In this article, we have designed and fabricated the gamma-type Stirling engine based on the compression ratio technique. This engine is attached on a parabolic dish of a solar collector. The engine shows a good performance in terms of compression ratio, external work, total pressure, and engine’s speed. Our engine offers the thermal efficiency of 30.59 % so that it can reach the output mechanical power of 0.934. The temperature difference of 137 K can maintain very well for the heat collection of the solar collector even when the weather conditions are poor. Furthermore, our materials are environmentally friendly and this design is expected to be in the applications of the solar tracker in the future.

The aim of this work is to study a mathematical modelling and simulation for predicting the thermal performance heat-pipe evacuated a solar collector for water heater, which was considered the temperature distribution along the tube axis and radius. This model used to help in studying the dynamic behaviour of the system design and the effect of influential parameter on the water heater process. The result showed that water heating is affected by the surface of collector, metrological conditions such as solar radiation and outdoor temperature, even the thermal performance of the collector.

For supercritical CO2, a small change in temperature or pressure can result in large change in density, especially in the state close to the critical point. The large change in density can easily induce the natural convective flow. In this chapter, a solar water heater using supercritical CO2 which is originally designed and constructed will be introduced. The solar water heater is a closed loop system with main components of an evacuated solar collector and a heat exchanger. The working fluid of CO2 is naturally driven by the large change in density with absorbing and transporting heat in the solar collector. And the heat energy (hot water) is produced by exchanging the transferred heat with water in the heat exchanger. This chapter will describe the typical system operation and performance at different season and climates.

A detachable, automotive solar system for water and passenger compartment heating is developed. The study shows that an adjustable 1 m2 solar collector is sufficient to satisfy the needs of a small group during a short camping trip in Saudi Arabia desert. Also it is found that an adequate water temperature in the storage tank, due to ambient solar heating, is maintained in all cold months, except December when it is insufficient. Among the advantages of the system is its entire operation on renewable solar energy and its ability to heat the car compartment whenever the heated water reaches the required temperature and solar energy is still available.
