiny minority thrives within the overwhelmingly secular context of the University.

On the basis of the analysis of the literature sources, we determined the possible range of using the method of the Earth`s natural pulse electromagnetic field. As a result of detailed analysis of domestic and foreign research, we demonstrated the relevance of conducting research focused on development of the Earth'snatural pulse electromagneticfield (or ENPEMF). Using the results of theoretical studies, the advantages and disadvantages of the ENPEMF method were determined. A complex of physical processes which preceded the development of the pulse electromagnetic field of the Earth was characterized, and the impact of mechanical deformations of rocks on the change in the condition of the electromagnetic field was experimentally proven. The main fundamentals on the determination of depth range of the ENPEMF method were examined and a new approach to interpretation of the data was suggested. We conducted an analysis of methods developed earlier of calculating geometric parameters of the sources which generate electromagnetic impulses. Their practicability at a certain stage of solving the data of geological tasks was experimentally tested. We determined the factors which affect the depth range of the ENPEMF method. A mathematical solution of the effectiveness of the ENPEMF method was suggested and determined the relations between the depth parameter of the study and the frequency of measuring and effective value of specific electric resistance. On the example of different objects, the effectiveness and correctness of the suggested method of determining the depth range parameter was proven. In particular, the theoretical results of the study were tested and confirmed on objects of different geological-morphological and engineering-technical aspects, i.e. Novo-Holyn mine in the Kalush-Holynske potash deposit and the multi-storey educational building of the University in Ivano-Frankivsk. The practicability of using the ENPEMF method in combination with other methods of electrometry for solving practical geological tasks was experimentally proven.

The national affiliation of the philosopher is determined not by the geographical terrain of his residence, not by the language of the publication of works, not by his favor to a certain philosophical tradition, but above all by the spirit of ethnic consciousness, which with the need to be seen in the content of his writings, their thematic orientation, in the style of philosophizing, the practical orientation of his creative heritage - the desire to help their people in historical self-determination, in its social progress. It is the latter that gives grounds to be attributed to the galaxy of the Ukrainian philosophers of the doctor of philosophy Volodymyr Ilyich Oleksyuk who was born in 1913 - this is one hundred years ago - in the famous Carpathian village of Sheshory, he received secondary education in Kolomyia, philosophical - at Lviv University, at the universities of Freiburg and New York Doctor degree for work "Metaphysical reality of the difference between the essence and existence of existence" V.Oksyuk received in 1967 at the University of East Florida. Since 1970, he lived in Chicago, headed the Ukrainian Catholic Academic Association "Obnov", at the same time was a member of a number of international philosophical societies.


In the year 1786 Erland Samuel Bring, Professor at the University of Lund in Sweden, showed how by an extension of the method of Tschirnhausen it was possible to deprive the general algebraical equation of the 5th degree of three of its terms without solving an equation higher than the 3rd degree. By a well-understood, however singular, academical fiction, this discovery was ascribed by him to one of his own pupils, a certain Sven Gustaf Sommelius, and embodied in a thesis humbly submitted to himself for approval by that pupil, as a preliminary to his obtaining his degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the University. The process for effecting this reduction seems to have been overlooked or forgotten, and was subsequently re-discovered many years later by Mr. Jerrard. In a report contained in the ‘Proceedings of the British Association’ for 1836, Sir William Hamilton showed that Mr. Jerrard was mistaken in supposing that the method was adequate to taking away more than three terms of the equation of the 5th degree, but supplemented this somewhat unnecessary refutation of a result, known à priori to be impossible, by an extremely valuable discussion of a question raised by Mr. Jerrard as to the number of variables required in order that any system of equations of given degrees in those variables shall admit of being satisfied without solving any equation of a degree higher than the highest of the given degrees. In the year 1886 the senior author of this memoir showed in a paper in Kronecker'e (better known as Crelle’s ) ‘Journal that the trinomial equation of the 5th degree, upon which by Bring’s method the general equation of that degree can be made to depend, has necessarily imagmaiy coefficients except in the case where four of the roots of the original equation are imaginary, and also pointed out method of obtaining the absolute minimum degree M of an equation from which an given number of specified terms can be taken away subject to the condition of no having to solve any equation of a degree higher than M. The numbers furnished be Hamilton’s method, it is to be observed, are not minima unless a more stringer condition than this is substituted, viz., that the system of equations which have to be resolved in order to take away the proposed terms shall be the simplest possible i. e ., of the lowest possible weight and not merely of the lowest order; in the memo: in ‘Crelle,’ above referred to, he has explained in what sense the words weight an order are here employed. He has given the name of Hamilton’s Numbers to these relative minima (minima, i. e ., in regard to weight) for the case where the terms to be taken away from the equation occupy consecutive places in it, beginning with the second.
